Maybe instead of making this one post they should have a forum dedicated to it. It seems that people persist on posting addon requests as new threads as their comments in the Addon request thread would get lost in the mass. It would also allow people to discuss each idea further!:yay:

I am agree with you

This is a good idea, the addon request thread is a mess (I think so).
if you suggest an addon it will sink after few pages and no real discussion about making it would never open. If there were their own "section" maybe they'd get more attention, and Addons and mods discussion/completed wouldnt get spammed with addon requests :)

Actually, you're probably right. But on the other hand, I think the forum has quite enough sections already.
Maybe an Addon Request sub-section in A&M: D would be best.

This forum installment can easily handle sub-sections, right?

All for it simply because it should decrease the number of "Hey wouldn't it be great if somebody made..." threads ending up in the forums I do actually read.

I think it would also help alot more creative ideas get out there. I like putting forward suggestions as time unfortunatley doe not allow me to create addons. I put off from doing it though as the likelyhood of someone seeing it in the addons sections is low because there are so many. I'd like to see other peoples ideas and how they develop too.

I suggested something like this a while back. I would love to see it implemented as a sub-section to A&M. I'm constantly amazed at the number of people who post "wouldn't this be cool" or "i need this for blank movie/clan/etc." threads. It shouldn't be that hard. The BI Forums are obviously on a much bigger scale then anything I've ever dealt with but shouldn't it be maybe a half hour/hour thing to do at most?

good idea, saying that i often read through the addon request thread just to see what people are wanting...

Hmmmm.... Good idea.
ADDONS & MODS: SUGGESTIONS
or
ADDONS & MODS: REQUESTS
sorry for the caps, but that's how the names of the actual current Addons and Mods sections are.

I agree as well on a new Addon Request Subforum. I for one, have never opened up the "Addon Request Thread" for fear that my head may spontaneously combust!!!

Now if things were all broken down by topic, that's another story alltogether. I could easily see myself going in there frequently to have a look. :)

(And I have to admit, the way things are now, I always feel a slight sadness when someone gets their idea shut down because "they should be posting in the Addon Request Thread".)

Me to, as soon as something like that is posted a wave of sarcasm follows and the post is closed. Hopefully the post in the addon request folder but this will only get lost in the maze of addon requests for philipino special forces (or others which all use PAGST helmets and M4's).

I miss interested addons like the colonial marines/aliens, C&C or chechnya mod

the addon request forum is like f*in 4chan. Once something goes up there like an idea. within 20 minutes its buried 10 pages back by tons of other posts.

+1 Agreed.
The addon request thread atm is a little too messy and at times all over the place

I'll add my vote for all the above reasons

Thats because this thread just exists to keep the forum clean of random threads. Its not a brainstorm corner just a bin :)

Speaking of off-topic threads, shouldn't this be in the 'Ask a Moderator' thread in Off Topic?

Fail to see the point of something like that having its own forum, has anything never been made from that request topic?

I make everything that people request in that thread just to challenge myself...I just never release them.

I bet you delete all of the files again immediately after it's finished :yay:

No matter if you create a separate forum, have a separate thread, or even sticky it, people will always post first and look/use their brain later. It will still leave just as much work for moderators.

Yes it should, but merging it now would clutter the 'ask a moderator' thread too much so we leave it here.

Having an own forum for addon requests surely allows better feedback on the subject. But as John says, it also means additional work for us.

That said, we're currently discussing this but no decision has made yet. We either create the subforum or even not. :)

Ouch that's mean. :D

Well a spambot may have brought the subject up, but I would like to know if any decision has been made on this. It would unclutter the WIP and Released sections alot...

W0lle is not a spambot.

I can vouch for him. He often links me to special deals on secret viagra websites on Skype.

But seriously, what spambot?
