    I got hosed :(

I just have to get this off my chest.... I was so excited about the release of this game... I'm a real world pilot btw. So here it goes, I bought a new Asus G74 with 12gigs of RAM and a 3 gig video card with an I7 processor... All set. I can play arma at MAX graphics with an awesome frame rate, so i figured I would blow TOH out of the water too... I spent countless time looking at the beautiful screen shots. The game also advertises " authentic flight modeling" .... SWEET!!! That level of realism combine with those graphics !!!! I can't wait!!! I can shelf the fsx dodosim for a while... Then it happened.... The release! I fired it up for the first time.... WTF.... The graphics quality of the preview trailers is so far out of reach... The graphics settings have to be lowered making the game look like complete garbage.... Oh well, let's see how it will fly.... Maybe that will make up for the horrible visuals... Loaded a free flight.... I ran to the bathroom to throw up... It is awful... Just awful. Extremely "arcade" like. I see people splitting hairs about torque affect and decent rate..etc... But let's step back and look at the big picture, the whole thing feels like crap. The helicopter doesn't feel like it has any weight to it.. the realism setting doesn't make it any more real.. it just makes the beginner flight model more twitchy and annoying.

This is so disappointing, so much build up for nothing. Does anyone else agree that this enters the realm of false advertising? I feel like I just lit my money on fire

Thanks for listening to my rant.... Oh and I'm new to the forum! Hello!

Welcome to the forums and let me say that we have many posts like this here. The expectations of many of us was to high regarding the flight model. Though, BI is working on improvements and they listen to us.

I hear you. AFAIK, the Arma Engine lacks proper mass modeling/calculations.

Maybe youre the right person for DCS: Blackshark 2, I hears they seek customers that dont fear a rippoff.

Real world pilots and other customers are here adding constructive criticisms in order to help BIS get the flight model to a more real to life state. 2 Beta patches are in the pipeline, focusing on Career and flight model changes. If you state your specific problems (not here, but in the correct forum section) they will no doubt be met with efforts to assist from the community. I am sure there are Video or Difficulty settings that can ease your discomfort with this product in the meantime.

    Hey bjerauld -

I feel you... i think there are a lot of people coming here just after cranking the video settings feeling pretty angry, but i swear that you can get good performance out of this - the one thing you'll have to be cautious about is the overall view distance. Nobody *(that is, to my knowledge) is running it with that slider maxxed at high resolution.

Hit this thread and spend some time tweaking before you write it off though. I have it going at 30+ fps now, super high 3D resolution with a 10k view distance, and it looks just as good as any trailer out there.

Ok, I calmed down, took a week off and fired the game up again. I saw the video settings thread and was able to get the graphics smooth and looking good. This takes some of my gripes away, I'm distracted by how good it looks now! I hope they can turn around the flight model with a patch... My hopes are up from what i am hearing about the company.... Next can we have an EC135 and car crash missions?

I don't know if you have looked at recent posts in my "Flight Dynamics: Important issues" thread but it may give you some insight as to what is being done by BIS an the community to fix these issues.
