Victim ZSU 10 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Have just updated Windows Dedicated Server to 1.54 and we're getting bad version issues for people who have the BAF DLC. Client: ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead 1.54 with BAF DLC Server: ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead 1.54 w BAF (Lite) and mod signing on Tried launching and connecting with OA 1.54 "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2OA.exe" -nosplash and the Setup deployed OA 1.54 BAF shortcut "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2oa.exe" -mod=BAF In both cases I get a bad version when connecting from a BAF client to the dedicated server. Is my understanding that the Client with BAF works with a DS with BAF (Lite) incorrect? If so, does this mean we need a dedicated server with the full BAF content installed? Along with the things the op and I have tried, I uploaded the "BAF" folder from my game... the server would not show up..but upon stopping the server (I use Firedaemon), it did show up momentarely with a pretty green dot, as it faded away. ---------- Post added at 12:47 AM ---------- Previous post was Yesterday at 11:46 PM ---------- Signature issue, Locked ours and disabled verifysignatures, lets me join. SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Replaced "touched" files after the BAF install didn't help. I'm uploading the full BAF while I go to work today and will try that 2nite. I'm hoping my other admin doesn't install BAF to his client side yet, so I can see if he has any joining issues. Last nite we were both able to join other BAF & BAF Lite servers. SWAT_CDN 0 Posted August 29, 2010 I purchased full BAF this afternoon and attempted to join our server after installation: I can confirm: Wtih our server running BAF Lite, I (Client) with BAF (full) installed cannot join our server. My work around was to changeFolder Name to @BAF. 1) Starting Game from "ARMA2 Combined Operations" desktop Icon allowed me to join BAF (lite) servers including ours. Note: in single player no BAF missions are available. 2) Desktop Start Icon " ARMA2 British Armed Forces" I changed TARGET to read -mod=@BAF from -mod=@BAF Starting game from this Icon gives the "Incompatable Version Message" and cannot join (lite) server. Note: Starting from this ICON all the Full BAF single player missions are available. I have not tried joining other servers but did notice: Starting from "ARMA2 British Armed Forces" Icon there is a "?" in all the Multiplayer servers showing expanison as BAF (lite) and Green for full BAF. (note: I did get an error "Picture baf\mod.paa not found". Clicked ok and it appears to run fine. However Starting from "ARMA2 Combined Operations" Icon the status is "Green" in MOST of the Multiplayer servers showing expanison as BAF (lite). There are stiil servers showing "?" but the majority show Green. On a side note; while clicking through the servers one server with the BAF full description in the expansion listing did show GREEN? (maybe they have eq mod turned off in server settings?) It appears to me that Update 1.54 with the BAF (lite) and the BAF full version are preforming like two totally differnt games and must be started as such. I am not so sure that was the intent but it appears to be the result. I also question the inability to "DISABLE" BAF in the expansion listings in the game menu? Victim ZSU 10 Posted August 30, 2010 it seems part of the issue is that with modline checking turned on the server, there is implicit modline checking, even if one is not specified on the client. i.e. if client has A2 1.54 OA BAF and has no modline set, the implicit modline is actually ArmA 2; ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead; British Armed Forces and if the server has A2 1.54 OA BAF (Lite) and has no modline set, the implicit modline is actually ArmA 2; ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead; British Armed Forces (Lite) I ask again, does everyone else just run their server with modline checking off? Defunkt 431 Posted August 30, 2010 What do you mean by modline checking? equalModRequired=1 or verifySignatures=1? The first is inflexible and deprecated in favour of the second. When a dedicated server runs with "equalModRequired" or "verifySignatures" turned off there is no issues. This is something we do not want to turn off in our server, hopefully we can get some sort of answer. I guess this would be the major question to the server admin's. Defunkt 431 Posted August 30, 2010 You post as though they are either both on and or both off when in fact they achieve distinctly different things. Leave verifySignatures on and turn equalModRequired off, the former controls what addons players can have running and if you also want to dictate which mods players must have it's better set in each mission's "RequiredAddons" list. equalModRequired is pedantic and inflexible and would appear from your posts to not cope with the distinction between BAF Lite and BAF Full. Defunkt 431 Posted August 30, 2010 Yeah I had that dubbing_baf.pbo.bisign file also, I just removed it, no ill-effects. The rest is odd. So this is a Combined Operations server running on Windows? Might be a good idea to start a DOS prompt in the ArmA2 root and enter... dir /s > arma_dir.txt ...then post arma_dir.txt (from that folder) along with your server's command line. Just for the sake of completeness you might want to (from a DOS prompt) do... fc /B D:\ArmA2Server\Keys\bi.bikey D:\ArmA2Server\Expansion\Keys\bi.bikey ...should say "no differences encountered".
