How do you use the Laser Designator?

Recommended Posts

Sorry about the other vague post.

I don't use ACE.

What keypresses control the Laser Designator?

Left mouse shows a red dot, but then I can't find any keypress to continue with lacing the target.

Using ArmaIIOA v1.57.

Ok I see. But how much time goes by before boom?

Just aiming at something with a laser does not make anything go boom, you need another unit to shoot at the designated spot, or script something yourself.

Depends on how long a aircraft with a GBU on board or a SADARM Artillery round needs to get there..the laser designator does nothing on its one exept marking the target for the Seeker.

make sure you have the soflam, make sure you have batteries, select it in the action mean (weapon soflam), then press your aim button, and click.

Do you know how crazy Arma 2 would be if it really was like that?! Just go around rampaging with a laser.

Yeah, calling in the tomahawks was cool^^

yeah. good memories :P

only one weakness - usually tomahawks set-up for pitch up attack[missile grab height alittle before hit target and then hit it almost verically] in LD-pointed fire missions :)

not only increase penetration[in case of needs and lack of AA], but decrease obstacles obstruction/chance to hit in urban/cross-terrain area.

thats why about 70% of my missions was on early morning or early night[aside CoverOps nature of them :].

p.s.

what i can't say about night skies in Arma2, btw :-/

just i dummy poster with bloomed/glowing bulletholes

It was sunrise ;)

I think the night Sky inArma is pretty good. You can even navigate by the stars, if you know how its done.

yeah, with good viewdistance, every[sunrise or sundown]sunset in Arma2 is wonderful in decent weather.

hope someone will return to "hisky" mod again ;-)

p.s.

sure, but its LOOK weird !!

original OFP sky, for example/reference isnt that handy, but look more or less natural[from distance ;].

There's something remarkably satisfying about destroying a helo in flight with a laser guided bomb, courtesy of your SOFLAM.

Hi, i only use to use the LD in multiplayer, and what i is:

- Equip a LD instead Binocs.

- Take 1 LD battery.

- Talk with someone that can fly LGB planes.

- Reach an agreement to be his/her FAC on the ground.

- Report about the battlefield's situation and my actual and future movements.

- Report in capital letters when i have a valid target (i.e: T90, BTR90, INF, etc...).

- Report clearly when i stop designating targets, because i've to move or because i've NMEs close.

That's how i use to use the LD most of the times; in MP. Let's C ya

good intro.

and if Arma2 include add-on with ground-based semiactive[LD -guided]Hellfire missile launcher or similary-capable[predator, global hawk, new Navvy UAV bomber]UAV or even laser-pointed Atacms round for M270, its could be even easier/deadlier -)
