Murgatroyd 10 Posted July 18, 2011 Good morning. I'm running the Steam version of ARMA 2. Mouse-look speed is working strangely for me in that movement speed seems to be reversed. Fast mouse movements cause me to turn uncomfortably slowly, while trying to aim carefully at a distant target causes the gun to wag sharply from side to side, killing any hope of playing the game effectively. The issue persists when zoomed in, in windowed mode, after disabling mouse acceleration, and with mouse smoothing set to zero. I have tried a number of different fixes on the net to no effect, but most of these seem to be also for mouse lag which is NOT an issue here. Nvidia drivers, DirectX and ARMA 2 are all fully patched. I have Operation Arrowhead, but it is not installed. I'm not running any mods. Some system specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel i7-2600 3.4Ghz 8 core 16Gb RAM Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 Aside from this mouse problem, ARMA 2 runs smoothly in the very short sessions I have played it with no further issues coming to light. But until the mouse is fixed it's pretty much unplayable. Sorry if this issue has a name, I've never encountered it before. Any help would be appreciated. Murgatroyd 10 Posted July 18, 2011 Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I don't see anything there that I haven't already tried.
.kju 3240 Posted July 18, 2011 Did you try a different mouse altogether yet?
Murgatroyd 10 Posted July 18, 2011 Yes and no. This is the second time in probably six months that I've installed the game to experience this problem. Previously I used a much older system with much lower specs with same issue (and lousy performance overall, not surprisingly). That system had a different mouse. Both are fairly generic Microsoft mice, I probably couldn't give you a model.
.kju 3240 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) The reason I am asking some other guy reported such a problem way back from what I recall. Didn't find that one but check these: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/4491 http://dev-heaven.net/issues/3081 http://dev-heaven.net/issues/2376 They may give you some ideas what else to try. Murgatroyd 10 Posted July 18, 2011 Interesting reading, particularly one of the older discussions suggesting that it's a deliberate feature to enhance realism. The effort you've put into helping me find a solution seems to knock that idea on the head, though. :) Thanks for your assistance. I don't see a workable solution and developer input also seems conspicuously absent, so I'll keep plugging away at the game as it is. Who knows, I might even get used to it.
