Check and make sure the server has the new key files that were issued with the beta2 release of ACE2 in it's ...\ArmA 2\Keys folder
They new ones are "CBA_Test2.bikey", "ACE_Test2.bikey", "ACEX_Test2.bikey", ""ACEX_PLA_Test2.bikey" and "ACEX_SM_Test2.bikey", whereas the old ones were called "*_Test.bikey"
Server has new keys, very strange issue as he and one other have had the same problem, the problem has now been fixed on his side after yet another delet/re-install of CBA after a defrag.
This was after multiple delete/re-installs along with transferring a copy of the arrays and common files from the server so have no idea as to what was his issue. Just glad it's working for him now.

You can probably work around the problem if you make a windows user account without umlaut / special symbol, but it's no solution :)

appdata/roaming is secret/protected directory as i know.First you have to configue win7 to show secret/procted directories.

I did that thing with the updater, and when it opens the web client, it just says "Oops, this link appears to be broken"

Just used Six Updater GUI, I choose the MOD above,
It has transferred all the files into the ARMA2 Folder in Programme files, on XP
I run the Game and click Multi Player, I cant enter any ACE Multi player Servers.
I keep getting cant enter bla bla bla because something something been Deleted.
Is there something Ive missed, I have been trying to find something about this on the forum but cant.
Appreciate any help

When you downloaded the .zip files did you put them in the Six Updater folder or the ArmA 2 folder, they should be in the Six Updater folder.
Did you add the Ace mods to your command line, alternatively you can use an launcher program that makes it easier like this one:

this may seem like a very stupid question and probably easy to answer....
I installed ACE2 for Arma II, and managed to check it out a bit. Now that i got back out of the game... how the heck do i get back into it to play it again??? What do i have to do? Im dumbfounded because when i launch the ARMA2 it doesnt load the mod...

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but ever since downloading the latest ACE version and/or ACEX PLA, I don't have a crosshair. I have looked in my clientside config file and tried editting the ACE 2 MOD - CROSSHAIRS section to no avail. Any suggestions?

But with the addition of the Chinese Sub-mod I think it would be a good idea to make another Russian Faction on the BLUFOR side, so mission makers can make scenarios in which the United States and Russia work together against the Chinese(Like in the Tom Clancy Novel, The Bear and the Dragon) or a Call of Duty 4-style alliance. In which the U.S helps Russia against some terrorist or rebels in a Civil War.

Just a very quick suggestion, how about an invisible backpack? It would be ideal for those units that already have one on their character models. That way you could have a backpack without having 2 of them clipping through each other.

Hi all, we (me and my clan) have a dedicated server on a server farm, we already have ACE2 ver. 195 installed and working on the server and everything is fine.
We use Addon Sync 2009 to update our client, but if we need to update our server we need to use Filezilla (an FTP client) and upload the new files (by comparing dimension and date) but it's really slow with our home connection (180MB takes me more than 1 hour)
We have only an FTP access and a HTTP access to the server, so we can start or stop it; change the command line; and modify the server.cfg but we don't have direct access
We can't ask web farm admins to update our server every 3 or 4 days, and we can't upload every time large amounts of data.
Is there any other way to keep up to date the server?

If you updated the program - how can you not know how to lauch it? Do you mean the website where you manage presets etc? Give us more info if you want help. We all know it can be frustrating when you want to play and things dont work out, but you always get help around here.

I just played with the ACE Wounding System Modul, is the System with Bandages and Morphine allready availible now, cause on the BIKI i just saw "not availible in Beta1", wondering since its updated to 2...
I want to use it for Singleplayer.If i grab it from a box, i got it, but if i add it with a "addmagazine" its not there.missed something?

Well I am sure you can. Check your spam folder for dev-heaven activation mail...that was the place where it was stored at mine.

Oh yes ofcourse you can have an icon on your desktop. In your ARMA2 directory you have ARMA2.EXE. Send that to desktop and you have it there. And in its properties/TARGET line you add: -mod=@<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden> -nosplash (check the addon names properly - im not home!). Thats the same way you do normally when launching addons with ARMA.
Even better:
Im sure though that when you use the Six Updater and install ACE2 you will get an ACE2 ARMA2 launcher icon in the ARMA2 folder wich you can just send to desktop. ;) Look into your ARMA2 folder - there should be 1 or 2 icons that says @<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden>

How can I test the HuntIR system in the editor? Do I place a box and add the following lines in the initialization field?
_vehicle addmagazinecargo ["ACE_HuntIR_monitor",10];
_vehicle addmagazinecargo ["ACE_HuntIR_M203",3];
There is a HuntIR ammo crate under Æ Ammunition in the editor containing monitors and cameras.
While were on the topic. The earplugs and kestrel are they only accesible from classnames or will they appear in a box in the future? Maybe they are but i never found them? :)

Could we please stop using the ACE thread as generic support platform?

I have a really strange bug. I can't see the new ACEX_PLA content in the editor. And the ACEX_SM hasn't changed the sound either. All other ACE related content works. Yes please, the s&^t's getting annoying. Also instead of just asking, do a forum search in the respect forum section. Almost everything people ask over and over has already been asked over and over, and answered over and over too.
Just a suggestion. It gets difficult for us that enjoy helping others with their questions when we have to keep reading through posts that have been asked a 100 times just to get to the one question that needs answering. It makes things easier for us all.

In this way nobody can't understand anything... i think it's an interesting matter to help people manage Arma2 server, there is no help to make server work fine, and the only way to get good info is the forum but if admins put everything in one BIG MESS less people will get help.. IMHO

Afaik it's not in a crate ( yet ).
I was told ues this for the editor.

Hey Sickboy :) congratulations on a twofold event - the release of ACE2 and the implementation of the SIX update service. All in all, what with your almost 24/7 presence and endless support posts, how do you think it went? I think it's a stunning achievement, surely one of the great milestones in ArmA2 lifetime.
I shared the initial confusions & niggles that many other people suffered, but having implemented it I find it looks after itself. I'm still not 100% on how it all can be configured & changed by the user, but I'm impressed that the system even exists and works for almost everyone. AND there's still the option to manually download the milestones so that's all good.
And - thanks for making a special little JTD option :) the JTD stuff will be tweaked for ACE2 and DAC usage, still standalone but specifically tested against these major developments. I've been playing ArmA2 more then tweaking JTD recently, I suggest you take some time off and do the same :) I'm having a whale of a time :)

Hmmmm. I've never seen this before. What exactly are those things you have circled in the screen shot? Maybe my brain is a bit fried this morning but I don't recall ever seeing that before. Does it happen with any other missions?

It's been mentioned already, but that should probably be posted in fromz's PLA thread. I'm not sure what his answer is regarding a fix but I'm positive he knows about it. A couple of the beta testers, myself included, mentioned this bug about a month ago during initial testing. I'm surprised he didn't get it fixed already.
One more thing, if you are gonna mention any bugs you find do not do it here. Use the DH ACE2 bug tracker(link in first post) or else the bugs you report most likely will not get noticed. Just a suggestion. The bug tracker is pretty nice tool.

You know how it goes, 1:100 happy persons will say so, while 100:1 sad persons will come and complain..
I am glad to find out that most of the choices were the correct ones, as especially scalability and compatibility were major concerns for me.
And altough we're not there just yet, things look very very good :)
I've only started programming (in general) not much over a year ago, so the Updater Suite was basically a lot of learning a long the way.
I am especially happy to see people are deploying the software in various ways, beyond the standard usage,
like to remotely manage a server, schedule the console client, or by coming up with alternative clients, like written in Visual Basic, or a linux console client.
Also happy with the people who did take the time to create a ticket, respond to my questions, or take required actions to verify a fix; Very constructive and productive.
Now with hopefully most severe issues out of the way, I hope to have some time to breath, regroup, and then deliver a mindblowing, easy to use and understand GUI.
I also hope to open up the Mods and Servers API on the Updater Portal site. So server owners / mod teams can manage their own, deploy updates, etc.
Re JTD: I experienced it fully this weekend; It was my first game in a very long time (I think the last time I seriously played arma (1/2) is like 2 years ago),
and I enjoyed the fires, smoke, and everything very much. Especially after a long time, it made me realize how great these series actually are.
Looking forward to your future releases.

Does "I" abbreviate a variable ? e.g. Illuminant?
I have tried G_I as variable but it doesnt emit any light when in a Weaponsholder.

Im sure though that when you use the Six Updater and install ACE2 you will get an ACE2 ARMA2 launcher icon in the ARMA2 folder wich you can just send to desktop. ;) Look into your ARMA2 folder - there should be 1 or 2 icons that says @<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden>

Not IN the ACE folders... In the ARMA2 root folder. I have a shortcut right there looking like this: Play ArmA2 with @<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden>;@<hidden> (the installation created it).
Send that to desktop or do as i explained with the normal modline setup.

Ok then add this to your ARMA2 shortcut you made from the standard ARMA2.EXE
Right click and choose properties. Tab "shortcut" and in the TARGET box right after the game path (after the last quote " plus 1 space) add this:

Doesn't make any difference. JTD only has a dependency on CBA, nothing else, it's nothing but new stuff layered over old stuff.

Hi guys, loving the mod. However I have not been able to play on an ace2 server since i installed the 1.05 patch. When i use the ACE2 shortcut to launch the game it tells me the 1.05 patch is available (already installed). I have reinstalled the mod and made sure it is updated. A bit stumpted as to what i should do really. Attempting to patch again just gives me a message saying the game is up to date. Any ideas? Thanks

Is it possible to reinstate the crosshair? IMO playing in 2d without aiming cues is just bs, I want to use afp's minimal crosshair mod but dont know how to make it work with ace...

Yes. At least I'm pretty sure you shouldn't use the BIS system with the ACE2 version. Xeno had mentioned it in the old thread. Now unless he's made them compatible I believe they still shouldn't be used together.

The target of your shortcut would be something like "C:\Program Files\ArmA 2\beta\arma2.exe" - simply remove the "beta\" pathing.

Im using TC Admin to start/stop the six updater, and im logging into the six updater portal on the remote server through an IP. Im able to run the updater just fine, and everything has worked fine for me for the most part. so no big problems here, but id like to know what the six updater is doing once i hit update/install. Is there a way (could one be developed) for the remote web updater to open a new tab in my browser and refresh every 5 seconds or so, letting me know what is going on with the update/install process?

This is functionality built in from the start :)
Please check "In-browser" checkbox before clicking execute, it should open an ajax-autorefreshed page which will contain the output of the updater.
Otherwise, at the "Logs" section, pick "Updater" to fetch the logfile.

Can confirm that we having the same problem on XR - Public #2 after updating. Crashed like 3times just after updating. Was fine before that. We notice the crashes happen always after a update.

I don't really see any difference either. At least, if I'm reading the changelog properly, I don't see any of the changes reported.

AI Medics in my team still do nothing when I order them to heal another team member. I may be wrong here but this seems to me to say the AI medics use the wound system now. Is this the case and am I doing something wrong?

He has vista, and is trying to install ace, he says he gets the red GUI, he clicks main, selects ace mod vanilla, clicks execute, a new black screen opens, and says arma install detected, then says mod already installed? and then says click enter.
It makes no attempt to download or install after that, any suggestions?

maybe uncheck auto skip.. then clear skip and then press execute

Could someone please explain to me again how exactly do i get the radio voice-overs to work again?
It's so annoying having to read every sentence if you want to be a bit aware of your surroundings when your teammates report in enemy presences.
Sometimes i even miss radiocalls from HQ giving me a SecOp because they are no longer audible.
I found the userconfig.
Apparently the feature works when there is no // for the correct sentence.
This is the case, so the feature started to work.
Now i tried putting a // in front of that sentence, but still no audible radio messages.
So, what exactly does the sentence in the userconfig have to look like?
Right now it looks like this: #define ACE_NOVOICE
Second thing: the PLA look great, except for their necks which are to thin, and look a bit twisted.
It makes the head look too small and pretty weird in general, while the rest of the model is great.
Anyways, don't want to complain, just observing :)

I am having some serious issues that need fixing. I updated today to 1.98 and now none of my missions are working, it locks up on the difficulty screen whenever i try to start a mission. I saw someone else post the same thing in another thread

I just noticed that i lose 15 FPS with ace, just tried same settings in 2 servers that run the same mission, only difference is that one has ace the other doesnt, ACE = 20 fps, vanilla = 35 FPS, exactly the same settings (including viewdistance) :confused: is this normal ?

Use an EASA module trailer, load up. Fly to target. Click. Boom

use the web configurator to add the Acex_sm mod to your profile then run an update and it will download and update it. They updated the instructions, so look for the same help page you used to set it for the first time.

Col, can't wait to see it! But one problem, I'm one of those guys that has web client issues (the internet page says DNS look up error every time using Six Updater - GUI). So I followed the lazy method to the "T" This method worked for me before the @<hidden>, and @<hidden> came out. But now the Six Updater console opens for a second says something on the top of the window, but it closes to fast to read. From some\(little) DOS experience I've had, it's usually something wrong with a command line, but I don't know. Did alot of reading trying to figure it out, but all I could find is the Lazy method, and "" Or if you prefer the console: (Requires six-updater.yml configuration file, either from 'lazy method', or after once web-client, main, "execute" or "save" Without Autoskip) "" . Says their the lazy method works with out the web-client, worked before. I followed it to the exact instructions, and used the six-updater.yml supplied on the page for Arma Vanilla. Any else one try the lazy method? Or can help please! Can't get in multiplayer Ace2 with out it, and that would be very bad for me!
One other thing, the old Six Updater, was replaced with the current 0.4.4.....The old one worked fine. Could some one get it to me? That may worked, or some thing over looked in the new updater for web client issues?
And I noticed the new "" Default location: C:\users\{username}\appdata\roaming\Six-Updater the .yml "" that the six-updater.yml, and latest Milestone release (".7zipped modfolders") go in to so thats not it..
The only thing I can think of is, I did not delete the old appdata\roaming\Six-Updater folder from the previous updater. I think the new updater installer would over write anything in their>

You need to turn off autoskip at the updater website. There's a box next to each mod on the set up page for autoskip.

You may want to check the original release thread as well. I think it's discussed at the end of the Beta 1 thread. A few people, myself included, had the same thing occur when I was trying to DL ACEXPLA.(Or maybe it was the sound mod as well.)

Go to this page via the updater(option 1):

Next, directly below the "Execute" button there's a box checked "Autoskip". Un-check that box then hit "Execute".
The next time you start up the Updater and hit option 2 it should stop saying skipped.

Just hit Synchronize on the Main page of the six updater webpage. That's all I did and it was added to the updater.
Yep, it's working now. Thanks. I only ever used the web client once, and it only installed ACE and ACEX; I'd been using the instant updater every time since then, so I never got the PLA or SM.

Are there any plans to fix the horrible wind?
I just noticed that i lose 15 FPS with ace, just tried same settings in 2 servers that run the same mission, only difference is that one has ace the other doesnt, ACE = 20 fps, vanilla = 35 FPS, exactly the same settings (including viewdistance) :confused: is this normal ?
ACE uses enhanced AI (smarter AI) so that will eat a bit more CPU. Different for everyone though ofcourse. But this is normal.

Dragging a wounded AI made him start spinning high speed around my feet and i pissed myself from laughter. I then later tried carry one and he did breakdancing on my head (spinning around my head) haha.

Up dated the new ace to the second beta and when you try and go "playerble as gunner" in either a lav25 or the PLA light armour you spawn wat is like in preview mode out of the vechicle. You can't move or anything. Also when you just leave it as non playable the AI is unable to shoot in the gunners seat

As I try to download ACE using the 6 - updater, the download freezes on "Trying rsync://_____________", where "_" is a server name. How do I get it to actually download? It either freezes like this, switches to a new server, or says the server has reached maximum connections, switches to a new one, then freezes on it instead.

Using latest ace... noticed when i fire a mg for a while i lose all sound... but still have menu sound... running around for like 5 minutes with no sound is really annoying and stupid i think... could the loss of sound not be made much shorter or add a ringing noise for a few seconds? :( !

*Only* If you have corrupt files or know your files are not up2date, you disable "AutoSkip", but it only does _anything at all_ if you click "Reset skip status" (http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/six-arma-updater/Web#Reset-skip-status), and then "execute".
In all other cases, leave autoskip enabled and hit execute in web-client, it will verify your modversions vs the ones that were received during synchronization (so if you synced already in past 30 minutes, but a new version was just released, you should just manually sync once),
and saves you very much time, connections, and harddrive activity :)

In short, yes. They keep adding all this stuff to canculate wind, but the wind shifts every 3 seconds and drastically changes speed every 1/4 a second so it's impossible for even the fastest person to calculate, aim, and shoot.
Wind is quite constant generally, it might gust at times, but it doesn't constantly change directions. Hell, even in a damn storm it is more constant than in this game.
Wind should stay quite constant for periods and rarely change major directions. I was trying to practice earlier, did my calculations, and prepared to shoot and the wind went from southeast to northwest instantly. Then it went to west, then it went to north, then to strong south. It makes no sense what-so-ever and it ruins sniping.
I really quite frankly, don't understand in the least what the heck they were thinking when they made it the way it is.

Where you a non-mg class? The machinegunner carry ear plugs by default, but the other classes dont. Forget about using a machinegun without ear plugs ;)
They are in the ammo boxes. Unless of course its one of those stupid missions where the designer gives you a free reign over weapons but no ammo box with ear plugs in it :rolleyes:

Also note a couple of other things:
1) A sniper team needs to understand that wind changes downrange as well. Wind conditions at target location not being the same as the final firing position. Wind effects can change quite drastically over extremely local conditions.
2) A sniper team is, well, a team. Get your spotter to inform you just when the conditions are just perfect for the setup shot.
3) Meteorological conditions are important to a sniper team to understand. Arma is in fact very very simplified.
I agree that the wind variability in Arma2 can seem excessive, but the wind force is anything but excessive. As Arma2 lacks all the other real world things to think about, I don't mind how a little wind makes a shot more difficult. You're the sniper. If the conditions doesn't allow the shot, get closer (and all the bad things that brings to the table).
No, I'm a SAW man so I don't need to worry about wind much. If you can't handle the sniping winds, maybe you should give the SAW a try? :D

i did that ofcourse. i think my problem is not related to that. read the my post again. i said i can use the masks or balaclava etc. when i use them, my face turns to default face. i didn't say that i couldn't use them.

The wind is quite nasty, true. What distances do you try to shoot? At 1500m it sure is difficult, even more in RL. In game we only have bullet drop, wind and what else?
I used to shoot 400-800m in vanilla arma without sight adjustments with a good hit percentage. Still getting hits up to 600m without major problems. The only problem is the "über" AI who can detect you even if you are dug in 6 feet deep. :(
It got worse with the latest version playing Bennys Warfare.

Don't use Any default medic modules with the Æ wounds module.
@<hidden>: Wind is default arma2 wind, nothing's been done to it apart from making it affect bullets AFAIK.
Take note that if there's no wind whatsoever, the wind direction arrow will spin around like a compass at the LHC.
The wind is not messing me up personally. Ive learned to snipe real far and do 1 shot 1 kill. The only real problem here is as stated - even with silencer the AI find me too quick. In vanilla ARMA this works real good. But i guess making them more alert in combat might affects this also(?).
Awesome rifles, awesome units and you lie there trying to be a good lil' sniper, but the AI sniff you out too quick and you have to leg it. You dont feel so cool by then. :D
Im sure ACE team gets this perfect sooner or later. Just a matter of time. ;)

It was all OK but I've cleaned all the unused files in our YAS ACE repository, just in case there were inconsistencies.
Please take the time to re-check for changes and re-sync if necessary, to make sure.

I posted a ticket about my problem with it locking up my system and coming back with all kinds of missing addon errors. So i deleted ACE from the system and tried to start fresh. Now i get this when i try to load arma

Firstly CBA is installed, activated and always worked fine until i updated to 1.98, secondly ACE no longer activates at all in my arma 2 and everything is still crashing or missing addons since the 1.98 I really don't want to have to reinstall arma to get everything working again and chance downloading ACE again. And secondly there is nothing in that support ticket link that i can see that answers my question. Just me posting my problem with no reply, unless im missing something it isnt very clear on how to get an answer on the support ticket page

When you downloaded the .zip files did you put them in the Six Updater folder or the ArmA 2 folder, they should be in the Six Updater folder.
Did you add the Ace mods to your command line, alternatively you can use an launcher program that makes it easier like this one:

I would say that I agree with all what is being said here, although maybe slap a FAQ of the most obviously asked all the time questions in the first post in massive red wording under a spoiler tag (even though you have a link im referring to the most obvious ones asked here for even more spoon feeding ref (hehe) and then lock the thread as a sticky :)
Mind you the thread is a victim of its own success, and lets not forget this is a new thread from the first beta so not sure where that search data will be (?) .. general users should reply on the dev teams behalf over here I would say.

You will be ignored because that a "frequently asked question" and a complete RTFM response, the links in the fist post source all this info. It may seem harsh or ignorant at first but imagine if everyone did the same, this thread would be a massive long endless list of the same infinite information request loop :)
I think the ACE team devs feel they need to help and sickboy seems to be very helpfull and posts as much as possible but as they are the makers and are busy fixing and updating. Maybe us mere users should moderate this thread and simply link on behalf of the team when needed and assume ACE team are only contactable via deavheaven and tickets only.
Whenever its an RTFM post a link to the first post with "all information is here" on every other question maybe :)

Search where? I searched this thread, but found only my previous 3 attempts to get a simple answer to a simple question. I searched the forum, spent 30 mins reading through meaningless discussions about the various merits of crosshairs. Fascinating, but totally unhelpful. Maybe there is an answer buried in all that hot air, but I don't have 2 hours to find it.
ACE2 is an extremely complex system, and while the documentation is highly impressive and certainly progressing well it is very far from being in any way 'user-friendly'. Until that time arrives it would help massively if those of you 'in the know' could be a little patient and helpful to the wider community instead of huffing and puffing about answering repeated questions. Maybe you could organise yourselves into shifts to patrol this thread or something, I don't know....

Crosshair should be on if you run your game in Recruit/Regular mode, if it isn't, check your game settings. ACE2 doesn't turn off the crosshair to my knowledge.

sorry but i think you are obviously more ignorant, upon checking the links including the frequently asked questions, there is absolutely no mention of how to enable the crosshair, i myself am trying to look for the answer but to no avail.

Well its to be expected and no on can blame either side realy. But as I say the FAQ arena (like has already been added too ref post above) maybe should "just for the newcommers" have a "ACE2 THREAD FAQ" which deals with that. I mean the most asked in the threads spelled out more obvious in one area for all thread newcommers along side the already linked sources. Its not my show and maybe not wanted to be done, but it may save that area of frustrations becuase if it was obvious to find then I guess a lot wouldn't repeat asking .. a little direct spoon feeding might sort that out a little :)
Then no one has any reason not to link to that to every generic post if you get me.
Check your difficulty settings, I dont think ACE2 disables the crosshair, I just checked ingame and i still had crosshair.

Well i checked the FAQ before, i did what i had to do to get my radiomessages back, but still no dice. It doesnt work, no matter what i try, so i believe i am doing something wrong with the code (hence why i dont use the bugtracker thing).
I want audible radiomessages so i dont have to read. I really dont want to play the ACE mod without audible messages.

I put an EAS module to hangar, I got plane inside, I can change weapons, but how do I load up the nuclear weapons?
I tried putting this setVariable["NUKES", 1] to players init, but it didnt work.
What planes support Nuclear weapons?

Well its to be expected and no on can blame either side realy. But as I say the FAQ arena (like has already been added too ref post above) maybe should "just for the newcommers" have a "ACE2 THREAD FAQ" which deals with that. I mean the most asked in the threads spelled out more obvious in one area for all thread newcommers along side the already linked sources. Its not my show and maybe not wanted to be done, but it may save that area of frustrations becuase if it was obvious to find then I guess a lot wouldn't repeat asking .. a little direct spoon feeding might sort that out a little :)
Then no one has any reason not to link to that to every generic post if you get me.
There is really only one reason why some people are having trouble with the ACE Mod... and that is they are simply lazy to research their own question. Now granted there are exceptions and that is exactly what this thread is about and that is the discussion of suggestions and problems pertaining to ACE2. But, some of these questions people are asking are just so damn repetitive that if they only went back a few pages they probably would find the answer! So basically Sickboy and others are doing their best to answer these questions and it would be a waste of time and energy to make another specific FAQ section that the lazy will never use, but then answering redundant questions is also a big waste of time and energy!?!

In short, yes. They keep adding all this stuff to canculate wind, but the wind shifts every 3 seconds and drastically changes speed every 1/4 a second so it's impossible for even the fastest person to calculate, aim, and shoot.

I really quite frankly, don't understand in the least what the heck they were thinking when they made it the way it is.
1. The wind speed and direction is managed by the A2 game engine. You don't like the rate of change - bitch at them.
2. I shoot benchrest rifle in real life. While the code for wind was done by another, the idea was mine, tested by me, and approved by me.
3. Where I go shooting in N. California there is wind 360 days a year. Often it shifts 45 degrees and will gust by an additional 10 mph in just 45 seconds. That never stopped me from managing to make 5-shot groups well under 1 minute of arc.

4. When testing the ACE system - I had the lead dev as my spotter. He got the average wind values while I zeroed in my scope. Then using the wind arrow I held off from that as the wind shifted. With a M-24 bolt-action vs 5 infantry scattered over 75m @<hidden> 480-500m in stormy conditions, rapid-fire. Results - 90% of the time I got all five down with one shot each, about 82% if trying for headshots.
5. A real sniper has to dope the wind, either by meter or using estimates as well as determine the range to target. ACE provides both the aids and challenges to long-range shooting. If you don't have the skills or are too lazy to learn them, then turn in your rifle for something easier to use.

ACE2 is an extremely complex system, and while the documentation is highly impressive and certainly progressing well it is very far from being in any way 'user-friendly'. Until that time arrives it would help massively if those of you 'in the know' could be a little patient and helpful to the wider community instead of huffing and puffing about answering repeated questions. Maybe you could organise yourselves into shifts to patrol this thread or something, I don't know....
then why not just answer saying 'link in first post' or something because I obviously missed it. I'm not asking the same question 3 times for the good of my health. Frankly this attitude is extremely unhelpful.
Thank you for the words about the documentation. It's been a long road just to get to this point. The fact some actually read the stuff does help.
My first goal was to get out information for players to be aware of what was out there ( an overview ) which is done. Then details for mission makers, addon creators, and other technical folk. That's largely there too.
I don't know if it's even possible to make a guide simple enough for some of the people here. I do know that such a work would not be offered for free like the wiki is since you are talking about a LOT more effort. But if you folks will pay for it, let me know.

Where you a non-mg class? The machinegunner carry ear plugs by default, but the other classes dont. Forget about using a machinegun without ear plugs ;)
They are in the ammo boxes. Unless of course its one of those stupid missions where the designer gives you a free reign over weapons but no ammo box with ear plugs in it :rolleyes:

If I was to upload the files I have to a server to update it, will it break it? I tried doing it before and got an ACE_MAIN error so I'm not sure if it was a problem or a mistake on my end.

What is the classnames of the AH-64's in ACE? Checked the list but didnt see it. I think ACE added the air to air version also?

ACE didn't add the AH64 so it doesn't belong in the ACEX vehicle list.
For reference the classname is AH64D.

EDIT: With vanilla i saw the "Normal" apache with rockets and hellfires. But with ACE i see 2 versions. Thats why i wondered. Dont understand why that classname you gave me doesnt work. All other aircraft classnames work.

servers are usually uptading via uploading files.(those who cant run uptader on server side)But you have to upload CBA,ACE and ACEX all of them.Comparimg the files on the server to modified date and uploading only necessary files will be easy.

I want to ask the same question as this guy (he didn't get an answer). I think what we need is some way to synchronise folders over FTP with one click - using Filezilla is painfully slow as you have to ctrl-click each file and transfer them manually for each folder.
Can anyone please help?

Very deep trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My ACE 2 was going well til yesterday. Now none of ACE commands go. It's very strange. Launching game with all necessary mods and got no errors. Updated game with KellyHeroes server and tool AddonSync2009 and everything was fine til yesterday. Today non of ACE keys go. What's happened?

Specifically that the old reduce AI Accuracy trigger no longer works when ACE is running.
There has been an update today. Please update your ACE via Six-updater or YAS or any other method.

It is something with your server, or the mods you are running. We have ACE running stable for hours.

Version is latest I checked on selection menu but ingame ACE commands won't go anymore.... example ..page up and page down should adjust nvg's brightness. now make me stand or going prone. Seems like all my ACE2 commands were disabilitated. It's very strange don't know what to do.

and don't worry about the KH server, i got the rpts and logs checked every now and then
IF you are using the YAS updater, make sure you remove the old files via YAS menus.
BTW, YAS is not a supported mean of update, so if you are using that and not really know how to do it properly, don't come in here saying you got the bugz.

Hello, Just gotta say love this mod, I havent had any problems until today when i noticed that some of my weapons is being held wrong , this is only (i think) for my other weapon packs, rh m416 and rhm4/16 , for ex: almost all these weapons are being held like a weapon with extra grip when there is none wich is really anoying. also other weapon packs, downloaded the swedish pack today(since im swedish:). and the same problem with the ak5s. I started arma2 without the ACE extra and then everything was back to normal, so some file in ACEX is messing this up, just cant find out wich, or why. Anyone else had the same problem?. Sorry if im posting in the wrong place.

I thought about that since the first Ace realease for arma1. what if you try to get Ace in WW2 era (once your done with betas :D)
theres already some addons made for ww2 stuff , we just need to adapt the game for the time (no gps , stabilisation for tanks , portable radios , less information in general...) and pimp it the ACE way (with wounds , effects , weapons handling...)

As to keys not working, there has been some minor low-level changes to CBA and ACE to allow for some workarounds and fixes.
If you have updated ACE, but not CBA, that is most likely the problem. (Latest CBA is available on Six Updater, and soon also as true release)
Re server crashes:
We have mostly reports about increased stability, even up to 100%.
Generally, make sure all the required mods are up2date, Six Updater and Addonsync servers provide this.
Signature checking is a great ally against server crashes, especially now that there's some older ACE versions out there that cause problems. (Don't forget Battle Eye either).
Also, with 1.05's changes, you might simply be running (or allowing) mods that need updating too (arma2.rpt is your friend).
About other problems; reports without arma2.rpt's, details, and possibly repro steps are impossible to resolve, please, setup tickets with the required details (http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/ace-mod2/Bugz), and we should be able to actually trace and determine and possibly resolve or workaround the issues.

How can someone fix "it", without knowing what is causing the "it"? I mean no offense here, but coming on and saying "hey, there has been a server crash" and no additional info is not gonna work.
Best thing would be to report the server crash on KH forums, shoutbox, or to any KH members on the TS3 server, so an admin can look over the rpts/logs and eventually post them on the issue tracker.

Yes, it is due to changed models for the M4 family that comes with ACEX. The handgrip animation is changed for those. Not really an ACE issue here, since RH pack is not supported

in theory you could, in practice, depends on the scenario you are playing (SP/MP etc), BUT you shouldn't be able to. Basically removing the M4s will remove others M4s added with ACEX, and break the ammo crates etc, ending up with more prbs than solved.
As a general rule, you shouldn't be dissabling pbos, as they are linked to each other.
With some patience, there will be added in some foreseeable future the HK family to ACEX, modeled by panda

Whats the brown pouch looking thing mounted oin most US infantry rifles? Is that the IR strobe emitter? If so how do I see it when i put on my NV?
Also, which file shoild I edit to turn up the accuracy of the units in general? They seem to be missing pretty easy shots, the support gunners just make noise more than anything and spray all around the target theyre firing at.

I only bring this up because sometimes you just want to play for an hour or so and this can really eat up time trying to run to a target.

Still seeing alot of people trying to join with wrong versions.
Most important that in the ACE Updater Web client / main to Enable AutoSkip and Reset Skip Data before executing.
Be sure to have CBA, ACE, ACEX, ACEX_PLA, ACE_SM in your presets.
then come and join the 169th Expert warfare server where realism is taken seriously. No externals etc.

Just curious, why are you not supporting YAS? I'm sure people will adapt if you don't, but it seems like it would be easier to support it.

Just a quick idea, not sure if this is the place to post suggestions, but I'll give it a punt. :D
Would it be possible for you to add an invisible backpack? The reason I ask is that lots of infantry models already have a pack attached to them which they can't use in ACE. These packs often look weird when paired with an ACE pack, you get a sort of overlap effect. This is a bit of a game breaker for some unit models on ops where you need to carry a pack full of stuff. An invisible pack that would provide functionality to pack-equipped units (or even just regular units if the player didn't want his pack visible) would be very handy.
That said if there is already some sort of a fix for hiding a backpack please let me know. :D
Evening all!! I did use the search function to no avail. And don't have time to read the entire thread, so here's my question. I lease a server from Defcon Servers, and installed the ACE Mod on it. The problem im having is the client and server versions do not match. Could anyone tell me how to update the server side?? Defcon says I have to do it manually!! Thanks in advance!!!

There should be a module you can use wich removes the stamina effect.
