I just want to say Thank You for being such a great software company and providing myself and the community with the use of your excellent products.
Day after day your company improves the product and continues to make it better and better. Will it ever end? (I hope not)
Every day I look forward to playing ArmA 2 for at least an hour and every time I play I meet new people and experience something new in the game.
I could go on and on about how vast and great ArmA 2 is ... The realism is unbeleivable, the animations are realistic, birds and dragon flies! ...
RAINBOWS! I mean c'mon! What game has Rainbows in it?!?!?! (A rainbow is beleived to be a promise from God himself!)
Amazing Game! Superb! Excellent! Top Notch! It stands alone and is the only reason I even own a computer! :)
Again, I Thank You!
You are much appreciated even if so many of us seem to just complain, complain, complain.
They have great support, but they still need some lessons in the release department ;)

Hey all,
i just signed up here and thanks to pchaxor everything has been said that i wanted to say too but i also would like to ask a question.
How alive is this community, can we expect ARMA 2 to be played years from now? I know that nobody can predict the future but since i am so totally new to this community i would really like to hear how some of you arma veterans see that. I certainly do hope it will be around for long! Which leads to the question.. was ARMA 2 actually a success for bohemia? I refused buying ARMA2 because of the bad press that was pointing its fingers at the bugs but now that i have gotten it from steam and a few patches have been there since then, i must say holy lord, this game is the best military game i have ever seen and i am absolutely in love with it. My only concern is that this love wont last for long as the community vanishes more and more to other games.. or do you guys think that concern is unreasoned? :j: :)
Btw. i also bought OF2 (preordered it) and i must say.. this game sucked hard! I wish i could have given that money to Bohemia in the first place by buying the retail version of ARMA2 and not the 20 bucks version on steam. ;)
Anyways cheers,
rascal
P.S. Glad to have found that awesome community and game
P.S.2 Already looking forward to Arrowhead!

Dont worry sir, no ones going anyplace that's for damn sure. You will notice a lot move over to "sample something" only to come back with business as usual. Im no vet but ive been around since oct 2007 when i got Arma1 (which I seeked out and looked for than stumbled upon) and this place is as hardcore, helpful and full on with mods and updates / patches and has never stopped, always something to read, download, test, feedback, enjoy, post, request ... its as infinite as the sandbox its built around :)
I see all the usual suspects posting new updates, porting and beta testing for Arma2 from Arma1 .. it was not far after A2 release and the mods started to flow, Id say about now the momentum is real healthy like Arma1 for arma2 section now. Even Arma1 has a new patch on the way and mods are still being updated and added.
I will be kaning Arma2 with mods and Arrowhead easy for the next 2 years, I can say that with confidence.
Arma 2 - great software, great developers, great community. They all deserve kudos and it's nice to see people periodically praise them.
I second tractorking too, it's perfectly possible to enjoy more than one game, they all have their merits.

Vet since 2001 Here. The community is only growing since then and I have no fear that 10+ years from now we will all still be here should the Holy One permit. There is no limit for BIS and the software to come will surely surpass what is current. Operation Arrowhead is coming! (I AM SOOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!) ArmA 2 is a success for sure for BIS. As for the community it is a success on a daily basis. Addons and missions being create constantly. BIS allows the community to create content that most others would call "DLC" and charge you for. As of the latest 1.05 beta (1.04.60000) I am hard pressed to find any bugs or have any crashes. Bad Press comes only from those that do not know that BIS stands behind their products and fixes them. The Bad press is temporary and harmless in the long term. The ArmA community is not going to die off. If it was it would have died over 7 years ago.
Thanks W0lle for enforcing the thread topic.
"other game talk"
We could go on and on about why you can't compare ArmA 2 to other games etc. This is not a debate thread. I am sure there are plenty of other threads out there that will satisfy your need to complain and "try" to compair. Not this one, please. Thanks for moving on!
Again Thanks to BIS and all the staff for creating this software.

Please try to keep the posts on topic. Sad to see people coming in here trolling and trying to pick a fight.
If you don't like ArmA 2, then don't play it. If you don't think BIS deserves props and a thanks then move on. :)
This thread is to give thanks to BIS and allow others to do the same in whatever way they choose.
Discussion of other games and such has no place in this thread. Sorry.
Thanks W0lle for keeping this thread clean.
All offtopic discussion deleted. Don't even think to derail the thread again with COD, BF, DR or whatever discussion. You wanna praise one of these titles? Then use the respective fan/developer forums.

Basically my feelings. Signed.
I know im one of those people who just complain complain complain, but in the longterm I know that BIS will actually take those complaints/ideas into account rather than blowing them off like some other developers.
Which makes BIS special.
I can't remember the last time I was so excited for mods to come out and patches to come out, 1.05 will really help this game, might even get a few more sales if BIS and 505 could do alittle marketing with it, get the "this game is full of bugs/glitches" mentality off the consumers mind. :D

after the OFP Demo i bought every product from this serie in collectors edition if it was available and OFP+RES+ArmedAssault+ARMA2 makes half my PC games collection. I have to say im so impressed by arma, it blows anything else out of the water so to speak. The possibilites are endless with this game and the community around the game are building stuff every day.
Arma is by far one of the best games in the genre, speaking from 15 years of PC gaming experience

yes Thanks BIS, i got my CD today can't install till my b'day though....its a pressy from my better half. i could have gone for anything but the demo sucked me in so hard i needed the full version.
WTG guys keep up the good work :D
A Happy birthday in foward! :) Oh man, I imagine that the CD is tempting you to install it. ;)
I share the opinion of the OP, afterall these years of awesome games it's quite a feat that BI stayed what they did best. I can't say that for most companies, sooner or later they would disappoint me by overly mainstreaming their products for more profit.
I remember as if it was yesterday when I tried the demo of Operation Flashpoint, I was really astonished and at the same time impressed. It was a dream come true, and played the demo longer than I played any other demo. When I finally bought the Gold version of OFP I was even more impressed.
My only concern is that this love wont last for long as the community vanishes more and more to other games.. or do you guys think that concern is unreasoned?
What other games? :D There isn't a lot of competition in this field. Hmm maybe I should rephrase that. There isn't any competition. ;)
Thanks BI for all those years!
A while back I found a Thank you BI video on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lExET8zP2Mc
I run Saturday nights with 7 fellows that like to race and shoot. One of the guys got this game on the advice from a guy he worked with. He told us about it so I got the demo. It was good enough to peak my interest. Then Steam had the half off sale about 3 weeks ago. I bought myself a copy and my Brother-in-Law one. Then 2 of the other guys got and copy and then the 6th. In other words, this game is pulling people into its massive world! Although all the modding, etc. can be quite overwhelming, we are working together and figuring it out. I've also had my nose in posts and instructions far more than I care to admit. So to BIS and all you mod makers. Thank you! We finally have a game like the original Ghost Recon, but with all the glory of updated technology. Hmmm, wonder if I can convince my wife I need another 285 video card for SLI for this baby?

Seeing where the business is going i also suddenly feel a slight urge to express my sincerest thanks to BI! You guys are some of the very few developers who push boundaries in gaming, instead of jumping each & every "stoopid kiddy and console games sell good" or "all your os are belong to us microsoft yay sayers" bandwagon.
Dedicated PC games are dying and most (idiotic) users applaud furiously.
pls don´t give in :)

Yes, thanks BI....I've purchased OPF I, ARMA Gold & ARMA II because of all the positive things said in this thread. I will purchase Arrowhead as well. This is the only PC game software that has kept my interest this long term because it keeps evolving in something better. I'm always coming back
pls don´t give in :)
For sure.
I am looking forward to ArmA 2 taking over where OpF left off.
I'm looking forward to it to it still being playable in 8 years time, (which it will be) and I'm looking forward to the many community releases that make this game truly what it is and last so long.
BIS you bring a tear to my eye.
If you build it, they will come.

from what i have seen on these forums, there is a real sense of love for the game and BIS, THAT isn't something another game maker can boast. purely because BIS seemingly work with its community they strive to make things work rather than simply line their own pockets. Yes the latter is important but even from being on these forums and only being able to play the demo, i see BIS as an oldschool company where its customers are formost. How many gaming companies can boast this? i bet it isn't many.
keep up the great work guys you are doing us and your selves proud ;)
I've been following OFP since early previews in 2000, then the demo, then the full OFP in 2001, then Red Hammer, Resistence, Arma 1, Queen's Gambit and Arma 2 (x2)... All those little boxes are standing on my shelf, and that's the only game I still play on a regular basis. Thank you BIS. I'm saving for AO and Carrier Command already.
And the weirdest of all... I only fight about 30% of the time... having fun goofing around in the editor the rest of the time...

I seriously cannot wait for Operation Arrowhead with the performance issues being addressed with 1.05 and further patches and FLIR/Flashlights expanded Editor, Real time Editor (probably being released) hopefully some improved AI, and ease of running scripts this game will deffinetly be my Game of the Year for 2010, Running up behind it Star Craft 2 (Hopefully), Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction. :D

This game is all i play now
I jumped ship from ofp to ARMA2 and never played ARMA because i never knew it was OFP until later 2008 and i said i'll just wait till ARMA 2 comes out. It feels just like OFP in a modern game with more features
BIS support the community, i support BIS.
The bugs are normal because of parts availablity for pc's and the huge open world environment and possibilities of this game.
No one else can make a game like this and if they did i bet it will have more bugs than ARMA.
Only way to eliminate bugs is for community to play the game. Remember BIS is listening to us and do an awesome hard worked job considering they're not a very big company. A proven track record started with OFP CWC
...but I wanted to send my gratitude to the Bohemia group. I've played the Codemasters OFDR for about 3 hours and it gives me nothing but an urge to scream. How can they downgrade a title like this (Operation Flashpoint) to the very floor and still speak highly of it?
This is meant to be a cheer to Arma II and the developers (+ the modding community) that still keep the goals high. I know this has been said before, but I'd like to join the crowd and praise the development in that same direction we PC players like to see Bohemia is going in the future...
Good on you for not giving into the IQ-free world of console gaming B!
ArmA II rocks!
I actually think OFDR had potential but now its just dustbin material. Codemasters has irreparably pissed of the PC community.
Conversely this seems to have led new folk to Arma2 and also like me realize what a great game Arma is, with developer and community working together.
For depressing disinchantment head over to OFDR forum for such great topics as:
CLASS ACTION: false-advertising - delted by codemasters
There will be no dedicated servers - official
How to get your money back of Play.com
Extremly unsatisfied
Useless!
OFDR is dead!
ect ect
Thankyou Codemasters for making gamers re-embrace there love for Bohemia:yay:
Moved one of the old 'thanks BI' threads over here and made it sticky. From now on this is the only 'thanks BI' thread, please refrain from starting any other one.
And please, no DR discussion here. We have a thread for that in the offtopic forum.
Yea, thanks Wolle, sry for posting out of place, didnt see this thread... Just wanted to express myself regarding the two... :)

I couldnt agree more. :yay:
Also, the tools are so elegant and simple, anyone can use them but still have limitless scenariois to create. Combined with community addons, I can spend hours and days in the mission editor. I find myself playing in epic missions until 430 in the morning sometimes.....healing each other, providing covering fire, tactical gamplay....just brilliant at times. (followed by times of epic failure of course lol) What a great game and community you'vre created. CHEERS!

Now i have played the game almost nonstop since it was installed on sunday 22 nov, i will say honestly hand on heart.....and then back on keyboard,..
i aint ever owned a game like it. BIS have no rivals in my eyes, the dedication to its customers is second to non, the beta patch update is faster than an A10 can empty a magazine. its completely mind blowing what actually goes on here.
BIS are probably king of the hill out of all the game makers but not recognised for thier efforts. i think we the players should now strive to make A2 and or when released AO Game of the year 2010 ;)

Yeah, thank you BIS. OFP is one of my favourite games(HL,OFP,MOHAA,Q3)

Great story there... :D Happy days for you :yay:
After being ripped off so many times and having to deal with so many shitty games that just don't work properly I am glad to see at least ONE games company attempting to fix the problems it caused when rushing out a barely release.
I can't say I agree with you about putting your game on DRM and making people use that kind of crap ( I honestly think you'd sell far more if you removed it ) but after being ripped off when buying Empire Total War, Fallout 3 and Team Fortress 2 I would like to say thank you for bothering to keep updating your game and make sure you at least have a finished product ready to sell instead of just leaving it for years without even fixing the major problems with it.

Merry Christmas to you BIS and all forum members. May the star of BIS shine forever on the gaming sky.
ESPECIALLY: To all moderators. Merry Christmas to all of you.
Well what can I say?
While Operation Flashpoint is my favourite game of all time that crushes any other... and that I am still addicted to it after all these years... and that it began my military interest... and that I wouldn't be the same... and those memories connected with ofp and arma...
Sounds childlish? So what! I am very sentimental with this series.
Thank you BIS, I say again, Thank you BIS.

Funny thing how our little "Soldier is history" evolved into "SCRATCH ONE!" :D :D :D
Hi everyone
I just want to team up and pay my respect to BIS. I have to emphasize how much I appreciate your work, even though you properly already know. Also a deep respect to all the people who dedicate so much time developing add-ons keeping it alive.
As more and more simulations and serious games diminishes due to simple consoles, requiring no more than 4 buttons and a buy and throw away mentality, its refreshing to see developers who respect the consumer and delivers a product with a so far unseen base for expansion, in great contrast to some of the other developers on the market...
I hope to see the community live well on for years to come. It deserves it.
I humble thanks but big respect to all of you
:thanx:

I am a diehard GR player and for many years could not look at any other game because none seem to come close to the mark for me in intensity and tactically speaking.
I tried the MOHs and the CODs and all the rest but none of them matched OGR for COOP.
I even tried Arma and really wanted that to work out bcoz it was close to what I was looking for but I just couldn't get past the AI who saw through cover and the towns which all looked the same. Yes it was close, but not quite there.
Then Arma2 rolled in......thank you.
I decided to save the opinions until I had really played it to make sure it was as good as I felt it was going to be.
And it is....to the Devs who developed that new method of tree cover - brilliant.
The villages which all have their own character and feel...gorgeous.
The dramatically improved LODs and LODing system - almost unnoticeable now.
The weapons view and feel is superb too now and the feel of the character as he moves through the environment is excellent.
No game will ever be 100% perfect and there will always be things that ppl want in a game that wont be there. Many ppl will moan about the things that arent there but offer no praise for the things that are. But to the BIS Devs, thank you for putting in the effort to continue to push this game forward and improve, not cut back on content, as you progress.
I can honestly say for the first time since 2001 that I can move on from GR.
Really looking forward to what you will bring us in Op Arrowhead - can't wait.
Cheers
Lightspeed
ps to the Modders who also continue to push the boundaries and deliver fresh content to the community - thank you too. I am certain Arma 2 would not be the game it is today without your community input and innovation.

True, but for some nice and smooth CQC its good to have Rainbow Six (everything before Athena Sword) on the drive :)

Always good to see some more old GR mates like ArmA 2. Welcome :)
Nothing still can compete with GR IMHO, but for me ArmA and ArmA 2 are the best games out there now which give me what I want in a game.
Ghost Recon has a special place though and the 5 years of fun I had with it will never be forgotten. I can still look at the CD's and relive all those fun moments. I met some good folks in the GR community who nowadays have become true friends who I meet every year a few times across different countries in Europe.
And of course I run Armaholic with a few of them :)

I agree with Lightspeed and would also like to extend a thank you to the developers for this game. I was a COD player on the console systems and have only recently got into computer gaming in Sept. when I bought a gaming CPU and Fallout 3. I have become a fan of CPU gaming now, even know it has its problems and it is not as simple plug and play, you just can't compare to the better graphics and modding capabilities of CPU games. When I bought Arma2 I was looking for something better, and I definately found it. I was tired of playing a game where it took a whole clip of ammo to kill an enemy, no bullet balistics (getting sniped from 200 yards with a pistol), people running at you through a LMG firing at them and then they knife you from 20 ft away and above all a game with no real tactics (only worry about their Kill to Death ratio, not the objectives), to it and people just run and gun all day long i.e. COD. I have yet to try Arma2 in multiplayer yet, as I am still trying to get better at the game, but I think I will be more than impressed when I do. On top of that, as Light said, the community and modders in the community, are amazing so I would like to extend a big thank you to them. The forums are well run and the moderators really do care about this forum, which is a nice change from the norm among some forums out there.
In closing one final thank you to the developers, the modders, the community itself and the moderators!

Signed too.
It was the best investment of PC gaming in my hole life. I own every title . . . playing for 9 years straight. The only negative aspect is, that I can't enjoy other war games anymore, except Ghost Recon the original one and the Silent Hunter series but that's about it. Tried lot's of different games but I found out that I got no satisfaction playing them so they are staying on the shelve. I'm getting very quickly bored with other games.
No other video game has ever given me such thrills as the BIS titles. Nothing has ever been so immersive to me.
Thanks for having invented the best game ever.:D
Kind regards

Imagine something: How many game studios develop their games mainly for PC platform? And how many develop them ONLY for PC platform, as the games for consoles make a way better profit (and that is a sad fact). Thanks BIS for doing games, that really show you the performance potential of the computers, as they look so great, including graphics, visibility range...games like ArmA are the reason, why I upgrade my pc regularly, and I dont regret that money. Thats also why I buy every BIS game when it comes out, instead of getting the pirate version as usually :) In the end, I'm proud that it comes from the same country as me. Well, now just wait for the arrowhead, and the gtx470s available :)

I started the series with arma, played ofp for a bit, but mostly arma warfare and sahrani life.
Then moved onto arma2 and I will gladly say that I'm gonna stick with BIS for many years fo come :)

great game, thank you very much BIS.
thanks also for supporting modders the way you have been. i'm just in the process of moving here from modding Battlefield 2, where modders were treated more like wino's with BO and flatulence... it's great to find somewhere where modding isn't a dirty word. thanks again.

I.ve been playing Joint Operations since 2005,. It really been the only thing keeping me going in FPS gamming,. BF2-SF and COD2 were around back then, They lasted for less than 100hrs of my time lol. Thats the only COD title I own I figured they all the same just take place in different times, Senerios change, Gamplay stays the same shit level its been since day one lol. any way what Im getting at is this is the best Military fps I ever played and I dont think anyone will match this other then the creators at Bohemia themselves.. Well F*n Done!

Played the series since 2005 but stopped due to my old laptop getting killed by a nerf football.
It is nice to see some familiar faces around still like Placebo and UZIYAHU--IDF Since I havent been active in the forums since 06.
I cant wait to give ARMAII a shot.
Keep up the good work guys and way to stay true to the game unlike Codemasters.

Yeah tell me about it, no doubt i will be spending more in the future!!
Tell you what, i think BI should start selling PC's!! So many people buy new PC's for their titles, if they could buy from BI, BI would make a MINT!!!! i know i buy from them would! They could optimise them to run ARMA 2 and heve them come with ARMA (and the future OA) already installed lol
ps Maybe i should think about spending the same amount of money on spelling lessions lol:rolleyes:
Dunno if already told this, tho my friends occasionally got spammed by my ArmA 2 (and even ACE sometimes) love declaration
Thank You BIS for true Operation Flashpoint 2. It's just... great :)

I have tried that ARMA2 demo. Nice work. Awesome graphics there. But still I will remain in OFP.
With addons you can mod this game as good as ARMA/ARMA2(maybe soon ARMA3). That's actually an obvious lie. Why? If You see only "awesome graphics" of this game, then You're so wrong.
Check physics system (I love driving tanks over the cars), play some missions, make some with the great modules system. See what You can do. Try ACE2 someday. See what this game was made for.
Feel the atmosphere.
That's it. That's still OFP, just better, because dated 2009 and made to stand up for 2009's standards.

Once again - THANKS!
First game/sim I have ever given top score. Operation Arrowhead will set a mile stone for virtual combat for years to come. Thank to Bohemia interactive this simulator haven't fallen into the mainstream market and become a simple shooter.
Yup, awesome game. Well worth working further on too!

Great game and content, but the Real Virtuality engine still needs alot of work in the area of Filemanagement/RAM usage and LOD handling with trees and while in cities/villages
Performance is still pretty bad too
But Excellent content and missions super impressed so far and using all this content in regular Arma 2 is more icing on the cake.
Bravo BIS.

Thank you BIS, thanks a lot.
I don't know what I would have done without ArmA when I was unemployed, I would have probalby felt into drugs and alcohol (I mean deeper than I was).
Some find Jesus, I found ArmA and I became a disciple.
But I'd also like to thank this community (if anyone is still reading) because this game would not be what it is without the community ( addon makers, mission makers, fan sites,...)
Those guys, who work hard in the back of their garage, between the lawn mower and the old broken coffee machine, making unbelievable stuff for nutshell, those guys made ArmA almost as much as BIS did.
And for me this goes waaaayyy beyond gaming. they spent hundreds of hours making addons for us and they don't expect money in return, hell
they don't even ask us to say thank you. Such a behaviour is so rare in our times
All in all we have an unique company making an unique game for an unique community.
And I'm f*cking glad to be part of the adventure, even if it's on the smallest scale possible, it really worth it.

I've got my OA licensed copy on 29th afternoon, Hong Kong, China.
Thanks BIS and all great people who have thrown their ideas to make the simulator close to its perfect balance. Congrats to all military lovers for a wonderful expansion-experience which is absent long enough in PC game industry.
I've got my OA licensed copy on 29th afternoon, Hong Kong, China. Painless installation within 10 mins, I've completed all official missions/campaign at once within next 24 hr.
My mid-end machine(3cores, win7/64, 6GB, GTX295) handle OK for all graphics. with 40+ fps, I set everything close to the MAX that I would expect for the realistic atmosphere, a very good consideration for mid-class gamers.
I played all missions/campaign without any bugs noticeable. The plot, RPG switching, weapon(little bag!) picking&loading are smooth and story is basically satisfying for teenagers. Adults may pay more attention to the code implementation(e.g. FLIR, UAV) or enjoy the combined combat with several troops co-op with a GO-code.
I've updated to 1.52 in my second campaign attempt. The result is exciting to learn how BIS can improve the game logic itself, though the Recoil level in 1.52 is not designed for ladies, I believe.
It is a wonderful adventure with BIS & all the community mods. Thanks much!!

About this OFP game. This is what I like here: It's programmed very good. It's stable and reliable. That's how the games SHOULD be. Other great programming masterpieces are: SWOTL by Lucas Arts, Red Faction by THQ, Syndicate by Bullfrog and Doom by ID software.
The last 10 years have been great, starting with Operation Flashpoint, through Operation Arrowhead, and everything in between. I look forward to the next 10, and beyond.

Secops is a module that can be used in the editor. Short for Secondary Operations, the player is given random tasks to complete. It is also available in ArmA II.

Thank you, BIS, for the continuous support of your games and your community, for OA which is easily the best game ever, and for not yielding to the creeping "consolification" of PC gaming as practiced by most other companies. You stayed true to your roots, and your playerbase, unlike some, er.... "other company" that claimed to be the successor to Operation Flashpoint.

Yeah, from time to time, I feel the need to say 'Thank you' again.
It's so amazing that BI games keep me away from doing any other games since 2001.
And with OA I got the feeling of the famous ol' atmosphere of the first and one and only original BI - Operation Flashpoint again.
Thank you!
(I just read that the idea of BIS the one of immensely open games are goin' to get copied more and more by competitors of BI Studios now. Their marketing specialists will soon begin to betray the world saying that THEY invented this great idea. They will do a lot shiny covers, pay for 'good reviews' and people will get mislead. That's the world, many people would even sell their own mothers ... ).
I hope that BIS will always be know of THE ONES who opened the virtual world of combat to people, like it says in my signature.

Just thought I'd stop by to say, like I've said a few times in the past, it's sometimes the little things that make all the difference.
A few weeks ago, I had a small LAN session going. It was me, my younger brother(who bought his copy around the same time I did), another friend(who I convinced to buy the game during the Sprocket Thanksgiving sale, after missing the Steam one. Wouldn't have happened otherwise, so, thanks for having that sale), and an old buddy of mine from the Air Force(who knew about the game, but never played it).
We played a bunch of games on Steam, L4D and all those. After that, our other friend went off to play some Gran Turismo 5(he'd just bought it, along with a racing wheel), while my brother started up his copy of ARMA. That's when I thought, "wait a sec." and I asked him if he wanted to test a custom mission with our Airman friend, he said "let's do it." My friend also agreed to try it out. I started up ARMA, went into the editor, loaded up my mission, and asked him what kind of loadout he wanted(it was a simple "terrorist hunt"-styled mission, like the ones I used to play in the old Ghost Recon), and he picked some sniping equipment. Thermal scope and everything. So, I let my friend use my computer, and watched them fire up the mission. When they got into a firefight, almost immediately, my friend realized he was going to have trouble taking anyone out with that rifle (my fault. I had them start out too close to the village for sniping). So, I went back into the editor and gave his unit an M16 with an ACOG. They tried it again, and sure enough, the new loadout was just right for that mission, and he did much better this time. He was really getting into it, pointing out targets and whatnot. They cleared the village, grabbed a few satchels from some ammo crates, took a few tanks out, and finally completed the mission.
I asked my friend what he thought about the difficulty, he said it wasn't too bad. Then I asked him if I used too much fog. He said the fog was fine, the only thing bugging him was the sun. told him we could fix that. He liked the mission, overall.
Then, a few days later, while I was talking to that same friend, I remembered something. When we watched The Expendables, he got all excited when they showed the AA-12. So, I told him, "you know what, man? I forgot to mention that we have the AA-12 in the game, now." and right away, he said, "Nice." and I started laughing. All confused, he asked, "what?" I said, "nothing, just remembered something funny." He said, "oh. well, I'm gonna buy that game, now." He actually liked the game enough that he offered to rent a Ventrilo server for when we all play. I said, "right on. I'll have to get back to making more missions, then."
While I'm sure my Airman friend was going to buy ARMA, anyway(after showing him that mission), adding the AA-12 to the game made it much easier for me to convince one more person to play it.
So, again, thanks for that Thanksgiving sale, and the DLC, guys. Looking forward to more of the same(and, well, different too. why not? (Carrier Command)).
(TLDR: Got more people to join me in these games with the help of your sales and DLC. Thanks.)

agree~~~~and play what you like have fun,we love military games,we love arma ,so do not think about what others say,we always like it!:)
(Copied from a thread I made in the General discussion area)
I know this has been said to death (and rightfully so), but I wanted to take a moment and express my own thanks and 'applause' to both the Arma2 team and all the makers of the mods I am currently using.
Arma2 is really an incredible piece of work on its own, not only in the incredible feat that it accomplishes (for the most part!)... controlling what truly is chaos! The open world and complexity of the various elements boggles the mind, as far as how many things (that are normally taken for granted) have to be considered and coded... yet the team really managed it.
The AI has been criticized by some, but personally, I've been impressed, for the most part. Sure, you get some WTF moments, but considering the complexity of the world and all the things each unit has to interact with (convincingly), it's amazing that it accomplishes so much already.
The sim is incredible value, too... Even to this day, I 'discover' new parts of the sim I haven't explored yet. Just as an infantry simulator alone, it's impressive, but throw in the huge variety of vehicals (air, land, water), and it's even more impressive. Granted, it's not (for example) a full flight sim... but what IS there is immersive and entertaining. Flying a copter around the vast world alone is quite an experience... and I still remember my surprise and the 'wow' factor with each new vehical I discovered... 'What? You can fly an A-10?! Huh?! You can fly that BIG plane sitting there, too!?!'
And then there's the Armoury, and how that even throws mini-missions at you... and lets you try even civilian vehicals, if you feel so inclined.... and have a nice drive through the country (which is so beautifully rendered, it's actually worth it!)...giving you even more options... and the multiplayer... and so on.
Heck, it's also a rabbit simulator!
Then, of course, all the mods... making the experience even more incredible.
I've just installed a few, and played a session... complete with a TrackIR... and it's nothing short of stunning. The immersion is amazing... the tension, the battle around you... The people who immediately wrote Arma2 off as 'a boring lay in the grass' really didn't give it a chance. The amazing amount of wow moments are surprising, considering that this is not some pre-scripted piece of animation that the player walks through (...you know the games I'm talking about!).
So, ya, it's been said many times before... and arguably schmaltzy.... but I really want to applaud the Arma2 team and the modders. It's great to see a game of solid quality, value and depth.
...now, I'll get back to asking about issues people already asked about 100 times before, and other annoying posts.
Cheers!

Yeah, nice vid and nice continous support by BIS with beta-patches!
Nothing we paid for and unpayable at the same time.
Never forget the "Thank you video" from Tophe - below in signature!

My only concern is that this love wont last for long as the community vanishes more and more to other games..
or do you guys think that concern is unreasoned?

Dont worry sir, no ones going anyplace that's for damn sure. You will notice a lot move over to "sample something"
only to come back with business as usual. Im no vet but ive been around since oct 2007 when i got Arma1 (which I seeked
out and looked for than stumbled upon) and this place is as hardcore, helpful and full on with mods and updates / patches
and has never stopped, always something to read, download, test, feedback, enjoy, post, request ... its as infinite as the sandbox its built around
I see all the usual suspects posting new updates, porting and beta testing for Arma2 from Arma1 .. it was not far after
A2 release and the mods started to flow, Id say about now the momentum is real healthy like Arma1 for arma2 section now.
Even Arma1 has a new patch on the way and mods are still being updated and added.
I will be kaning Arma2 with mods and Arrowhead easy for the next 2 years, I can say that with confidence.
Almost sums up what I got to say other then, OFP, Arma, and Arma2CO are the only games I play, I have so many files on
my computer of that getting "another" game onto my hardrive is out of the question :D
I only have enough room for BIS games, but ya I do need to upgrade that, and my CPU.

I thougt it would be too bad not to share :p
Thank you BIS !

Nice Vid Macadam Cow, but theres already a thread for vids.
I love BIS.
Please go on as you do now.
Do not ever fall into the greedy, disgusting, stinky, piece of fucking trash shit pigeonhole where many million dollar gaming companies are at right now built on greed and developing cheap, successfull games with expensive dlcs and expansion packs instead of quality games.
So simply.. I love BIS.
This thread can be locked, right now.

Is it "Studio" or "Studios"?
Well, the site is called 'bistudio.com', bistudios.com leads to a page without real content but with the title 'The leading gay dating site on the net'. :D
To everyone at Bohemia a huge thank you for your continued support of Arma, Arm2 and armaOA. Your efforts go above and beyond the call of duty, the only way I can repay you is by having all three games on my hard-drive and enjoying them all.
The best of luck with all future ventures, look forward to buying them!

Just wanted to check in and continue the thanks to BIS. I still play quite often and am loving every minute I get to play this amazing simulation. This is just one of those games that you can play endlessly and it never gets old or shelved. Always something new and the content just keeps getting better and better.
More thanks to BIS!

Thank you for the great games and the even more AMAZING continued support for the games after release. It's rare to see a game supported so well after the first 9 months or so.
Comparing you to Ubisoft and their work with Silent Hunter 5...you guys are leaps and bounds ahead of them. You give the impression that you feel your work is never done, and that the game is not complete until its perfect, and as a customer I appreciate that.
I look forward to your future products, mainly the milsim type games like ARMA and ARMA2 and the expansions.
Please don't change this. Thank you for the amazing games and the amazing continues support through patches well into the games life.
Hello,
if u wanna count all the good and useful things, it is an endless sentence... :)
Only one sentence is needed: Thank you very much!

Guys,
I just wanted to take a moment of your time to say how much I enjoyed and appreciated the recent ARG that led up to the announcement of ArmA3.
Although I didn't have the time to take part as much as some, I really enjoyed following the deductive process of those that did. It was good to see the users collaborating in that way. I can honestly say I was, more than once, open mouthed at the investigative work the guys did.
Of course this was all down to the planning that you chaps did. The actual physical aspect of the game with the buried map and the data hidden in the pictures was good fun.
I can never see autostereograms so I'm trusting the community on that one. Calling zipper on the phone made me laugh and I got one of the ascii pictures by email. That was probably my sole contribution.
All in all, I think you assembled a wide and varied bunch of clues that drew on the skills of different sections of the community. It must have taken a long time to plan and execute. You can be proud of this. Well done.
I've been hooked since the first ArmA :D, which was epic. The Arma games are just a class above all others. They're difficult and time consumming, yet once you get into them they're epicly fun and addictive. There's a great community as well, and tonnes of interesting addons released everyday.
Anyways, keep up the great work BIS :yay:

I always look forward to Friday / Saturday evenings playing Arma with the group of people I always play with.
I am also playing Arma most evenings so to me that says it all!!!
No other game can match Arma, period.

I've actually never played arma with community people. I believe most people play arma 2 nowdays and my computer isn't good enough to run it. I'll have to fix it so I can play it with everyone else. Seems to be incredible fun.

Arma 2 and OA are the games I have been looking for since I started PC gaming many many years ago. I want to thank the team for such hard work and dedication in making the Arma series what it is today. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Arma. Sure I play other games on consoles and PC but in the back of my mind I am always comparing them to Arma!

The OFP/ArmA series turned me into a more mature player . I still enjoy run n gun type games , but for SP only , when I crave for SP and MP complex and fun gameplay , ArmA is where I go .
You have also proven integrity by supporting your games post release and actually listening to our requests and integrating them in your upcoming titles .
So thank you BIS !
I have been playing Arma 2 since December 2010. I saved up and bought a gaming PC just to play Arma 2. I downloaded all the expansion packs and content from Steam which has been effortless, thank you Steam. I have got to say I am completely blown away with the level of unit detail, the size of the maps, the sound effects, the feel of the weapons, the editor, the list goes on and on.
Although Arma 2 needed patching it has been worth the wait. I have pumped over 125 hours into the game and I am only now starting to familiarize myself with the sheer level of tactical options.
I find myself constantly looking at the scenery, the soldier detail, and the various different camera angles and so on. When I show my friends the game they applaud its scale but are far too intimated to play it, good.
I am writing this email because I am a hardcore gamer. Games like this just don't exist anymore. I am glad they are so intimidating that the typical FPS player would rather sit back then get blasted across the desert.
I applaud the vision, the art style, the audio, everything in this game has got better for me as each patch was released and as each tutorial video opened up more possibilities to playing the game, the way I want to play.
When I first got the game my pace was rushed, I wanted to attack and destroy as quickly as possible. Now I survey the surroundings, get prone and sneak up on the enemy. I think the level of customization is amazing, I have the ai set to hard but my map info left on etc...
When I first played the game I played it like Ghost Recon in third person. I love having the option to view my unit but the game is WAY better in my opinion in first person, the free look, the weapon detail etc... Mind blowing.
I don't care what computer I need for Arma 3, I will get an SSD drive no doubt and another graphics card but whatever it takes I will upgrade because so many games get switched on and off but few have ever kept me playing and learning as much as Arma 2.
I know BF3 is on its way and I am a BF 2 fanatic but it won’t be a true sandbox of war toys like Arma. Bis you rock ass in the gaming world that’s why your games are bought and not cracked, you make quality.
Another factor that bugs me is the reviews that Arma has got. Like Limbo is better than Arma 2? C'mon.
This is by far the one game if I was locked up forever that I would want in my cell.
There should be a health warning before you buy:
Arma 2 is better than meaningful loving relationships and can at times end them ... (joke :)

Hahahahahaha, nice one mate!
I enjoy games like Mass Effect2, MW1/2, BF series etc. But only RV games(OFP,ArmA1/2) have this *I press the exit button knowing 100% that I'll be baak(C)* )))

I'll be baak(C)* )))
This reminds me of several missions I did not want to leave, so I just minimized the game. :)
Many of them still worked after going to work for a day or 2, and then coming back.

Thank you, BIS, that you don't do shit like EA does with BF3 !
On the most frequented jounal on politics EA is since a few hours on the front page (http://www.spiegel.de/) with the main headline: "EA spying on users with BF3 (http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/netzpolitik/0,1518,794600,00.html)" and there is - for good reasons - an enourmos reaction in the forums!

i have just joined this forum after having followed it for some time as a guest, and I really want to thank you BIS for your amazing releases (I don't call them games because I think they are much more than that). I follow you since from OFP CWC days, keep on your excellent work!
I also take the chance to wish you all a merry xmas and happy new year!

I knew you about a couple of weeks after ArmA 1 was released, found it quite hard to grasp even as rookie... but strangely there was something about it that forced me to come back again and again, and everytime it seemed to be a different experience...
What I felt attracted by was some sort of freedom... I played a SF convoy ambush mission about a dozen times... always the very same mission, always a very different one...
Then I had to buy a new PC just for walking around Chernarus...
And today my main interest is about making game content, just for the fun of it...
As it has been already said in these forums, you provided us with a truly hobby instead of another FPS war themed PC game...
Your personal development and editing tools mean a lot for building a long term community, and thus there is no surprise that editing sections at these forums are among the most visited...
So, keep pushing harder...
Y muchas gracias! :D

Just discovered that AI can now take-off and land on the USS Keh Sanh ! :yay:
The AI seem to switch on and off VTOL / STOL depending on the length of the runways.
Bloody Amazing
