Various Issues Arma 2 CO - Please take a look

    Hello everyone,

I've compiled a few issues I'm having with Arma 2 CO (1.59). Any help is welcomed and appreciated.

    Game settings
    Visibility - 5000
    Texture Detail - High
    Video Memory - Default
    AF - Very High
    AA - Normal
    Terrain Detail - Normal
    Objects Detail - Normal
    Shadow Detail - Very High
    HDR Quality - Normal
    PP - Disabled
    Vsync - Disabled
    AToC - 0

    1. - Large FPS drop with trees in close view

As the video shows with AA on normal my fps is fine if I'm quite a distance away from bunched up trees just looking at them, when I hold-rightclick-zoom my fps drops a small amount and mouse movement is slightly laggy, however when I'm scoped or walk up to the trees so my screen is basically full of tree leaves then my FPS dives badly and my mouse movement is very laggy. With AA disabled the FPS hit isn't as bad, but it's still undesirable as is the laggy mouse movement.

    2. Negative mouse acceleration?

I'm not sure if this is a game feature or indeed negative mouse acceleration, but if I move my mouse slowly my turning/view speed is a decent fast motion. However when I do quicker/fast movements with my mouse I'm not getting the same coverage.

    3. Multiplayer Issues

I only ever play on 1 server which is the games.on.net server (my ISP's), everytime I join it though I get what the above pictures show. I have to disconnect and rejoin, I have in the past clicked OK anyway which results in the map downloading again then a crash to desktop. Having to rejoin is a small annoyance but I'd still like to get it fixed.

Apart from that lobby bug when everything has loaded and I've joined into the game I occasionally get this:

I can shoot and move and hear things, but this loading screen bug won't go away unless I go back to the lobby and rejoin the mission.

Thanks for any help, hopefully anyone else that may share some of these problems can also contribute.

    For the black screen try:
left shift - minus key and type flush

the screens at 3 show no problem

at aus arma they have reported some aus server provider to have issues and most teams
moved to another company - might be related

that said upload your crash files at the CIT: How-to-report-a-crash

to 2: whats your mouseSensitivity and mouseSmoothing set in armaoaprofile?
what did you set GPU_MaxFramesAhead to?

    to 1: normal behavior

I'll try the flush trick when I come across the loading screen bug again.

I don't know what you mean by "the screens at 3 show no problem". They do show a problem, the lobby bugs out which causes the amount of players under side to not show up as well as their roles not showing up. The other pic also shows a bugged lobby as Opfor only has 3/4 players which is wrong. As well as this I can't select a side or choose a role. If I join the game with either of these bugged lobbies it re-downloads the map and crashes to desktop. It's like the lobby tries to load correctly when I first join but can't so it stuffs up instead.

Mouse smoothing is off, GPU_MaxFramesAhead is 0 (as well as in Nvidia control panel). Senstivity isn't listed numerically but in the control options X = 1 click to the right Y = 3 clicks to the right.

As for the FPS drop, there is no way it's normal behaviour. C'mon...a few trees in close view causes huge mouse lag and a complete collapse in FPS? Sorry....but not a chance.

Could only find issues relating to fps drop and negative mouse accel. However the status on the fps drop says rejected.

what video drivers are you using? I just recently upgraded to a GTX560 Ti and at first had HORRIBLE performance with trees/grass when I had any kind of AA enabled (even very low).

Then I upgraded to the 270.52 beta's and performance increased 10x with AA enabled (the 270.61 WHQL's seem to have issues with a few games so I haven't tried them)

I was using the 266.xx drivers before when I had bad performance

    Case: CoolerMaster HAF-922

Currently using 266.58. I've tried 270.51 beta drivers, but had the same results.

    hmmm...not sure then.
As for your mouse issue, I believe that is by design. In this game weapons have weight, so the faster you try to move them the more they slow you down as the weight/momentum is fighting against you (this aint no "twitch shooter" )
