textview2 error

I get "Newer verison of TextView2.exe is required by C:\Program files\Bohemian Interacti...blah...blah..blah...Pal2PacE\TexConvert.cfg" every time I try to look at a .paa file

Any ideas?

Already reinstalled new tools a few times.

Probably you still have the old settings in the registry.
Did you uninstall tools before installing the new ones?

yes and I went through the reg with a fine tooth comb

This error arises whem TexView2.exe for A2 is trying to use the TexConvert.cfg file for A1 (or VBS2).
Check your [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BIStudio\TextureConvert] it should have 2 entries that look similar to the following...



"MAIN"="D:\\A2Tools\\TexView2"
"configPath"="D:\\A2Tools\\TexView2\\TexConvert.cfg"


Obviously the pathing's will be different for your box.
If you are confident that portion of the equation is satisfied, then track through your file association for .paa and .pac. As your probably aware you wanna be careful around the registry.

So, you say you did and uninstall (and a reboot? you did a reboot right?) and then an install and you went through the reg with a fine tooth comb...

What does this registry key look like on your machine and the info contained therein?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.paa]

You can right-click on the '.paa ' in RegEdit and export it to a file like 'paa.reg' for instance then open in a text editor and paste it over here.

But, in saying that... by the questions your posting in other threads... like 'binmake' problems... i'd say your tools installation is pretty screwed... probably be very difficult to try and tidy things up through us posting hints & tips though a forum medium.
