The campaign names are saved in savegames afaik, if you start a new mission from the campaign with this mod, it'll be english. (I have half of my campaign names in czech...)

err, sorry I DID a russian version too (hence the key) because

I thought it makes things easier for people dropping in and searching for one, and
I do not see the language mod as MINE or YOURS, but as a service for the community !
The key is included because it is needed to document the originating of the pbo for connecting on some servers, and not to document ownership.

I dont see where a problem should arise as well, if servers have load up both of our keys.
However, If you prefer just tell - I do not have a problem removing the ru2en version link & upload.

SilveR anyone can sign pbos. It is about the server admin that chooses which key to use.
No issue at all with other people creating keys. The source addon should be properly
credited (if not done already).

so here's the problem i have. i added the patch and everything translates however when i go to a server it says session lost. i then put back the original pbo lang files and it will connect so why can't i connect with the modified english files? i have 2 games 1 in german and 1 in dutch. this really blows you'd think they were smart enough to add a damn language option inside the game or some shit so we dont have to do this crap. been on it all day with no luck. please help me, thanks, monkee

I have the same problem as Raf. Some servers won't allow this mod... Sometimes it says just "session lost" and other times it tells me that the server isn't signed. I guess that means that the server admin isn't allowing any mods to be run on the server. Ugh, dumb! This never happened before the patch. Can anyone please help?

Every server or just some of them ?
Server need to have the required server key loaded to except for particular mods.
Did you try to ask the server admin or anyone who probably knows on that server ?

Cant do, unfortunately. The language files I have dont support dutch ! (a german dl version and a 505 DVD)

One thing I noted reading your previous post:
Did you actually change the original language files in the Arma2\Dta and Arma2\AddOns folder ??
If so that could easily be the reason for your connecting troubles, I guess.

Try to never touch original data, let allone for future patches, they wont work with non original files.
Always create a mod folder and put the content in.

However, maybe I misinterpreted your lines and you already did all that.
In that case I'm a bit lost as I dont have an idea what went wrong.
To my knowledge most servers have the required server key installed and if installed properly your connection should be accepted.

no i used the lang files on my german version as a mod but i found out whats going on. need to have each server individually accept the cd key. that really sucks. arma 2 has alot of fixing to do or else it's going to lose alot of players cause of all this.

Just use the original 505 language .pbos. PM me for 1.02 version language (works fine in 1.03, just a few new texts missing that were added by the 1.03 patch).

All servers allow them by default.

I'm still getting problems. I install the mod as usual with the @<hidden> folder in the main ArmA 2 folder, and I add the shortcut...it still won't load the language patch. I had this problem in 1.02 and I'm not sure if there was a solution. I'm still having the problem. :|

Seems to have problems with most servers using sig check? I don't use it anymore because mods are not allowed in the ESL although i'd love to have the language in english.

Thank you Wiper for this work of yours, Hungarian translation is so much horrible that I'm positive BIS used "Google translate" for it. I didn't understand what the hell some sentences wanted to mean, words were just put behind each other without making any sense. (like Shakira's first songs in English - English speakers didn't understand what does she sing).

A good example in the editor FireTeam Leader was translated to Tűzvédelmi osztag vezető (means Fire Extinghuisher group leader in english :yell: :D)

Agreed. I purchased the game from Germany back in May from Nexway...have to keep updating with this mod, and thank you Wiper for all of this!

are you sure you installed all correctly?

extracted Arma2_v1.04_hu2en.7z to your arma folder so that @<hidden> shows up there and Dta and AddOns folder are inside ?
added @<hidden> to the -mod option of your desktop shortcut ?

You'll find additional installation hints there as well as some discussions about install issues some people noticed.

If all is set up well the mod should work nicely anyway,
just tell if you still face problems

Nope. I overwrite the original BIS pbos in AddOns and Dta folders with pbos from Arma2_v1.04_hu2en.7z.

I think I found an oversight in the @<hidden> version 1.04.

Please get the 1.03 version in the meanwhile. That version should work, just some minor content was changed in 1.04 I guess.

Need to check if other language mods are also affected.
Will reupload and inform you when done.

You can't. That's the point of not allowing addons. If the server admin decides he doesn't want to allow any mods at all, you just can't connect with a mod to that server.

Every time i use these mods i get kicked of the server :( but i found other way to change language and play in internet.
All you need to do is to find ArmA 2 1.00 ENG Language files(Ask your friend to reinstall the game :D) from addons and dta folder and put them into yours. I don't know why, but 1.00 versions files does not require a key :) Ofcoure now we have 1.05 patch which implemented changes like server control button which didn't exist in 1.00 so whener i click him i see buttons with no text in :) but that's not a big problem.

P.S If you need those language files just send me a pm with your email :)

There is a little problem with ACE2.

Some of the commands and text will be still written in Polish since I suppose ACE2 reads from the original languages .pbo. Even when @<hidden> is before @<hidden> in the target line. Any ideas how to change that?

I think I've found a little problem Wiper. I'm not sure if it's only on my dedicated server, but the bisign files were not accepted until I renamed them (for example):
from: language.wiper.bisign
to: language.pbo.wiper.bisign

I'm using the Hungarian mod, but I've noticed that the German has the same bisign filenames.
Can you confirm this problem?

man, this is a life saver - had to reinstall my arma2 after that beta uninstaller removed actual arma2 content. this mod helped me understand what;'s being said by dialogues.

but could you perhaps do one for ACE2 as for some reason ace2 gives me words in german (i bought the game digitally from german petergames in my haste to get it. )

Yes, I am still very angry about this. The customer should be able to play the game in the preferred language. I personally absolutely dont like the polish localization on my copy. I would like to play it in english...without the need of a mod. :(

@<hidden>: try loading the language mod in a seperate folder after ACE. ACE simply detects the language of the CD key and sets the language accordingly, so you have to make any changes seperately to ACE and after it has finished performing its alterations. e.g. -mod=Ace;@<hidden>

Yeah, unfortunately this mod (or any pbo modification*) can't help with that. There's 3 options for people like you and me:

1) Just play with your local language (this option SUCKS ass)
2) Wait for BIS to eventually add optional English to ArmA2 (doubt that'll ever happen :rolleyes: )
3) Ask ACE dev team to add language selection to the userconfig file (see the text in brackets in option 2)

I got a similar problem. I bought the A2 + A2OA for my wife as it was offerd for 12,95€ on sprocket. I installed the games with my DVD´s but have use the deliverd DVD-keys. It is not possible to select german as respective language, even as I have replaced the languagecore.pbo´s.

Does someone have a solution on this issue? Are the supported languages locked to the DVD key (which would make absolutely no sense as it is a barrier than anythings else)?

Yes the language lock depends on the cd key.

It's because of some selling rights, different in various countries.

I personally am really not happy with it, as I would like to play in English, but bought my copy here in Poland and can't switch to English.

I think at least there should be the possibility to switch between English and a local language.

This sometimes really is troublesome, especially when you want to describe a problem on the forum and then have to translate everything.
So I really am not happy with this limitation at all. :mad:
