I´ve got a delicate little problem for U all to help me solve:
When I´m joining my friends session that he´s hosting it´s all good, but after playing for a while it can be 5min, 25min, 1h the game suddenly FREEZES !!
The time I can play before OPF freezes is different from time to time. Can´t even use ctl+alt+del to close down, I have to reboot the whole "enchilada".
And it is the same story if I´m hosting and he´s joining, it´s f**ckin frustrating to have it like this!!!

To start, make sure that you have the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers installed.

Other things that can cause total freezes are overheating and insufficient current being supplied by the PSU. How are things in that department?

You may want to download Motherboard Monitor to keep an eye on both the CPU temperature and the various voltages that need to be supplied by the power supply.

Thx Mr Frag !!!

Will try the VIA 4in1 drivers, but what do theydo?? Why do I need them ??

My "can" is a Chieftec Big Tower and it supplies 340W

The VIA 4-in-1 drivers (available here (http://www.viahardware.com/download/index.shtm#4in1)) are specific to VIA chipsets and help Windows talk to the memory controller, AGP bus, disk controller etc. that are implemented using VIA circuits.

Getting a current version of these drivers may solve a bunch of compatibility and performance issues for you.

ALso, change from AGP 4x to AGP 2x - this is done in the BIOS.

Why should I change the AGP4x to 2x ?? My graphic card and MB supports 4x.

Where do I find the latest VIA 4in1 drivers ??

you don't need to down grade your 4X AGP, Crashing on the net

if you have been crashing in SP then make sure to get the VIA upgrade 4.35

if it's just the Net make sure to post back

there are several things we'll have you test, things like your DirectX network, and reinstalling your TC/IP

Because you have 1.30 you will just have more Net crashing problems, 1.30 is buggy in this regard, and may just be affecting you more then others

Also this is a harsh question , but if you have a burnt copy, there are simular Net problems that kick you out of games

Thx for all the help !!!!
I´ll try and set down the AGP to 2x, because it´s when i´m playing online the "can" freezes.......
I´ve got the original disc, so it can´t be that problem anyways.....

i´l post again if this doesn´t work......thx again for the quick replies

btw.......this forum rox.

no thats very rare you need to do that
only 1 or 2 ppl said that it's help with crashes and I doubt that was even a factor

you should run at 4X, other wise you might as will go and buy a PCI Vid card and get less frame rate

if you did do that you would see slower FPS and chooper resiultion and a few other things

By far the largest impact that changing the AGP rate has in on texture transfers from the computer's system memory to the video card, and this only happens when not all of the textures fit into the video card's memory. With 64MB of memory and texture compression being common, AGP transfer rates are much less important than they were when video cards had 4MB to 16MB of RAM.

Given that the impact on performance is probably negligible, I would try dropping down the AGP transfer rate anyway, and see if that eliminates the problem. If you still see the same lockups, by all means, change it back to 4x.

I know from personal experience that the AGP rate does affect stability. I used to have a GeForce2 GTS that wouldn't run reliably at AGP 2x in a system based on the Intel 440BX chipset, which is one of the most stable combinations I could think of. At AGP 1x, it ran beautifully. I now have a GeForce3 Ti200, and this card runs just fine at 2x (the higher speed supported by the motherboard).
