I don't think my problems were hardware related although moar always gets you moar right

This system playes Arma2 just fine albeit certain patches which had dramatically bad effects on my performance. The point of my post was that sometimes it's only a setting and/or the current engine build.

Thanks for the money tip though

Grizzle - I was really replying to ATP , his posts have become wearisome.
It is an interesting question how far men would retain their relative rank if they were divested of their clothes.

Yes I know. He's just another frustrated newbie and we've all seen that before.

My rig isnt bran new anymore and Takistan is fine but can be a bit laggy near buildings and stutter when spawning occurs but no show stopper, although Zargabad is my worst nightmare, especially when populated and ESPECIALY when ambient civ's are on, thats then a un-playable mess. I have to avoid mission on that map.

Mission 7 of campaign I was getting 14 FPS peaking a 20 the whole time, average 14 though (zargabad mission). So its playable but i just have to avoid zargabad the most. Having said that I dont rate that map so much anyway, I prefer open areas and small villages/towns to be honest.

I ran the benchmark scenario for AO and it comes up 34fps every time, check ed with FPS counter and fraps and in general id say im getting about 25-30fps, so Id say 24-25 in populated areas, 29-34 in open areas, although I have to exclude Zargabad out of that because its blatantly a CPU killer for me.

No shock as I know I need to upgrade, but the type of mission I create and want to play are small close nit skirmishes, I dont really go for large battle scenarios and I dont really play tanks and fly that much either so I dont get disappointing that much.

I tend not to sit and be and FPS counter watchmen and get angry, I simply play and feel if its ok or not, and for what ive got its fine.

I find Operation Arrowhead as an really excelent game, but with very much loss of potential to become a legend just because the campaign only offers a short showcase for different features rather than an exciting war journey. There is no interesting mission level story (like the hopeless surviving mood in resistance) and characters to follow, missions are really short and there is only few.

Operation Flashpoint and Resistance both had an revolutionary campaigns that all talked about. The reviews in game-magazines focused to praise experiences from the campaigns which I think was the main reason people wanted to try/buy the game. From ArmA1 the game serie have been leaning too much for community created content which is a irreplaceable part of the game for many (including me) but not for "mainstream"/new players who want an excelent longplay game straight from game dvd.

From ArmA1 a leading finnish gaming magazine have always complained of campaigns in reviews, also many players I know have been dissapointed. And now some are even not buying OA just because they have heard (from reviews again) that there is a very short campaign.

I strongly think that BIS arent using an good opportunity to knockdown todays 6hr playtime mainstream games with unique long campaigns. "Take a part in massive 40 mission campaign as different roles" in back of any gamedvd-case would never make me to put the game back for shelf without learning more of the game. For many, today the big campaign is even more wanted than much weapons/vehicles/unitclasses.

Many of here may say that they dont care about campaigns and only play mp with custom missions. They may be nearly majority here in forum but not in overall gamers.

    Lol ai failure

First, i would like to say the graphics on this game(Arma 2) is stunning. However the game play is shit... I say this out of frustration, do to the fact that the AI under my command cant follow orders in a timely fashion.

    Example below:

Calling for a medic: Im down and bleeding, i call for a medic and the one job this sob has to do he cant do. He sits and continues, to shoot at the enemy that he has no chance of hitting in the first place. A field medic first and most important job is to HEAL THE WOUNDED THEN KILL THE BAD GUY! Not vice versa.

AI getting stuck: This happens a lot, I have a team member down and i try to heal them enough so that medic can finish job. but i cant drag him because some invisible force is holding him too the ground. Wont let me heal them either. It starts to but then stops 2 sec after the fact.

AI is slow: In real world applications. Squad members don't normally have a hard time following there leaders orders quickly and accurately . But not in this game The AI in this game is slow to respond and slow to move/act on orders given.

This is only a few of the problems i have seen, there are more. But, otherwise the game rocks. Please if anyone of importance has read this. Try to fix the AI on single player. As well as the map blocks that are preventing motion on a object. Just a idea, but might want to look for the solution in the command item placement coding. Personally i think it might be areas of the map that are meant for objects to be placed (VIA command)that is getting the AI's stuck.

    Thank you
