I think I changed something or possibly a bug ?

Notice how the green hud display moves with my head tracking.



I got my Track IR a few days ago and when I first tried it I am sure that the green hud thing in the Apache was in a fixed position.

I don't think I changed anything so can someone hopefully tell me if this is either normal and I imagined the whole fixed hud thing or is this a bug of some kind ?

or perhaps just a setting I changed by accident ?

I would rather this be fixed in position for some reason haha

LMAO...it's not a bug, it's a feature called "Helmet mounted display". The AH64 has it and also the F-35. Einjoy it.

in OA, it's always like that, since release. I'm pretty sure it's removable by a mod.

It can't be turned off unless you create a replacement config addon for it. And as Cole said, this feature was introduced with OA, back in ArmA 2 it wasn't available. You say you got TIR recently so i guess as now you move your head much more you've started to notice.

Personally i do like this feature since you always have all relevant flight data right in your view. But surely it will take some time until you get used to it but i bet, afterwards you wouldn't miss it anymore. Just give it a go.

yeah, had about half an hour in an Apache just messing around and its fine now that I know its the way its supposed to be.

99% sure i was watching a documentry on apaches, and it said that the pilot can also move the mounted gun underneath via the helmet display

cant do this in the game though, the turret doesnt move unless the gunner moved it

You can with ACE2.

Hmm..only the Gunner can move the Gun turret...really weird things happen in this game.
