    SetTerrainGrid in MP (again)

    In our username.Arma2OAProfile under Documents\Arma2 (works with dedicated servers, too) we usually set difficulty settings, disable arcade shit like crosshairs, unit markers on map, etc.

    But there is also a very important setting called SetTerrainGrid (wiki) or as stated in config:
    terrainGrid=10;

    Some servers have this set to:
    terrainGrid=25.0;

    I have two questions:
    1) is this a legacy of OFP/A1 and how does it work in A2 (it has to do with LOD switching at different distances or something)?
    2) does the command SetTerrainGrid in init.sqs mission file override it?

    I'm tired of getting this kind of screenshots for my maps and I dunno what to do? Units are revealed on distant hills, that is particularly damaging in PvP/TvT matches, where units in ambush are exposed...

    Please BIS, clear this once and for all.

    AFAIK terrainGrid in a config has no relation to setTerrainGrid. The config value may be even obsolete nowadays.

    You should move this thread in the world editing forum.

    To get rid of the effect you need to use: setTerrainGrid 3.125;
    In each mission or use a server side addon to enforce it.

    Why 3.125? I use 12.5 in my missions, where did u came up with 3.125?
    How come BIS is leaving TerrainGrid funcion in if its obsolete?

    terrainGrid in the config (and scripting) should be like the selector of "Terrain quality" in graphics options...

    adding on to what sickboy said, 50 means no grass, 0 means a lot of grass.

    Emm thats the link I gave in the first post. I wonder what is the deal with TerrainGrid in profile file.
