Alibaba327 10 Posted January 13, 2011 Hi Guys, please can someone tell me what CPU is good for an arma2 Linux Server. Normally a server has specialized CPU like XEON or Opteron but does this also applies to Arma 2 Server? Exspecially 1. is a XEON 3220 really better than a Core i7-860? 2. is specialized server CPU more important than clock speed? What do you prefer. Actually we are running a Xeon3220 but within warfare we have sometimes less than 3 Frames if 20-30 Players are connected.
gL33k 0 Posted January 13, 2011 a superclocked dual core is the best for arma server. my cpu load is never higher than 70% with a dual core on warfar with AI team. an i5 superclocked might be the ultimate server.
Alibaba327 10 Posted January 13, 2011 thank you, this means that higher clock is more important than a specialized server cpu!?
gL33k 0 Posted January 13, 2011 of course. a dual core cpu is enough.

killswitch 19 Posted January 14, 2011 Hi Guys, please can someone tell me what CPU is good for an arma2 Linux Server. Normally a server has specialized CPU like XEON or Opteron but does this also applies to Arma 2 Server? Exspecially 1. is a XEON 3220 really better than a Core i7-860? Not in terms of A2 performance. The X3220 is the Xeon variant of the Core 2 Quad 6600, which is an older generation CPU architecture. The i7-860 will be faster for everything, including an ArmA II server.2. is specialized server CPU more important than clock speed? No. (As several other posters have mentioned above) :)
