    Can I use AutoCad to model new vehicles for OFP? (I'm learning it and would like some practical experience.)

    Sure you can. But if you want to make completely new models (as in not editing one of the existing p3d files) you will need Oxygen as well. This will (probably) be released to the public around June 21st.

    You can model in any program, as long as you can output the file in .3DS file format.
    And of course, you need to keep the poly count down.
    Max is about 3000 triangles for the highest poly LOD.
