I can\'t reinstall the game

I had a problem with the game freezing up and followed the advice from tech support.This included uninstalling the game and deleting all but a few files I could re-use in the new install.
When I try to install the game now, it says"file copy error(crc does not match files\codemaster\ofp\dta\hwtl\data.pbo", and the install is aborted. They said I should run scanreg.exe too. I dont have scanreg.exe. What and where is it?
Any help will be welcome.

might want to run "regedit" in the run bar and then search for "flashpoint" and delete all the flash point key locals you find, reboot then start again

In regedit I found 5 files of flashpoint in a folder called "CO7ft5Y". 4 of them were obvios OFP files and 1 was named WinXP(which I am running). Do I delete "CO7ft5Y", which contains the others and what about the 1 named WinXP?

Maybe it would be enough to use an auto registry cleaner such as CleanDiskPro, available as shareware from http://www.haysoft.com/cleandiskproeng.php3
