Picture at the bottom (http://www.virtualbattlefieldsystems.com/vbs02a.html) seems to display another windows cursor problem! http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

sometimes when you play games, you have that windows cursor thing showing up. guess VBS is no exception.

These updated pics also prove the link between the eDimensional 3D glasses ads on the BIS and opVietnam sites (see other threads recently).

The VBS main page has the same gfx and the tall grass shots that feature in the ad. The VBS1 site says:

VBS1 is designed for Military, ..... It is not intended for entertainment purposes.

Yea right, who are they kidding! ***http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Who wants to make a bet that in the not too distant future VBS1 (or a very close derivative) is what we'll come to know affectionately as OFP2? ***http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

that tall grass looks extremely sweet!! the geforce4 requirement does not http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif (I can JUST make the cpu requirement I think - 1500MHz amd)
but it'll only be a question of time before we'll see grass like that etc, however the things that the vbs has which we won't see are military *secrets* or whatever - I've never been in the army - thank heavens - as you can probably see.
the graphics will "eventually" arrive, not even the military can stop that.

Why cant we get those good graphics!
Will Resistance look like that?

Got a plan!

we just have to find someone in the army that we can payoff with (7-8% canadain) beer, russian vodka ***or cuban Cigars to give us a Disc or let us buy a disc off them ***http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Dose BSI have any plans of selling it in the future?

Is it really that much better graphics in VBS1 compared to the graphic in OFP??…all I see is new models and yes they look good but so does most of the ones we have in OFP too.
That grass everyone is talking about can easily be done with just some polygons and some high res textures…you cant really say if it looks good before you see it in 3D… I think we will have a equally good looking game when we get Resistance with support for high res textures.
I don’t think the system requirements of VSB1 is so high only because they updated the graphic engine but more because they have more advance AI or something.

It sure does look good....but nothing that couldn´t also be achived by the modding community, especially after Resistance has been released (high Texturing possible).
For the Hardwarespecs...i assume that they are set this high to ensure fluid operation under all circumsstances, a mil. Sim that is lagging (low FPS) is unsuitable for training purposes.
Imagine an Debrief of a F-16 Simlator session,
- "Lt. xyz, why did you loose control of the aircraft?"
- "Sir, lag got me killed"

VBS1 has grass, and here is, what Operation Flashpoint
has to say:

http://ofp.gamezone.cz/screenshots/grasOFP.jpg

note: screenshots are from www.operationflashpoint.cz
taken from the planet of war mod

Edit: btw - they are available to download there too

DV Chris Death,

If you see closely to this "TCgras.pbo" addon (from mod "Planet of War", good work), you will find that it is simple standard models of "bush" from OFP:

- "data3d\ker rakosi.p3d"
...

Just put it repeatedly many times on the map.

I think it is better to create grass model like forest model (big right-angled triangle) and inherits this class from "bush" class.

Some corn fields would be nice, or other high vegetation that conseals the player and his squad...or the enemy.

I tried to make some grassy field with the addons.. It looked EXACTLY like the VBS screens (more or less).. the only problem was that it dragged me down to about 15 FPS (GF2Ti 1200mhz AMD, 144mhz ram).. but it did look impressive..

oh BTW mission load time :45 seconds.

Try turning shadows off when using the grass mod. I noticed the shadows on the ground, must be a really heavy performance hit (have downloaded but not installed yet).

Why is it that none of the VBS pictures are available when I GOT THERE to see them?! http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif All this "it looks wonderful" talk, then when I click the links they are all broken and the site under construction or maintenance.
