In all honesty: I think with your level of expertise it would take you too much time to make a "total conversion".

Remember, up to this point there is only one mod in existence who was able to pull it off, the "Invasion 44" one. Its a tremendous amount of work.

Why dont you try a "mini mod" instead, two-three tanks, some guns, two kinds of infantry?

This is not supposed to pull your mod down, the shown stuff is great and every guy who takes addon making upon himself is even greater!

Now the problem with doing this is it wont actually meet our overall intention for the mod we set ages and ages ago when we first started out. We don't care how long it takes even if it does not get released until ArmA 4, we are just doing it like every other mod maker here, for the fun.

Now I don't know if I was meant to announce this but I guess this seems like the appropriate time. We are releasing the mod in stages, eg 1917 or maybe 1915. So in short it is kind of like a huge mini mod. Now if we ever get a map then this may change so I would not say this is final yet.

Sadly I will also say that TankGun has also become ill over the week and so he may not reply to anything for a while. I hope you feel better soon Topas and TankGun :)

Try changing the smooth edges to sharp ones ;) for non-curved, flat surfaces as walls and roofs it should do the trick

"U" and "I" buttons

Oh, and of course good to see your progress

PS: Due to me having fallen ill as well, and now catching up on RL stuff I had no opportunity to check your files. Will do once given time and will, sorry - just can't promise anything atm

The "U" and the "I" huh, thanks for the tip and I will def have to check that out when I am not sick. Also thanks for the comment, means a lot :)

EDIT: Yes as Hetty said, it was decided that the mod would be released in stages and/or Campaigns to lessen the amount of actual work, of course Britain, Germany and France are the first 3 with the exception of when France will be added. As he also stated this is something we are working with but may not in fact be the final solution or idea on how we release things but we do feel that for the time this is the best way of doing it.

Looking good.

One quick question, will there be horses in this mod?

World War I was probably the last major modern war that incorporated widespread usage of horseback cavalry.

EDIT: Never mind, just read the first post.

My suggestion for your MOD that I love to play in the future!

* start with two Nations Basic Infantry.

* 1 tank for each nation.

* 1 Aircraft for each nation. (maby not needed at first release.)

* one small no mans land trench map, make it just small for basic infantry combat. So you can get a first release out.

MAIN THING is that you start out SMALL, even making it a small first release is a lot of work, more then any one think. So dont start big drowning yourself in work.

With INV44 & Hell in the pacific mod you may ask kindly and you may even get the bayonett melee & flamethrower into your mod.

;)

Good luck. Also any kind of new media or update of progress is welcome :)

How many are working with this mod?

Maby you can get in contact with the guys who made the ww1-mod for battlefield 1942?

Never know what could happend out of contacting them?

Amen to that!

Now that I'm aware of such possibility; who is in charge over such questions in HiP and whom to contact? I'm pretty sure that we'd be more than interested too

Just watched a very interesting doc on the use of airplanes during WW1. From observers to fighters and the arms race that developed. A very interesting time period and one that would be great within ArmA2.

That is all.

I´m very interested on WW1 addons, the pictures from your mod are absolut beautiful.

I released a MarkIV addon and a prototype from a german A7V tank, but your tanks are looking very authentic, great work hope your works on the mod are going on.

greetings

Been a while since you last heard from us, so what has been going on?

Well we have been working on the mod in the spare time we have, currently the team have jobs or education to deal with so progress has been slow compared to a few months back. TankGun is working away on the models and I myself have been learning basic aspects of 3D modelling to help create objects for the mod (very basic still :( ).

So what is new right now?

Well we have launched our official forum at last since a big upgrade to a new system.

It can be found at: http://decades-of-development.com/forums/ and is best way to get the latest info and to ask questions or get support about our mods.

As we mention quite a bit, we still badly need help, currently we consist of two model builders (I am still very new to it) and we need support if the mod is to get anywhere at all. If you have any skills that will help us then please let us know, any help is much appreciated. :)

Now back to model building for me ;)

Great to see a ww1 mod for Arma 2 on the start. I am very interested in joining in. Several years ago I made some models for ww1 ofp and very funny to see, they survived and are now included in the ofp ww1 mod. Maybe you can ask permission from ProfTournesol to make use of all these models?

Hey eaglke,

I've seen you mentioned:

MG08 (model)

MG08/15 (model)

75 mm french gun (tex + model)

Hocthkiss 1914 machine gun (model)

Since this has been in the arsenal of the Polish Army by the time of 1939; a timeframe I'm very much interested in depicting in a little mod of ours, would you be willing to send me some wireferames and more screenshots per PM? maybe we'd be interested and could negotiate the usage of these assets in our mod too? Or, I could texture those (completely, as in diffuse, specular, normal, rvmat etc.) and hand over to WW1 in exchange for a license?
