oggmeista 10 Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) Thx for checkin out my post... Right im getting pretty hacked of both my arma II games I have original and oa are coming up with this message what happend was tried to install oa as arma 2 was already working fine asked for online regestration and it wouldnt do it tried 3-4 times then I realised net connection wasnt on but when I tried this time I got this stupid message and it wouldnt let me enter the serial  Read about on the web and found some posts about steam version doing this but mine is not steam version although I do have it linked to steam anyways posts said something about restarting steam running it with admin name and password, well seen as im only one who really uses my Pc I never entered a password , had one before and basically its just a pointless time consuming exercise :( So it wont let me try start it with no password from the admin access screen So how do I start my games plz? I didn't buy them just to stare at the boxes.. This is the only reason I signed up here. also read something about cache the files and what exactley is that please? :( My game is original and the original Arma 2 game was working perfectly before and was already patched PS Im not going to be to pleased with bohemias nonesense if I have to uninstall these games in order to remedy this issue  thx Edited May 1, 2011 by Dwarden
76 0 Posted April 26, 2011 First time I registered online I thought it had failed, tried again couldn't enter my serial... I can't remember what I did... can't even remember the window and button layout but just click all of them. Anyway it had worked the first time I just didn't hit the right button or something. Like the patches, if you hadn't done it already it can be hard to tell if its finished or not or weather it was 'successful' ... BI ain't the most refined in some areas. .kju 3240 Posted April 26, 2011 Did you run the install as admin?
oggmeista 10 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) thx for the feedback To answer your query I tried to after reading around in forums, but I don't have an admin password setup as explained above so the admin screen wouldn't allow me to do that Originally when I installed ARMA 2 no I didn.t do this as for one thing my game is NOT steam version, and it worked fine this problem has only arisen after I tried to run ARMA 2 OA from its own .exe as even running from the original game OA was working as I could see new missions in the options Now though both games are coming up with this error I was thinking of purchasing the third installment reinforcements this nonesense has put me right off that idea So how do I access the games now, does anybody have an answer please? cheers Edited April 26, 2011 by oggmeista

Gunter Severloh 3952 Posted April 27, 2011 Hello oggmeista, Sorry to read about your frustration. Where did you get your games from? Are they DVD, or downloaded? also, when posting thread with issues such as your which has been posted many times in the forum section here always post the following: computer specs: Operating System Ramm Graphics card CPU what game is it patched, what patch ect., what form is it in dvd, downloaded, steam ect,. As i said this subject problem has been posted many times before, here are a few thread with issues like yours: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76004&highlight=Bad+serial+number http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=108391&highlight=Bad+serial+number theres tons more!! go to search and type this in: Bad serial number given in setup Theres steam versions, and non steam versions, the couple I posted were from that list. Hope that helps.
oggmeista 10 Posted April 27, 2011 hello gunter I got them both at different times but from the same retail outlet / Game in Leeds city centre UK They are both DVD Windows xp Professional x64 Edition 5 gb ddr2 667 OZ Premium Ram Nvidia Geforce 8800gtx 768mb Athlon 5200+ x2 x64 Ok I will let you know if any of these help thx
oggmeista 10 Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) the 2 games being effected by the problem are: Arma II Arma II Operation arrowhead And started happening on both at the same time both patched to 1.07 i think Well I don,t know if there are so many more but I had already looked at the links you posted, and there is no solution to my problem there or the potential link to solving the issue is broken.. Therefore i'm still with the same situation, furthermore a couple of posts mentioned re-installing didn't fix their issue, so I dont think it viable to do this unless there is no other possible resolve PS: This is very annoying the original game I had purchased almost a year ago and had never had this situation with it. PSS I had posted the pc specs in a previous post but I got a message saying it was being checked by moderators, cheers Edited April 27, 2011 by oggmeista
maggots 10 Posted April 28, 2011 Hi I just bought Combined Arms from steam. I installed both games ARMAII and ARMA2 OA. I played ARMAII fine and then I switched to OA and it wont start up it processes and even displays bohemia's signia then it crashes and says wrong serial number given at setup. I read a tread about this problem but it was ARMAII they were having trouble with. That thread was solved by 'running the game as Administrator'. What does that mean? I would really like to play this game but it can't even start. Please help.

oggmeista 10 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Hi there oh i can tell you what that means As you have downloaded the game via "Steam" then it is the Steam version, Like you I have also read the posts about the Steam version doing this What you need to do is this CLose steam RIGHT CLICK the arma 2 cA or whatever icon.exe inside the folder where you installed it probably C:/program files/Bohemia Interactive for the original game it is "arma2" Once you right click select "run as" from the drop down menu left click then on the small panel which opens highlight the option "the following user" then type in your admin name and password which you use to first gain access on start up. I don't know if it will work for you but mine is not even steam and i'm having this problem unfortunately I did not set a password when I installed windows so I don't know if this would work for me as I do have steam but my version of the games is DVD and neither work at the moment. I like you had posted for help as the answers in forums were no good for me, but as yet I have pretty much been left frustrated here :-( Hopefully though this will work for you Good luck original source http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=662748 Edited April 28, 2011 by oggmeista
oggmeista 10 Posted April 28, 2011 hi there Unfortunate the members here don't sem to be very helpful, but as your experiencing the problem with "steam " version of game this which I already wrote for somebody may also help you http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=118114
oggmeista 10 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Still waiting... OMG! Ive ben reading through these posts corncerning this problem and as far as I can see there is NO solution for the dvd version wtf!! The only reasonable advice I can see is to take it back to the shop? if you have proof of purchase, and what if I dont anymore? that mean the item is a copy? Listen I paid for the game it is not a copy nor are the disks damaged it is your (bohemias) intrusion into my installation which has caused this issue and now they (you) have no way of fixing my problem other than to take back the game to the shop. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DISKS. and i repeat it is a genuine copy they both are one is about a year old. You really expect anybody to keep reciepts for that long? The copy protection system should be there to stop pirates not screw genuine purchasers of the game im sorry but if I get left with a game that refuses to run and you give me no help. other than read forums whereby the only solution is to return the item, I will make sure everbody hears exactley what your solution to this problem is and will never buy anything from bohemia again this advice is unfair and insulting. Btw I will get these games working again by re-installing my operating system but it will be the last pound I ever spend on bohemias products I await your response and whether you can prove me wrong.. Dwarden 1124 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) ... if you got previously installed version of A2 and OA (from very specific source) ... then make sure You registry is clean of it's remains before trying install new version ... ... e.g. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1905376 Edited April 28, 2011 by Dwarden
Choki 10 Posted April 29, 2011 I boy my key and never had any problem. Is rare this. In your dvd you have the key?
grobicheau 10 Posted April 29, 2011 I'm also looking for assistance with this particular error running ArmA 2: OA. However I do have the Steam version. I have done my research. So I've gone through the basics (Running Steam as administrator, verifying the install, uninstalling + manually deleting registry keys). Still no luck. ArmA II itself runs just fine. I can confirm that I do not see the REG_BINARY object in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA. So at this point what's my next step? Thanks in advance for any insight.
oggmeista 10 Posted April 29, 2011 so i have to re-install games? and will that work? quote "I boy my key and never had any problem. Is rare this. In your dvd you have the key? " umm I don't understand this My serial keys a printed on the back of the manual, are you asking whether they are in the regestry??? Well they are previously installed but not very long agao as I already needed to re-install the operating sytem and therefore arma 2 as well@ but I can confirm that it was working, moreover the OA content was even there on the missions this problem started after trying to install OA judging by the increasing number of customers who are experiencing this issue I think you need to confirm a working fix or solution and make it into a sticky for future users, that is if ther is a solution ---------- Post added at 04:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:26 AM ---------- Did you run the install as admin? To answer you here: i tried making an admin password from "user accounts today but the same thing is happening so this doesnt work for me my version is NOT steam. Choki 10 Posted April 29, 2011 talking about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA. Did you change the folder of the game? or move the game to another folder?
oggmeista 10 Posted April 29, 2011 (edited) talking about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA. Did you change the folder of the game? or move the game to another folder? Hello, I have 4 hard-drives the default hd is small and I only use it for small applications and the windows installation so yes my game is NOT on the default drive addon.. I have uninstalled both games using revo uninstaller pro. rebooted then installed arma2 as admin on my main game drive which is assigned E;/ I then tried to run it and it is (at the moment working) I am right now installing OA to the same main directory that is E:\program files\bohemia interactive. again I installed as administrator I will then patch both games as necessary :bounce3: what if all goes well; I need to know now is can I run the games through steam? presumably starting up as administrator? NB: MY GAMES ARE NOT STEAM VERSION: Also would there be a problem if I was to unassign the administrive password using the "user accounts panel"? Finally could you please explain to me how you "verify the game cache"? thx Edited April 29, 2011 by oggmeista

nbrado 10 Posted April 30, 2011 If I was you I would contact sprocket: support@idea-games.com i've found their customer service to be very good. Yeah i've done that already this afternoon just waiting for a response from them now. Arma2 still works no cd key errors there but if I try to run OA or the british addon and private security addon in multiplayer I get the bad key issue :(
