Arma2 GameServers Server Help

Hey Guys,
Buddy and I Bought an Arma 2 Gameserver from well Gameservers seen here:

We had a red Orchestra server with them for 4 years but not anymore as we dont play RO anymore.

We have a server with Defcon servers for Arma and that server runs fine np.

I did look through the MP section here for server info going back 5 pages, as well as the trouble shooting section,
as well as looking on Armaholic forums and the Gameservers forums but Gameservers forums dont have anything
for Arma 2 which makes no sense, I was hesitant to post but I seriously found nothing that answers the few
questiosn I have about what to do, I have an idea, but still am lost to how to do some things.

I have a few questions as Im trying to figure how to setup the server
similar to how I have it for my Arma server.

Questiosn I do have, and this one is I guess maybe a stupid one,
but to be honest Im not 100% sure.

Question:
If I have a gameserver which I rent from (Gameservers) like
Defcon servers, is it considered a dedicated server?

what we have done so far:
* we got to our FTP open it up and found the cfg, and made some adjustments

* we go to our server on the MP list in Arma 2 and get kicked off after a
mission loads, cuz apparently the server version is 1.05, and we are
both running Arma 2 versions 1.07, so that tells me I have to patch the server,
so my question is:

Question:
How do I patch my Arma 2 server with the latest 1.07 Patch?
Can i just copy the files from my Arma 2 folder to the Server, and which files do
I copy if that would work? Addon folder, dta folder, anytihng else?

Last question:
On our defcon server we have a panel we can go to to add files, and edit and update
the cfg, as well as change the command line to tell the server what mods to run ect.,

So my question is I dont see anywhere to change the command line as we want
to play with mods, is it possible to have mods loaded via the cfg file,
like setup a code with a load order like a shortcut target line?

Thats it, all I can think of.
Any help is much appreciated.

To answer my first question which I really never knew before :

What's the difference between a game server and a dedicated server?
When purchasing a "game server", you purchase a particular game with a particular amount of players.

yes,dedicated (game)server (for ArmA2/OA) then,exept you ordered a full server which you can run multiple stuff on like games,forums,webpage,etc. but i take it you rented a A2 gameserver @ Defcon

Question:
How do I patch my Arma 2 server with the latest 1.07 Patch?

as far i remember the Defcon server panel,there should be a seperate button to apply patches (usually preset by Defcon,except beta patches) otherwise there should be a line where you can upload your (beta)patch if you need that

Last question:

again,as far as i remember @ Defcon you just upload the the mod to the server (in the correct folder,which you can select via the admin panel)
When u uploaded the mod there should be a way to check the command line options and add @stuff via a tick off box ... might be wrong there,i havnt spend much time @ Defcon admin panel and its some month beyond my memories

i take it you rented a A2 gameserver @ Defcon

Well actually no, I have a Arma server with defcon and I am admin of it,
and I do know my way around it pretty well, my buddy is the one paying for it.

well he went and payed for a server at gameservers not sure why when defcon has
a better setup and cheaper, but he got one there as we had an RO server with them
for 4 years and they have great cust service. problem is theres no admin pamel or
support for them, I think my best bet here would be to just convince him to switch
to defcon for Arma 2 cuz runnign around trying to get all the components to this sever
is wasting so much time when I can be playing custom missions!

When i uploaded a mod I did it through the uploader or the Ftp, and didn't do it
through the mod part. and the command line changer you click on the box and edit
the command line same way you would for a desktop shortcut for Arma or Arma2.

Sigh... I think im going to have a littel talk with my friend to get us
back to Defcon, everything is in one place there.

Were Moving to DEFCON!
Back to Defcon severs we are for Arma 2, I wish my buddy
would have done that right off the bat but whatever.

Defcon has such an ausome setup for a server, admin panel
and everything right where you want.

Any questions about defcon server for arma and for arma 2 I can help
I know the layout, the setup and how to get it running and what to do ect.,
I got a good idea anyways.
