Thread: Underwater gameplay

    Underwater gameplay

Im pretty sure they confirmed the submarine at e3 undrivable, but i think it should be placeable around the island, and enterable, at least in vehicle/ diver deployment, and weapons areas

Why does BIS always implement such great things like aircraft-carrier, submarine, train and then they're not drive-/useable

Because it would require major changes to the engine which would not be justified by the additional gameplay they create. (The costs outweigh the benefits.)

For example, a static aircraft carrier is still functional in its primary purpose as a naval launchpad for aircraft. As far as its uses in the game is concerned, it doesn't really need to be moving around very much (where would you take it?), so making it moveable wouldn't add much to it, gameplaywise. That's the low benefit part.

Then the RV engine has long had issues with collision detection on large objects, which is why the static carrier is made up of many smaller bits. Walking around on/in moving vehicles isn't possible either in RV and causes things to drop through or slide off. Those are two major engine limitations that would need to be overcome to implement a moveable carrier. High costs.

So the static carrier is simply a compromise. It's not fully functional, but at least it's there.

It's a good consideration though to say the map is large. But they've already thought about it:- as you can see, we've got some really awesome underwater and sea-based vehicles to get to use.

Yes you did, but I said Thread, not post.
Since the first post is the face of the thread, should always be well constructed and have a clear, elaborate way of showing its content.
The way this thread as started, seems more like a chat.

Because it actually takes more than one person to drive them, I would be happy if you had to crew it properly to use it.
The main real reason being that if they could move then standing/landing on decks etc becomes a problem.
Same shit as moving around in aircraft.
