Note: if you experience any problems with missions, unpack/depbo them, load them into ingame editor and save as a new .pbo (multiplayer map). That should fix any height problems.

Install:
Unpack with free 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) and check out readme.txt. Install is easy, unpack @<hidden> to your Arma2 Root folder and run game with -mod=@<hidden> parameter. Be sure to unpack all files, not just .pbos! Serverkey folder is only for dedicated server admins.

Please post mirrors and feedback on the map!
Have fun! If you have a mission for it, let us know too!

Just got it, awesome map. Not sure if it's an issue of me having to place a logic for it down... but landing autopilot tries to land in the water lol. Other than that great job! Lookin forward to seeing what kind of mission I can make with this.

Great stuff, IceBreakr, had a quick test last night and it was really good,
It runs well and looks great . and its nice to see some palmtree's in Arma2,
that jungle part is a real beauty, cant wait to see your next projects,

I've spent couple of weeks to sort it out for A2, its the first time BIS didn't include the objects from a predecessor :/
Anyway, I will need help with that configs for all 4 airports. I doubt I can do this fixes today, I'm packing for a roadtrip.

holy chit.. running this map with all graphic settings on very high & 10k view..ive only got a ATI 3850 AGP :eek:....someone needs to take some notes from this dude.

Not true. Some OFP objects were not included in ArmA.

Tonci87: we did a 2,5 hour MP coop on it (I'll start to release missions in a week or so) and so far AI performs well on roads. Sometimes convoys get stuck on bridges (one vehicle crosses normally, while second stops) but that is BIS's problem with A2. In A1 they work without a hitch. If I'll have time I'll replace roads in upcoming v2.1 with latest ones from BIS.

p.s. AI overturned one vehicle (vodnik) and so did a human player on our side (LAV), so I guess AI is good =) but be carefully with choppers: AI is so excited to see Panthera they put daring maneouvers and often end in hillsides after they can't pull up ;)

Fantastic work :) One question tough, will it replace any objects in chernarus? I put all my addons in ONE modfolder, and usually play with it, and i would not want anything to change in chernarus?

My favorite feature of this island is the fact that 99.99% of all the buildings are accessible! This will be a MUST for anything related with CQB / MOUT! And I must say, my OMON units look damn nice on it.

For some reason, alot of scripts don't work on your island, such as dostop nameofunit and nameofunit land "land", which are central in alot of my missions.

Haven't had to chance to try it in MP. Very much looking forward to it though!

IceBreakr people told me AI is capable of using roads fairly well on it.
Did you use use a2 roads and binarize it or anything else? Cheers!

Yeah this island isscreaming ta a good Coop/AAS team taunting at em saying you'll never survive Panthera just do it make a map on me, I dare you. Just stirring up my limated mission editing. The area I visited on it yesterdat SE of the airfield looking n n/w in the valley below with town just smells ripe for a fight.
Not to take away but think aslot of players here dream of of flying behind enemy lines in a (if I dare say) fast attack boat (Zodiac should do fine) guess I just watchted too many Navy Seal training(mil.com) exrcises goin inland to remote isand etc inserting completeing there mission an gettin the F outta dodge. Or maybne i just aint explored the whole map yet. Sorry lil off top had a brain warp to a fictional mission sombody once makes 8)
8) I found my river inlet took a lil helo ride via wp's to every interesting spot jmo this could be best map of 09 hands down! Gonna put out Zodiac an go for a lil boat ride now 8) Inlet @<hidden> grid 03-08 an 05-08

This island is far too nice to make war over! :p

Two Bugs I found:
-The Pebble texture look really wierd ingame, I don't know if this is just the settings I'm using, but it's looks like something Dali would be responsible for.
-There's grass on the runways

Also, not really bugs, but worth fixing anyway, the grassy riverbanks (I love the rivers btw, not used enough in the engine IMO) look really off, you should consider changing them to be rock or dirt in the steep sections and pebbles in some of the softer ones. Also, the Autumn-ey chernarus trees look kinda disconcerting, they'd look a lot better if replaced with green ones.

Still, an extremely nice island! I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

As u see zodiacs can go all the way north the gun boat versions won't fit under low lying bridges 8( Also a bug not sure if it's BIS or this but Zodiac at high speed lifts completly out of water except for the prop touching the surface of the water

One question i copied the pbo files to the addon folder of the server but the island won't show up anyone could help me a bit?
It is a rental server.

I just changed up your demo mission a little and made it a river patrol mission with your new units and gotta say -really nice! There was something soothing about the color of you units and riding up the river, really has that distinct flavor that makes you feel like your actually there. Also, the ability to jack everything to very-high and have great fps don't hurt either.

Yes, I just noticed it at high speeds. Thought it was just hydroplaning till I saw the engine out of the water :D

The pebble/rock texture thing is known and hopefully will be fixed... I'd like to add my vote/concern about the dreaded arma2 brown trees too... they clash a little with the overall "feel" of the island...

The AI (with sakura chan's driving fix) seem to keep to the road pretty well and don't stress out about bridges, which is pretty impressive! - and some of the sudden dips and slants in the road make for a fairly wild and fun ride!...
Try riding as gunner in an AI-driven humvee and just give them a waypoint a few miles away! the white-knuckle way to see the sights!!!

Amazing island, the only thing I dont like is that in some areas there is too much trees, or better said, big density of trees which cause FPS drop.
Maybe you could remove some trees in the next version for better FPS...but thats only my opinion, best island so far anyway. :)

Other than the slight FPS drop when driving through areas with a massive chunk of trees, I'm enjoying this map a lot. It's just extremely beautiful--I like driving around and checking out the scenery hehe. Fantastic work hands down. :D

Great Island. Its funny, it sort of looks bigger than it really is .... but then again you can't drive across in in 5 minutes thats for sure!

On the buildings, any chance we Terrain Builders can get a list of your "enterable buildings" ?

Have had a good go on this island now and i have to say its great! very nice when your down on the ground and seeing those mountains with pine trees on. Very immersive. Also flying really high when the textures becomes 1:1 sharp and it looks real. And the rivers! Whoa it adds so much to missions.

The only thing in my opinion is that the textures could be bigger(?). I mean sharper when a bit lower. Flying a helo not high enough makes the ground look pretty blurry/blobby. Im wondering, is it possible to have 2 textures on maps in ARMA2 so that when your lower you see one, and when going higher it blends into the other one?

Anyway i dont mean to crap on your awesome island. Its superb! Just if there was one thing that could be a bit better i would say making the textures bigger. But it might not be possible as i know absolutely nothing about making islands. Its far beyond my skills.

It looks like building shadows..or I dont know, but its very annoying, hope it will be fixed in the next version, if the problem is not on my side.

Happens on just about every user Island so far. Try turning your shadows to High/Very High.

I've seen that effect a few times too - it isn't at your end... seen it on Sahrani/Rhamadi with CAA1 too...
Sort of like a "displaced" or "inverted" building shadow.... Only on certain buildings.....

I THINK it's something to do with certain Arma 1 buildings in Arma 2, since it happens in CAA1 as well...

Yep ive seen it once. From the river it looked like either my boat produced them or some house maybe.

Been testing this map out some more and its fucking brilliant (excuse language). :) So many places that look very different gives a lot of variation. Coupled with EMERYS buggys and some Zodiacs laying around the river sides here and there its just fun to get around on it.

Great work.

Truely great island Icebreakr, i'm really enjoying it. As i did in ArmA 1 :)

I have a little issue though : when lauching it with CAA1 and CBA i have this message :


Addon 'caa1_c_enablePorto' requires addon 'caa1_p_roads'

Does anyone have this warning message too ? If it's a known problem then i apologize, but i haven't found reports/info about this yet.

Well this means Icebreakr made also an pbo with prefix ca\roads.
So it conflicts with the CAA1 one.

PBO-filenames do no matter at all, when prefix is used.

I just pointed out that there are missing tags on some pbo's in the island pack, so one could guess there are probably tags (prefixes) missing inside to.

As you know they should be used on both places. Right now his roads.pbo could overwrite another creators "roads.pbo". I know that you use tag caa1_, as it supposed to be, so that is not the problem now. But the problem is, as you say, the same prefix. And one should use a registered tag as prefix per community standard.

Well we both use the ca\prefix for good reasons.

Hopefully Icebreakr will repath them with moveObject as caa1 is supposed to make
worlds not needed to be edited.

probably the best custom made WRP I've ever played across the Arma Series. A few dodgy textures here and there that you probably already know about.

Cant' wait for a well design PVP CTI/Warfare. The rivers/terrain/bridges and enterable buildings will really give it a new dimension. Plus the map is particularly awesome for CAS.

Noticed when u shoot into small dams the impact effect is different from river or sea. U can hardly see anything but cloud vapor. U probably know about it already anyway but i'm really enjoying the map

very neat island, thanks! could see this being a great platform for infantry / air transport/amphib intensive warfare missions with remote firebases in the highlands. armour may rule the valleys, but the mountains belong to the rifleman! i have noticed that ai heavy armour has issues getting around and may not be a good idea here. anyone happen to be working on a warfare for this?

The central mountains can be a great practice for Takistan... if only we have TrueRange AI from ARMA1, it would be awesome. Even so, as it is... its really great playing with SOM, really adds value to ARMA series. Good job everyone.

man this island has become my default. it is so good.

2 comments. the grass seems overly green - is that an custom texture?
my AI have a hard time crossing the river and bridges. Anyone else have that problem?

tried crossing bridges with ai drivers and it wasnt a problem. plus they have pretty good road pathfinding. havent tried it with soldiers on foot yet, but if its anything like arma1, they have to AT LEAST be in a column formation or it'll be a disaster.

Well, I'm back from Tuscany (with couple of new map ideas heh) :)

Nixo91: No, it should not interfere with any other mods, except CAA1 when using roads.pbo (you can use CAA1 instead, its the same!), I'll make use of A2 roads in upcoming v2.1 so old roads.pbo won't be needed anymore.
Kju: I use A1 roads (included), but will replace them with A2
Orton: keys are planned for v2.1
Skooma: hey no prob, just cut back on the skooma a bit, m'kay? ;)

- landing points ILS (need help with that, how to read coordinates and make config for all 4 big airports!)

- sat texture fix to make it less "smeared" in couple of places
- removed palm tree from desert road
- fixed missing paa error window (hand_okna_ca.paa)

v2.2 is coming out any day now, I've decided to skip v2.1 as its internal squad version only and we did very extensive tests yesterday :) here's a changelog:

Internal Beta v2.1:
- project now runs from 3 .pbo files (ibr_rn.pbo, ibr_plants.pbo and panthera2.pbo) no more CAA1 interference
- replace majority of planted trees with "ILuvGreen" ones to make a summer look
- removed palm tree from desert road
- fixed fence at Smugglers Airport entrance cutting in the small barrack
- added missing paas and removed errors like: hand_okna_ca.paa
- cut down couple of trees near town Most na Soci, nothing big
- added new villages of Livek and Radovna
- added small forests in couple of valleys
- improved make-shift runway in Bovec
- several road and terrain height fixes
STILL OPEN ISSUES:
- gas station Schnell doesn't explode, config bug
- no server keys added yet
- resolve bumpmapping issue with pebble texture (replace)
- further improvement of grassy fields in sat texture
- landing points ILS (need help with that, how to read coordinates and make config for all 4 big airports!)

For the Airports, I strongly suggest [OFPRes] Airstrips/Taxiways by Marksman (http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=details&id=65&game=ArmA)to be found on OFPEC site (http://www.ofpec.com/).

It's all about how to set taxiways and how to set direction for runways.

Just define more airports in the config. Check Sahrani config.
The only hard thing is to figure out coords to let AI / auto pilot not crash.

I think thats because I use only open buildings and BIS spawns folks at doors of closed houses, but I might be wrong. Maybe I have to set some new "markers", because even cars don't show up near villages? :/

There are still open issues before I can release v2.3:
- *fix config so gas station "Schnell" and "army fuel stations" can explode
- *resolve bumpmapping gfx error in pebble and field texture
- remove grass from tarmac in three airports
- check AI landing/takeoff points for all major airports
- connect a island on SouthWest surrounded by river to the "continent" with bridges, roads and new big settlement.
- config and intro-logo fix stating v2.3 in select island screen
- sign files (server keys) for admins
- add bonus mission Crooks v1.3 for Chernarus & Panthera!

* = help appreciated!

It will be available as full version only, since there were too many changes.

As you noticed, v2.3 is still not out. Yesterday we completed a final beta testing of v2.3, but I had to remake Arnoldstein and Smugglers airports (added taxi runways) so AI can use these two. Other 2 smaller airfields can be used by AI too but they have trouble turning at the end (not enough space).

New stuff:
- new island added on SW, property of Druglord Ramon Vidal (Taff Grove Town & Pikia Village)
- added lush vegetation and small villages to Northern mountains and coastal area
- fixed pebble texture and further improvement of all green vegetation
- gas station Schnell and army fuel stations can now explode and burn

Keshman: will add it, don't ya worry.

Just some comments on the island...

The sat texture looks bad in some places, mainly some parts seem to have a shadow in the texture and some parts are blue. I can't make out any of those problems in the screenshots of the new version so maybe it's been improved?

The ArmA 1 buildings lack the proper material definitions of the ArmA 2 buildings. So bullets can't penetrate them and they show the dirt impact effect when shot. They also lack destructible parts. I know this isn't an easy thing to address but replacing some buildings with similar ArmA 2 ones would be an improvement IMO.

Anyway, good work on the island. Look forward to the update :)

Nope, Ramon's been killed in August 5th 2008 in a PvP multiplayer event "Tourists on Uhao" (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=68728&highlight=tourists), but his partners too his business over, along with villas and drug factories:)

Sorry, have no experience in creating Warfare/CTI maps :/ but I'll setup a page where missions will be posted for this island.

Update report just before the release of 2.3:
- added several lakes and rock formations to improve the rocky areas that will be useful for my "Cliffhanger" mission that I'm making.
- added river in Northern area and smaller settlements (shacks)
- upgraded airports so they are now bigger and feature taxi paths (also for AI)
- numerous terrain fixes (smoothing)

j/k, final tests are underway right now, it will be released if we don't notice any major bugs... and there is a massive upgrade, I alone spent more than 80 hours on this project in just a month :)

My heart dropped when i read that :/:D

I've been using this island to practice my low level flying with the F-16 through the valleys. Just awesome. It reminds me of when i was little and holidaying in the lake district. the raf would fly though the valleys and scare the shit out of me. i've been obsessed ever since. Kudos. :cool:

Place the clouds module. In the mission editor under "modules".

Anyway, I had a quick fly around the map. Looks great. Satmap is improved. Still has a few shadows and dark spots but nothing serious.

The valleys could make for some great helicopter missions, plenty of places to hide from the enemy here.

Absoultelly great update!

However the replaced trees is for the ones that are the most FPS killer (to me anyway) so i get bad bad FPS by hills and by the river. That is not your fault. Hope BIS do something about them. Cause they look awesome.

This island looks amazing now though. I just need a pc upgrade lol. :)

Very nice island Icebreakr, the sat image looks much better now. Just a few things that might need attention further down the track.

1.Bridges, some of them are not lined up properly with the terrain in some places

2.Some buildings are on the roadways.

3.Runways, need the grass cutter on some areas and also need flattened out noticed some are a little bumpy :)

Other than that lovely island the best so far....Keep it up mate

-Missing Road Section at Belca
-Some areas of Landsat are a blue green, I don't know if you can fix this though

I knocked up a small tourism mission and put it on my dedi server so me and a mate could have a fly around.
I joined first and admin up and started the mission, he joined and got an error.

That is from the ArmA 1 building RH. Its like that on all those buildings. Its even like that on all islands that use that building in ARMA2.

Hope it can be fixed somehow it really spoils the immersion.

i found problems with bridges tanks sink in it not through but they sink in it tracks are not visble used p85 t- 55 and for some add reason some of the troops wont cross the bridge

RH: BIS imported A1 buildings and somehow they f*cked up shadow LODs, put Shadows to High and the "bug" will disappear. I surely won't be fixing BIS errors.

Now we have the 1st three AAS-Missions available on our 2nd Server using Panthera 2.3 and of course the CoolBox-AAS-Scripts r284. It´s so great to have rivers now, destroyable bridges and that you can enter/climb nearly all buildings. You did a fantastic job Ice! Playing AAS now is more intense than ever before. Missions will be released seperatly after some gameplay tests.

Well, many servers still don't have signed signatures for Panthera. Hopefully that is about to change now that missions are coming out of the "woodwork".

Errr, you quit the game, remove @<hidden> from -mod= parameter and restart, is that too hard? I'm not sure if FO3 has a menu for enable/disable mod, but Oblivion did that in launcher.

First of all my congrats to this very detailed and beautiful Island of yours. I love it very much and I guess it has been a hell of a work for you to complete it. I’m still testing different things.

AI driving:

AI stays on roadways most of the time I gave a Humvee unit a way point from South to North. There are some traps where the normally stupid AI gets stuck when driving vehicles but it manged 90 % of all trials I did, to overcome all hard obstacles he might encounter on it’s way. There are some sharp 90° curves where the AI had slightly difficulties but they kept going after some 30-40 seconds. I experienced 2 times that they left roadways because the AI most probably lost track of the path. But most of the time there were no driving issues of the AI.

The atmosphere of Panthera 2,3 is really great and the Island is so beautiful that it’s pity to let a war lose on your Island, instead of making holidays on it. LOL.

I just found 1 annoying thing, the same Paullies already pointed out. There is 1 wooden barn of Armed Assault I guess which has a floating shadow somehow. It is not a game breaking issue however it disturbs and it leaves this masterpiece with a little flaw. Which is really a pity due to your outstanding work and effort you put in to create this fantastic Island.
If it was me I would try to fix it . . . if it can’t be fixed easily I would remove it from the map then to make it a true masterpiece without any kind of issues. But hey . . . it’s just my personal opinion.

Once again my kudos. And thank you for sharing this beauty with the community.

When I downloaded 2.3, it had 3 pbos in the 7z.
ibr_plants.pbo
ibr_rn.pbo
panthera2.pbo

Now, when I look at the Armaholic page, it has these files listed as included.
ibr_plants.pbo

roads.pbo
slo_objects.pbo

Have I missed an update?

There's your problem there. never ever put user made content (mods/addons/etc) into the official addons folder. make a modfolder instead. it is to avoid this kind of problem and more.

Then use alpinestar ARMA2 launcher. It will manage the mod you want to load

Downloaded and tried island a couple of days ago, only briefly. Looks good, but I find the AI to have extreme difficulties with the brigdes. Sorry if this was already mentioned, didn't have to to read all.

I can't get it to work!

1). Copy the folder "@<hidden>" which include a sub folder called "addons" into "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2". The addons folder should have the following files:

Well according to the readme it said to install it on addon folder in arma 2 :confused: so what do i do now? create a seperate addone folder within the root directory of arma 2 such has c:/Arma 2 and create a fodler called addons2 or something?

How would i load up the addons? same way using the -mod@<hidden> shortcut? how does it find this mod if its in a different location?

extract the files and you'll be left with a folder called @<hidden> Move this folder into your main Arma 2 folder, ie C:\Bohemia Interactive\Arma2\

Now either use a launcher to find this addon folder or change your target line in your shortcut icon on your desktop. At the end of the target line should be something like this:

.... -mod= @<hidden>

Pretty straight forward really mate.

Yes it's too bad because it kinda limit your missions a bit, i was making a mission at "Most na Soci" but gave up on it due to AI vs bridge problems :(

Wonder if it can be fixed, it would really be nice though :)

Make a copy of your ArmA2 shortcut and add the -mod=@<hidden>
-nosplash is optional

Yeah, there were several of SBP members working on that stuff. Smukec worked on unit uniforms, McHide on weapons, LWulf on configs and technical knowledge, Aryes and couple others I'm sure etc.
Hopefully Panthera will get their army and police soon ;)

well i was having a blast with this island ( race track haha!!) and was annoyed that i couldnt do ANY missions on it so i adapted cipher to it, i would like to let it out but not sure if it would be a good thing :) [in other words, wiper, can i? lol ]
i have never played a mission to completion so i dono if it fails but i can say it does get a whole hell of a lot harder to do cipher on panthera :)
all of the mountains and all of the crazy bumps on the roads made me remove the moter cycles and put in a car ( VW )

You should PM Wiper and not ask here. Good idea, but be sure you PM him. Lots of work has gone into that mission and you need permission to do it.

yeah i know it must have took a long time, thats why i asked.
and i posted it here cause i was seeing if there was interest, saying i liked panthera and asking at the same time lol. ill pm him later in the week after i know there is no weird bug that is game killer.


oh and panthera with grass is just a frame killer, even without the trees are pretty dense and drop my frames a little mainly when scoped and driving but not too bad. LOVE the desert area

Yes first i uploaded only panthera.pbo and the server was running but not showing on servers list then i put the rest of the pbo+bisign file and it worked

I've been looking at this cracking island but the island doesnt show up in the campaign menu, does that mean that it's multiplayer only?

I have installed it al by the book but how is everyone here playing it? Sorry if it's a stupid question but if it is MP only then I dont have a chance as i've only got a crappy pay as you go dongle, boo.

Ah it does show up in the single player editor, but not in the campaign menu so does that mean I have to add my own edits to the map and it doesnt have any pre determined AI on it and it doesnt have a campaign?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, i'm still getting the hang of it all and I only get about half an hour on me gaming pc before I get moaned off it.. :o

Task #5439 (Closed): Town Zelezniki re-done.
Bug #5402 (Closed): Radovljica re-done, new streets, more realistic urban design.
Bug #5405 (Closed): Hangars (hut_old02.p3d) that have bugged shadow lods were replaced (p3d) with working one (A1), works perfectly.

Now this is odd. New Skooma doesn't look at all like that for me. For me, there's maybe 30 buildings there, perhaps a quarter of what I can see in those pics.
