The weather will be like as on any other arma2 island lol what ever the mission editor sets it as, and if you really want to test what it looks like just download it.
awesome work, just downloaded this and flew around the island to check it out, nice job.

banenwn just extract the "Japahto.pbo" to your ARMA2/addons folder and it should work.
SnakeMan rgr that, I'll add the readme :) Good point.

i found a little issue though:

AnimalMother92 yeah, those models are pretty umm interesting.. Same with the boat houses, some times when you get out from the boat (inside the boathouse) you'll end up to the roof...
No surprise that we can't see these models very often in chernarus ^^ damn you bis
Island looks fantastic.
I wont get chance to try it out for a few weeks, but I hope it makes use of more "real" cover than just the procedurally generated grass/bushes? It looks like it does, which should make it fantastic for some good sustained firefights.
Congratulations Raunhofer,
your island looks really very nice.
I hope someone can make a nice warfare or cti for your island.:)

Raunhofer, this is a very beautiful Island. Good Work. ;)
Just about to test it. Looks awesome from the pics.
Thanks Raunhofer for your hard work! :)
EDIT:
After testing it a bit im very amazed! Great looking island and very cool as it seems to need more use of boats. :)
I have however one complaint. Same as with Namalsk Island. The "grass-bushy things" can be seen really far and they are very dense even on LOW terrain detail settings. This destroys the FPS for us that doesnt have uber PC's. Just like Namalsk when i turn terrain detail OFF i have no lag at all. I can run Chernarus with even normal terrain detail and have no lag as a comparison.
Now im in no place to tell anyone how to make their addons ofcourse. But im just wondering if its possible to scale the terrain detail setting a bit more? To make that grass-bushes be less clutterred when set to low. It seems it doesnt change much from very high down to low. If missions force grass its going to be very heavy and not so joyful for my type of PC. If its not doable to change clutter now when the island is finished then thats ok ofcourse. But maybe others can think about this when making islands in the future. You can still have all that awesome lush vegetation for people with heavier systems - just make the clutter as you want on the higher terrain setting, but try and make less on low. If possible.
Thanks though - great island never the less. :)

Maddii released screenshot on our forums (http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&p=66926#66926) showing the BM-13 Katyusha.
Quote Maddii:
As everyday at home i always get bored when i open my computer i start making O2 models out of scratch.
Yesterday i remembered that my first request for ArmA 2 was NAPA Rocket battery mounted on a truck
so i thought why not make one myself.
ArmA II story says that NAPA use outdated equipments some of them were from ww2
i quickly go the idea of the BM-13 Katyusha mounted on a ww2 truck
Wow i did it in only one day!!
This was easy to model but the bad thing is that i cant do other stuff like Animating and adding colors
tools arent working at all due to computer error
im asking if anyone could help out finnishing it
PLZ help.............

Nice island ,
Another one for warzoneusa servers to run with .
One question . can you make your missions so they stay running when the server is empty , they go to end of mission etc.
Looking forward to more missions on this great island . I am also hosting a mirror for the map files and any missions on our website. These new island gave us a idea on how to cut down on smacktards with out going private server .
Excellent island! Finally got the OFP feeling back again. Thanks!

Great job, thanks for sharing!
Thanks you for your hard work, it looks great. Thanks again! :)
Nice one, feels very Scandinavian :)
Only thing I noticed was that there IMO could be some more stuff (pebbles/small rocks/fallen trees/bushes/etc) on the shore lines, they felt empty.
Anyway great work and thanks for sharing!

Actually this was me just a way to test new tools, but I'm glad you liked it so much! Thanks for your replies.
Well, you got all the little things like clutter levels spot on, really makes a difference. The major downside with Chernarus is that you trip over a village or mountain every few meters, it's really hard to fix an area of operations when designing a mission. Japahto however has very few buildings, and loads of natural choke points. Excellent for inspiring mission makers!
It also has loads of flexibility, one back story could be that it's an island off the coast of Chernarus used for logging, the unfinished project could have been intended as accommodation for loggers than was never finished. The only thing i'd recommend would be lower some of the fords slightly, and make the coast line more "beachy".
Thanks Raunhofer, great work :smile_o:

Have to say the size it just right, FPS is real nice especially with the use of foliage (really like the grass elements) .. this is a keeper for sure.
Always wanted something denser without the FPS hit and this island is perfect.
Great work mate :) A brilliant island, one of my favourites of all time.
It's funny, I took a screenshot of a really awesome part of the island. You know the first screenshot, with the chopper? Same place and angle, almost exactly.
Raunhofer, did you spend much time on that area? Really detailed, shows off ArmA2 quite well :D

nice job :) fdf mod in mind
Wow, we love this map :D. We adapted the VTS on it and just play on this island since it's out.
No bug found, high fps, nice looking and interesting forests, mini islands, this map is simple but awesome. If you like forests, download it :)

A really nice island, simple but smartly designed. Thank you
The island is great. However i feel the top island wich is isolated from the rest could have less trees in the middle of it. Thinking of that it could been a nice place for a base. With tons of trees and cut off from the rest it doesnt have much use IMO.
Its just constructive critisism though. :) I love the island. Its great.

Not sure if other can test this but Its not a heli's best friend :) I mainly use trucks/jeeps to get around ... I guess that's obvious.
Like the separate islands, currently have 3 trucks and boats to get my teams around with a SECOP menu to select what I want as and when. I did notice that when SECOP spawnes a camp it seems to keep spawning it right on the beach edges and not within the islands ... can someone try the SECOP module quick and set it for attack location (spawn a camp) and keep re running it and see if the spawn does work "within and around" the island, as apposed to always "right on farthest edges" ?
can someone try the SECOP module quick and set it for attack location (spawn a camp) and keep re running it and see if the spawn does work "within and around" the island, as apposed to always "right on farthest edges" ?
Will test this right away.
Lots of trees though and not much free space so i guess the SOM will have problem spawning bases.
EDIT:
2 times i had the high value target mission and they were both spawned on the island edges - beaches. There is room for it in many places so i dont know why that happens.
Been running platoon sized action on this island for a few days now together with P'85... Absolutley amazing - Had various spots on the island covered by one squad each as a company of OPFOR made it's onslaught, with poor me as platoon commander making runs imbetween BLUEFOR strongpoints. This with everything maxed out and view distance at 4000, it's going to be hard going back to Chernarus I tell you.
I tested it,there is a issue with buildings:I made a fly with chopper and there is a huge fps drop when approaching them,anybody else?
Your config is causing Sahrani to lose the grass completely on the North. Please tag your config classnames. I suspect the problem is in CfgSurfaces:
Japahto:
class Grass : Default {
access = ReadOnly;
files = "trava1_*";
rough = 0.11;
dust = 0.1;
soundEnviron = "grass";
character = "JIGrassClutter";
soundHit = "soft_ground";
};
Sahrani:
class Grass : Default {
access = ReadOnly;
files = "trava_*";
rough = 0.1;
dust = 0.1;
soundEnviron = "grass";
character = "GrassClutter";
};

Well done Raunhofer! Beautiful world. :)
Can you please sort the HQ texture issues and push out an update.
The problem is you filter at least twice (via files = "XXX*) for the same name as standard
CAA1 (a1) texture names. Please tag your HQ textures and adapt the files definitions.
Here is also an improved and way simplified config.
Even the 'class clutter' definition would be possible to drop, as you have only tweaked
two classes a bit:

i have a problem :(
when i load up the island in the editor and try to Preview (by placing a Unit and then pressing "Preview") it crashes :( does it require CAA? or anything for that matter?

Version 1.01 released!
Download Japahto Islands 1.01 (http://koti.mbnet.fi/a3tech/Japahto%20Islands%20v1.1.exe)
As this was my test island, I wasn't going to update it, but I changed my mind. Version 1.01.
> Fixed map coordinates
> Fixed clutter levels
> Fixed roads
> Fixed tree locations
> Fixed classnames
> Fixed compatibility issues
> Added a new vegetation style
> Added better performance
> Added fast update possibility
V.1.01 works with the old 1.0 version too, so don't be afraid to update.

Well it's just like a .zip or .rar file, there's just a interface. The installer extracts the files (japahto.pbo, japahto2.pbo + keyfiles & bisign files) and does nothing else.
