For one of my crappy missions I needed some armed civilians and the result is this tiny addon.

I've taken all the male civilians (except the Priest and Pilot) and gave them different weapons to fight. They are armed with: AKM, AKMS, AK-74, AK-74/GP-25, PKM, RPK, RPG, Strela, SVD, Saiga, M16A2 and MP5A5. Each unit has 4 magazines (the Policemen carry also an M9 with 4 Magazines). In total that adds 360 different units to your editor. :)

You can find the units in Independent -> Civilians -> Armed Civilians.

I think the priest with one of the ArmA shotguns would be rather amusing.

Will these be loaded via the Ambient Civilian module?

You can download the server key here (http://armaholic.eu/wolle/W0lle.bikey).

ckolonko
Yes maybe, however I decided to leave the priest out for a reason. Priests have a stronger weapon than boomsticks. ;)

smacker1
No, you need to place them manually as any other faction. Might be possible to do that though but I haven't done any research on how to modify/create the modules.

The power of the loooorrrrddddaaaah and savioooourrrah?

Holy water. Obviously you dont hunt alot of vampires.

Anyways, are they grouped? Makes it alot more useful in combination with ACM.

I think this addon should add some female civilians too.
I really think this game is lack of heroines.
It's a shame that female civilians are not allow to use weapons.
Did anyone have the idea to make some 007 missions?

It's a shame that female civilians are not allow to use weapons.
There aren't animations for that kind of action within the game and you can't simply use the male animations. :( I was very disappointed when I couldn't make a fun mission having heavy armed grannys.

Nice work.

Killer Granny's would be great. not sure if I could pull the trigger though unless it got down to her or me. ;)

Shouldn't the policeman carry a Makarov? He does live in an Eastern Bloc country

For some reason when I use this addon, whenver I fire a shot, the screen fills with blue text telling me who fired it, and what bullets they used =/.

Good point, will fix that. :)

Definitely not caused by this addon as it simply adds weapons and ammo to the stock A2 civilians. There's not a single script used or something.

Wolle..your missions are far from crappy :)
Cheers mate.

The trailer did make it look like dogs would be aggressive, and I've been hunted by German Shepherds in a mission (I shot one in a panic), so "arming" the dogs is a great idea.

Unfortunately you can't :(. Go into the editor and play as a woman and check out your gear. It's weird.

If it would be possible they would have been included in the initial release already. Unfortunately the female models cannot carry weapons, there is no way to fix that without either creating new models or fixing the existing ones (which is not possible yet).

v1.01 of my tiny addon is available now. Changelog is pretty small though:

Police now carrying Makarovs
"Vilas" Edition added

The "Vilas" Edition requires the Russian and East Europe weapons pack (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9218) from vilas. In this version most weapons have been replaced with Vilas' boomsticks. This version also contains 29 additional units carrying the SKS rifle.

So in the archive there are two pbo files, w0l_armedcivs.pbo and w0l_armedcivs_vil.pbo. The first is the original version which requires no addons, the second is the one which requires Vilas' weapons.

For one of my own crappy mission I need some African armed civilians on Isla Duala ... do you intend to release one set ?

Nevertheless, Armed Civilians v1.02 is also hosted on Armed Assault.info.

Thanks for the mirrors Fox and Old Bear.

African civilians I'm looking for too. :D

It would be no big deal to give the existing civilians dark skin but then they still don't really fit. So to make it proper, complete new models must be made which unfortunately exceeds my knowledge.
Maybe some kind person could make a couple of civilian models and I do the config work then ;)

Love it! Just one questions re the .pbo's - do we use bothe vanilla and ace/vilas, or is it only a single file to go in the mod folder?

No need to create new models, what about the ArmA1 civilians? They look pretty african, with t-shirts and stuff.

One will need to change the paths in the model, create SUPER rvmats and redefine the rvmat paths, convert the textures, add in ArmA2 heads/hands, copy ArmA2 geo/fire/memory lod, redefine shadow lod head (some nasty glitches occur otherwise) and add a proper config...

edit:
I think it would work without redefining the paths, too. This would save alot of work.

Nothing spectacular, just boring... and I might be bored :p

W0lle, given any thought to arming the priest? :)

When Liberation 1941-45 mod comes out, I'm sure I'll not be the only one wanting to use the priest as a manque for Father Mihail (re: SthrafBat TV series (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425715/). If you don't wanna, it's OK, your addon :). But please think about it, willya?

Mar 1 2010, 19:43
I said a while back that I personally don't think it's needed. However since it's no problem to arm them in the game anyway... I can add them in another version as it's not much work at all.

And before anyone gets any ideas: Nope I still can not add armed women. :)

Well you can arm normal civilians with a script so this isn't so useful but I'll download anyway.

@<hidden>:
You are wrong. This addon is very useful. If you try to add units of different sides into groups of other sides it will cause problems, basicly because of some strange inheriting from the base classes. Furthermore it'll make things easier to place armed civilians if they've already got a pre-configurated weapon loadout. It's a pain to equip hundreds of civilians manually, you know. Besides this way the mission.sqm is a little bit smaller in file size due to the lack of extra unnecessary code. Every addon out there has its origins and there's always a reason why someone creates an addon. Think about it, W0lle did make a good job ... except for the lacking of a localization for the 360 armed civilians :p I had to do it myself *crazy*

African civilians will be added to my Duala v1.4 coming soon.
