Here comes little tweak for those who like flying attack choppers in A2.

:coop:

Features:
- more triggerhappy WSO
- FFARs under pilot's direct control
- player can access gunner's weapons directly using manual fire
- helicopter can fire rockets and cannon in bursts simultaneously... well, at least AI does!

Known issues:
- Kamikaze AI pilots - arming them with FFARs made them risk their lifes much more
- affects locally created units only (won't work on coops unless server has the addon)

Affected choppers:
- AH-1
- Mi-24 (variants D/V)
- Ka-52

Installation:
- just like any other addon that goes to [Mod\]AddOns folder.

Thanks for mirroring!

Unsigned due to it's early stage, so you'll probably have to disable it in order to play online. Signatures will follow "stable" release.

Hi I just had a question and comment.

1. "-player can access gunner's weapons directly using manual fire" You can already do this without the help of addons, am I misunderstanding something here?

2. Your addon disabled my ability to zoom in with the right-mouse button for some reason. Whenever I fly around I use the right-mouse button to zoom in and look for targets, when the addon is activated I cant.

How about reducing the speed the AI makes use of the FFAR. Might help.

omg zGuba's addons for ArmA2 *dances around with happyness*

Thanks!
Sounds like something ArmA2 should have by default (especially those FFARs activated by pilots etc) though.. Community addons save the day once again :)

btw, are you planning/doing Compact Fix 2? :bounce3:

One more thing: Could you add a crosshair (maybe the classic + one from airplanes) to pilots view? It's quite hard to aim the FFARs right now.

kju: You mean maxLeadSpeed for FFAR magazines? Thx for input!

randir14: I'll check the issue. Probably it's another "undocumented feature", hence I think it's not possible to fix if you want to use my modification.
I said about manual fire to get rid of questions about "how do I access my weapons now?"

Cole: I'll probably use ][-shaped marker for Cobra if needed (Russian helis have functional HUDs).
About CF2 - it's developers' job fixing the game, and I'm not the one ;) currently I'll only release addons that change gameplay the way BI probably wouldn't accept.

Heh, I completely understand and agree with you, but Compact Fix had some cool additional stuff, too, like ZGB_EjectionSeats and manual reload for mounted weapons, so hopefully you're going to bring those things to ArmA2, too :)

(The reload one could be considered a fix for ingame bug, but since we can't _afaik_ reload mounted weapons since OFP, I'm not expecting that to change)

Thanks for pointing this out - gonna report it on CIT :)

Good idea, but I think it's going to take a really long time before that's implemented.
Maybe for Arrowhead and the ArmA2 patch that would contain Arrowhead fixes?

Not sure what you did,but I'm happy you actually made the Hinds usable in AI hands now instead of fucking around the battlefield and do nothing. They still don't engage too often armor on their own,but with your addon if I designate targets they actually do their job and they don't even miss that often.
Heck I even managed to destroy 4 T72,2 BMP2 and one BRDM2 with just two AI Hinds and me only tell them what to target.:681:

This happens in the regular game, it's not caused by the mod.
