I haven't seen much increase in speed (loading stuff etc) since moving my ArmA2 install to SSD, but it does remove the need to defrag it. If you don't use a SSD, then you must defrag it, especially after installing a patch. If you get a defrag program like Ultimate Defrag, you can specify certain files to be placed on the fastest part of the hard drive, like PBO files for example.Originally Posted by General Nuisance

a ssd will help, but it should not be necessary to dedicate it to arma2. You can safely install your OS on it in sense of performance.
