So, me n my buddy like playing this online, setting up our own missions.
Recently we bought ourselves two desktop mics to get rid of the old type type type chore...
The game works fine and both mics on each of our machines respond to an input in windows. We have boosted the signal, made sure we aren't monitoring the input (so we can't hear ourselves) and we can talk fine in game by double tapping caps, or holding it.
However, say if my mate hosts the game, which he normally does, his mic will always be able to be heard by me and mine is heard too but not for long. I think it happens at any point but I don't believe it's a set amount of time. It also seems like it happens when one of us dies, but again, it's temperemental.
If I host the game, on the other hand, his is the mic that will stop functioning after a while.
All I can think of is that it's because his ports aren't open for the game. Would that cause this behaviour? Should it cause it? I have forwarded ports in my router for Arma.
By the way, the mic always works outside of ARMA if I alt tab I can tap the mic in Control Panel Sounds and Audio Devices and see a signal.
I've updated to the latest drivers for all things on my machine and due to the fact that both mics work fine as long as we host the game, it means it must be something to do with the way ARMA is communicating to each of our PCs?
Any tips, workarounds or alternatives would be very interesting to hear.
PS, WOW , Operation Arrowhead is lovely. But isn't it nice to have a wonder around Chernarus again once in a while!
