This is the mission where you fly a plane. I am pretty bad at it. Can hardly target anything. Is it possible to "win" this mission at all, since the next mission is "escape from prison"?

No, you'll always run out of gas at the end and have to eject.

But you can destroy all the tanks.

If you dont want to get shot down before you have to bail out go straight for the shilkas. Its difficult to kill all the tanks but it can be done. Its just you dont have that much time.
