ARMA 2 Free

So I tried ARMA free and really loved it, I'm a huge fan of tac shooters and I'm considering getting the game I'm just not really sure where to start once I do. I'd love to play with a group but obviously I'm not very skilled and I was wondering how difficult it is to get into the community, is it fairly noob friendly?

I don't think there will be any people that will scold you because of your noobness except if you are doing some teamkilling or stealing their vehicle and another annoying behaviour.
So, yes it is noob friendly, and you can always choose the difficulty level of particular server when you gonna entering it. My advice is if you are still new to this game, try recruit difficulty

Once you get used to this game, you will enjoy and will forgetting all difficulty of the game

I'd say as Special_Air_Service said. I'd also suggest try to play SP for a while (boot camp, campaign or sp missions) to get a feeling how the game works. Sure you could ask them during MP but some are really easy learned just by getting familiar in SP with it for a while.

You can ask specifics about user made mission while in game because it differs from mission to mission. Even i asks others how to refill my water bottle in DayZ mod. In other mission like warfare BE you need to click the small UAZ icon to unflip your vehicle. Most players dont really mind just dont asks about any single thing that you can actually try yourself. People are actually trying to kill others in PvP online games.

To make things easier, join an online group and you can asks whatever you want using a mic. it beats typing while trying to fly a jet.

I'm having a problem playing with my friend. I'm playing ArmA 2 full version and he's playing free version. He just got the 1.11 patch and it keep saying 1.10 when I try to connect and we cannot connect. He doesn't have the steam version. He got the patch off of armaholic.

why dont you install the free version too, there's no point in joining with a full version since he cant use mod anyway

It worked the last time we played. I don't run any mods on the full version. It's just after the recent patch 1.11 . He installed it to 1.11 but I always see it detect as 1.10.

-Argh, he made an amateur mistake. Instead of running the patch he just threw it in the ARMA 2 Free folder.
