Exactly. I replaced as many as I could. You can ofcourse use any kind of ballistic/better optics/sound addon with this.

Thank You and yes, once I finish up the soundmod replacement and possibly the SBR one (If I get suggestions what to replace with SBR's, as I'm absolutely clueless on that) and there's going to be more weapon packs with high-detail vanilla ArmA2 equivalents (such as RH's AK pack), I'll keep posting them here* :)
* I'll change the thread name for that ofcourse, so people don't get confused.

I've left that out for 1.0 because RH didn't add woodland camo weapons (although he planned those), but I'll replace them with the classic black weapons in an optional config for the next release.

Slapped RH's weapons and your config into the same folder and it doesnt replace. Dont know why. No other weapon packs or replacements etc loaded. Did test with some USMC guys that carry the same weapons, but no luck in replacements.

Yea I have that problem also, and some of my men spawn injured now hehe. Its a great concept though and i'm sure you'll have the bugs ironed out pretty soon.

i think sbr models can be replaced with camo painted m4's.

Uh, that's sure weird, I didn't get any errors at all on my end when testing :butbut:
- Are you guys patched up to 1.04? Full release or a newer beta build?
- Are you using any other addons?
--- If you are, please disable try using only RH's M4/M16 pack and my replacement to see if the problem persists.
Edit: Holy shit, you're right O_o I bet it's the damned binarization of the config.

Oh yeah sorry about that. Is playing the beta v59210 (best performance for me so far).

Cheers cole look forward to the up date i thought the same thing took all my addons off even reinstalled the game same problem was coming up and it on 1.04 understandable though these config files can be difficult

News: Thanks to zGuba (http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?u=16875) (I love you man! in a totally heterosexual way :p) the config is now fixed.
I've also done another one to replace the camo M4's as requested and I'm going to do one more which also includes M4A1 SBR instead of M4A1 CCO Camo. Hopefully I can pack it all up and release in a few minutes :)

EDIT: To me only the SAW seems to be replaced. If i place the standard infantry group made by BIS it should replace most of them right? Only the automatic rifle guy gets a new one. Maybe i got some addon that is conflicting. I got no weapons addons however. Only RH and the rest is vehicles, units, landtex, drawdistance, lowvisuals, soundmod. Cant see what would mess with it. Using no replacements either apart from yours.
Will test remove my addons 1 by 1. Gonna take some time lol.
Found the "problem". First off to my naked eye in 1st person the weapons replaced look very similar so i didnt notice there. The second more obvious thing to not understand it was replaced is that the sound is not from the RH pack... When i put it in a box and take it out it gets the RH sounds.
So - your right Cole. It does work. Only the sound doesnt come along. But there was some sound config also i saw now. Or did see anyway before.

must the Server have the RH M4/M16 Pack installed when i want to use only the replacement?
the damage and other paramaters are the same as the standard weapons? only the optical looking is replacet right?

Have you tried checking with different soldiers too? The M16A4 looks kinda similiar to the vanilla one. If you still don't see the replacement:
- What version are you using? 1.04 Full or a newer beta candidate?
- Have you tried running just RH's weapon pack and this config?
- Are you sure you installed both mods correctly? (http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=faq&q=18)

Afaik, the server only needs Cole.bikey and RHI.bikey files to allow both my replacement and RH's weapon pack.
And yes, when using this replacement, the only thing replaced is the model and display picture in the gear menu (and weapon name if you're using one of the SBR replacements). Ballistic values, recoils and sounds stay the same as in vanilla ArmA2, so if you want, you can change those with any available ballistic/recoil/sound mod.

Ya the replacement pack is not working for me also. Iv put the files in an mod folder where the RH gun files are and even just tryed to put them in my addon folder but nothing. Dont konw why there not working. Iv got the 1.04 patch full all is good for this to work but it just dont.

I get no errors at the start or in game no errors at all. Iv got the RH gun pack in game it works just fine no errors there either. Would like to get this working, like the guns they are vary nice and sounds for them are too. Just dont know why its not working.

1in1class: If you go to a RH box or any box and check the icon of your weapon that is replaced - it shows the proper RH weapon icon. And if you switch in the RH box to the same weapon your holding - it will be the same, just that now you have RH sound also.
The sound doesnt replace together with the weapon.

No its the replacement pack that does not work. RH weapons work just fine in the game with the box and all its, just that this replacement pack that dont work.
But... Thats what i said. Move to a box when you have the replacement on. Check in the box - look at the weapon icon that is in your inventory - same as RH's.

K i kind of get what your saying but an replacement pack is to replace the guns so you dont have to equiped each gun to an unit by going to an ammo box. RH gun pack works just fine for me i go to the ammo box and get one of the RH guns its, just that the Replacement pack that does not work it does not replace the guns of vanilla.

Are you running any other mods apart from RH's weapon pack and my replacements?
Maybe try redownloading (if you haven't already) the replacements from the first page and installing them again..

Nope, nobody else PMed me.
I'm using VopSound too, but not any other mods that you mentioned. Try creating a special folder called something like "@<hidden>", put an AddOns folder in it and drop rh_m4, rh_m4_cfg and my replacements to the folder and try loading just that one to see if it works.

:confused: This is fucking weird. The config should work, pretty much everything in the config looks alright and it works for me whatever I do with it :|

Could you on the next version replace the M4 with the M4 RIS so it fits better with the other M4s.
Kinda odd when fighting and some people have the RIS full of stuff and others have no RIS at all.

finally got around to using these addons and went ahead and used the replacement config as well. I can't see myself going back to the vanilla rifles.

Well I could do it for the 1.2 release, but I doubt it's going to change anything, the modfolders are pretty easy to set up:
Create a folder called @<hidden> (you can call it whatever you want) in your ArmA2 folder (C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2), open it and create a folder called AddOns in it.
Copy RH's weapon pack (rh_m4.pbo and rh_m4_cfg.pbo with the .bisign files) inside the AddOns folder.
Copy my replacements (You can choose which do you want to use, but I'll use just Cole_MFamily_Replace_M for this tutorial), Cole_MFamily_Replace_M.pbo with the .bisign, inside the same AddOns folder as you did with RH's weapons.
Open your ArmA2 shortcut (right click - properties), navigate to "Target:" box, you'll see this:
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe"
add this:
-mod=@<hidden>
the result will look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@<hidden> (note that there is a space before the -mod parameter)
Click Apply and then OK in the properties window.
Start ArmA2 using that shortcut.
This just HAS to work... :eh:
If it doesn't, you can try dropping both RH's weapon files and my replacement to the main AddOns folder, just don't forget to delete them if they don't work!
Actually, even if it does work, you should delete them from the AddOns folder, because putting anything directly in the AddOns folder is definitely not recommended.

Now just to get the sound replacements done. I'm not sure how compatible they will be with other soundmods though..

And you dont have to... Thats what im saying. You HAVE the RH weapons, but not the sounds from RH weapons. I just told you that if you move to a box youll see that your weapon icon is in fact a RH weapon just that the sound is not replaced (or just press "G" to see inventory - check the weapon icon - its RH's). I didnt tell you to pick a weapon up - just look at your weapon in your inventory and it will be a RH weapon wich is replaced by Cole's addon.
Now if you want the RH sounds - then you have to pick it up.
This is how it works for me anyway.

Now the weapons pack has been updated today will the replacement still be ok? Anyone tried .. I cant download at the moment.
If Robert didn't modify names and paths of the existing models, it should work just like before.
I'll have a look at the updated weapon pack later on today, change camo weapons config to actually include the woodland weapons where possible and do the freaking sound replacements already.

K i now know what your saying but, weapons are all vanilla. Like you said i can look at my gear to find out if the RH weapons replacement is working but its not. My Aog M16 is vanilla as is all my weapons.

Maybe you should explain in total step by step "exactly" how your are setting things up? Copy and paste shorcut links etc .. becuase I have no issues at all. You MUST be doing something to cause it not to pull into arma. Patch version, mod list (copy and paste what you have) install folder chain, where are mods placed, full folder paths/spelling etc.
I only say this because you are literally saying "yep, done that" but not actually detailing WHAT you did in steps from your end of things just responding to suggestions and not detailing in full exactly how you have things set up right now.
For me I have the following (mines installed on a "G" drive):
G:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\@<hidden>\Addons
In this addons folder I have :
Cole_MFamily_Replace_M.pbo
Cole_MFamily_Replace_M.pbo.Cole.bisign
rh_m4.pbo
rh_m4.pbo.RHI.bisign
rh_m4_cfg.pbo
rh_m4_cfg.pbo.RHI.bisign
RHI.bikey
In my shortcut as well as other things I have:
"G:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -nosplash -mod=@<hidden>;@<hidden>
I put them last in the chain and all work fine, from day one patch 1.04 and also latest beta release.

It brakes savegames (always adds dependency to the addon no matter what)
and it can cause problems on a DS. Please remove it.

I did put a smiley, it wasn't a negative post.
i was simply pointing out that if you really have done everything you have said .. it will work, nothing else would stop it unless, mod clash, spelling issue, patch version issue (maybe) etc etc .. I was simply saying maybe you could post EXACTLY what you did, rather than saying you did it and it doesn't work, so people could help, that's all. I don't see a thread full of issues, which would be the case if it was the mod or game, so whats left is the user whether that sounds negative or not its not meant to be.
Did the new update help? And have you grabbed the latest weapon pack update too and tested? hope it works for you.

Well iv gave it an try with the new Replacement Pack still is not working. Is the Aog on the gun sopost to be vanilla? In RH its different with the Aog with the M16s M4s. Thank ya for the mod folder cole just thought it would work.

To be honest (and I'm going to sound like an idiot here): I don't really know what does that entry do, but alot mods used it before so I thought it's somewhat important..

Er, I tried to run one of the stock SP missions with this and now it won't run anymore because it depends on the Cole_MFamily_Replace_M addon....

wow, sorry for replying so late.
if youre not using the replacement anymore, try reverting the mission, then the error should be gone. It's going to be fixed in the new version.

Hi I was just wondering how I could change the "M249" to the "M249 Para Elcan"? Ive tried changing the p3d and paa, "RH_M249pelcan.p3d" and "M249pelcan.paa" and I get error message "Size 'requiredAddons/' not an array" I dunno what to do I'm pretty noob so sorry for that. I just don't like the iron sight on the M249 and would prefer the Elcan sight.
Edit: Never mind I figured it out.

Well I almost did, lol. Lot's of shit to do in the last months, not enough free time that could be wasted on configs (tbh, I had more enjoyable things to waste it on). So here I come with a hotfixed replacement version incase anyone is still using this. I removed the CfgAddons entry as kju suggested, so it won't break savegames now. yay. ><'
Oh and about the sound replacements.. I might actually still do them, but I'm not sure about this compatibility stuff. I mean there's a ton of soundmods right now and more are coming, so a few M4 sound replacements won't really be the perfect thing I guess. It just wouldn't work most of the time. The only case where it would 100% work would be if you used no other soundmod, and I feel really sorry for you if you don't use a soundmod. There might be more config-ish stuff from me on the way, there might not. Deadfast is pretty fast and good at doing RobertHammer's weapon replacements, so that's one sector covered, and you guys don't have to wait for me to lift my fat ass up and actually do something.

hello Cole i am using you cfg whit the @<hidden> weaponpack ,@<hidden> ,@<hidden> ,@<hidden> and it seems that the SBR hand grip anim isnt right,or is it a ace cfg thing ? THX Dave
it MIGHT be ACE, they changed a huge ammount of things including weapon classnames and mine configs still use BIS classnames, so it's not officially compatible. I might actually add ace versions for 1.3, but who knows when that's coming.

1. 99% community made modifications are not dependant on the addon folders. You can for example create your own folder called @<hidden>, create a folder called addons inside it, and then put all mods that visually change the game inside.
2. Either good memory or create before/after screenshots :p

I'm not sure Robert already has thermal imaging textures on his models, but if he does, I think the current replacement version should display them?
However, if it doesn't (I don't play arma as much as I used to, and I didn't really check how much are the replacements compabile with OA myself) I guess I could make them work, but I don't know when is that going to happen.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself to well. RH pack now contains M4's and M16's with working IR Lasers and Zeroing, I was wondering if you were considering adding support for these in your replacement pack as the stock ARMA2 ones don't currently. It would be a config change.

b. You mean RH_cfg files? Keep those, you might get errors without them.

The original replacement was written for A2, so yes, it should be compatible.

The M16A2 takistani's use might be using a special class name made for OA only, like M16A2_EP1, so that's probably why.

it's just inheriting the classes from it. the m16a4 shares the same classes as the m16a2 i suppose cause they're not too different. m16a2 might inherit from m16_base , and so on ..

Try eliteness, it has the ability to unrap .bin configs to .cpp.

yeah, is there a way you could update this? I wanted to use it to add OA compatible weapons to the USMC faction and get rid of the army scars using the laertes replacement config for that, but when I did I noticed most, but not all of the weapons did not get replaced and were still the original models. this doesn't work with roberthammers latest pack.

Hi guys, I'm about to claw my own eyes out trying to get this addon to work. The RH weapons pack works; I can give soldiers the new guns and use the new ammo crates. But when I try to load this addon, nothing appears to have been replaced. USMC riflemen and auto-riflemen still carry vanilla weapons. I've verified this by executing "hint str (primaryWeapon player)". There's no error message.
I've tried sticking the Cole_MFamily_Replace_M.pbo in with the same folder as the RH M4 weapons pack itself. I've tried using a shortcut rather than an ArmA2 launcher. Other addons work, including other replacement addons such as Bush BadSanta replacement pack. I've even tried placing all of the PBOs in the main ArmA2/AddOns folder. The same results are observed every time.
If someone could at least check the below-linked zipped modfolder to see if it works for them, then even if I do claw my own eyes out, I will be certain that that person receives one eye as a reward. :crazy: SO HALP PLZ.

Thanks. Yeah, since writing the above, I noticed--from reading the correct thread (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=89231&page=11)--that it seems as though Cole's replacement pack no longer works for OA. At least I know I'm not going insane and the universe still operates according to rational principles, and that's a very good feeling to have. :yay:
