Make a new model for both, replace the old ones. I made some for a mod years ago, but since I did not put them ingame myself, I am not sure what the filenames are.

Does anybody know what files you replace for the notepad? I think it's one of these:

    blok, blok_selmis, blok_selmis2 or blok_selmis2master

Which one(s) exactly I am not sure.

    EDIT

The easiest way would be to use a Mod which does it for you, eg. WGL or the Frenchpoint GUI. If you don't fancy that, there are two main methods:

    1. Piecemeal, like a sky pack
Replace models in data3d (the watch model is KOSEI.p3d) and textures in data. There are a couple of watches that have already been done: G-Shock and Pulsar.

    2. Your own Mod
Convert resource.bin into resource.cpp (so that it can be edited with a text editor) and change the paths to new models. For instance, the watch occurs twice (because it can be viewed in game and also appears on the map screen) in sections "class Watch:RscObject".
Searching through the forums I have read that de-PBOing the data3d.pbo is a bad idea for MP as it will cause a crash in the MP environment. Is there any truth to that?

Thnx,W_E_K, where ia the data3d? I cannot find it.
The WGL's wristwatch and compass look beautiful, so I wanna replace the defaults with them.

Blok_selmis and blok_selmis2master seem to be unfinalized versions.

I've not played much MP, and a fraction of that was with Llauma's sky pack installed. I don't recall having any problems, but that may just have been a permissive server.
    Thanks very much.

Upon further searching, apparently, de-PBOing the data3d.pbo messes up the Strela model causing a crash. I'll do some testing, albeit non-dedi, with a friend and see what happens.

data3d.pbo is in the DTA folder. Create a mod folder, like @UI, with a dta folder in it and copy and paste the data3d.pbo from the main folder into there. Once that is done, de-PBO it along with wgl_ui, find the compass and watch. Rename them to kompas and KOSEI respectively, place them in the data3d folder, then PBO the folder to get a new data3d.pbo.

Then place wgl_ui.pbo in the addons folder of @UI.

    Gotcha, thnx, buddy.
By the way, is 1.99 better than 1.96?

That's the same, except for no duplicated pbo (no more CWC and Resistance version of all PBO that was doubling the size of the installed directory) and new scripting commands (a few are not yet working).

The 1985.pbo and Resistance.pbo campaigns have some bugs in some missions, so if you install CWA, replace the CWA\Campaigns\ files by the ones that are in your OFP\Res\Campaigns\ directory if you intent to play the CWC and Resistance campaigns again.

Mods, addons and missions should be compatible for both (except new one that could use the new scripting commands, but there's no such thing yet) so you're not missing anything if you stay with 1.96 and are not interested by the few working new scripting commands.

As versions should not be compatible with each other online, if you want to play with people using 1.99, you'll need 1.99 too, that's the main problem of this.

Additionally, it's good for back up, as in a case of a reformat you notice your OFP cd have become unreadable, the CWA installer is downloadable at anytime for installing the game again.
Just be sure to keep your OFP serial somewhere as CWA will need it

There's an update that should be coming this week from what i read on that thread.
