MRAP - RG31 Mk5

Recommended Posts

Here are a few pics, rendered in 3D Studio, of something that Stiltman and I are currently working on.

I'd say the exterior is about 99% complete; I just have to make the textures for the windows and then we can get it into Oxygen and really start working on it. As yet, the interior is untextured. I have a fair amount of reference photos and videos though, so I'll be able to make something that's halfway decent... that's the plan, anyway.

We're planning to release the Mk5 in M2, Mk19 and RWS variants.

We'll also be releasing this for ArmA1 and eventually ArmA3. Once we've got a working model, expect a ton of pics.

That's legit. Jut make sure u get the scale of the vehicle and the player seats setup correctly. The one currently available as a standalone download seems too large and the interior camera/seating positions are outta whack

As someone else who has made an RG-31, I must say that this looks magnificent. Great work, fella!

Thanks for positive feedback, guys.

I've been playing around with the windows and tweaking a few other textures, so here are a few more pics of the beast to start your week off (all under 100K this time).

The window textures aren't 100% complete but I'll post more pics when they're looking better.

Impressive work. What else do you plan to add to the main texture? Will you be maybe doing all those tiny maintenance inscriptions (lifting lug etc.)?

Looking fantastic! :)

Any plans for a woodland version? Or one in olive drab? I know these were only used in arid environment so far in real life, but it would be nice to have a version for Chernarus too.

Very impressive.

I second that with an olive paintjob if its not too much hassle. Perhaps just tint the current textures.

Good work guys. :)

The main textures just need tidying up in places, so there aren't any harsh lines and each panel blends in smoothly with the one next to it. There are also a few areas (mainly the underside) that need more detail.

Maintenance inscriptions would be a nice touch, but unfortunately there isn't enough reference material out there. So my plan is to make it look as good as possible without being 100% accurate. If I can find some good photos in the future, I might add to it.

As for an olive drab version, technically that shouldn't be a problem. I'll stick with the desert tan paint job for now, but once the project is finished I'll see what I can do :)

The quality of this model is insane! Will it keep this level of detail when it goes into ArmA II? Or is it being modelled in such detail for ArmA III?

Either way, I can't wait to do some Route Clearance missions in this!

Thanks, JD. Yeah Stiltman and I are aiming to keep the detail level this high for ArmA2. We're gonna use proxies so it should be pretty easy... or at least that's what Stiltman tells me. He's the technical brains of this operation, I just make the models lol.

But anyway, I though you guys might like to see some pics of the Mk5 in O2. It only has normal and specular maps on it so far, but it's coming along quite nicely.

I'll be the first to point out that the axles aren't as good as I'd like them to be. However I do plan to improve them in the near future (retexturing and adding more polygon detail).

We're still in the middle stages of production so you can expect the models to improve steadily. I'll upload more pics when we've made more progress.

Is an M240 variant planned? Also, it's good to see it in O2 already.

We hadn't planned on making an M240 variant but it can easily be added to the list. Btw, Stiltman has brought the RG31 to life now; yep we have our first test model in-game. I've been playing around with it in ArmA1 and have posted some pics in a new thread:

As soon as we have some pics for ArmA2, we'll post them too.
