It could also mean you are trying to connect to a server that does not allow mods, and you are trying to connect with a mod in your target string.

It does not say "bad version" when you try connect with mods not allowed. It will show a list and tell you what mods arent allowed.

im also getting this problem on a small collection of servers

i have the steam version, which is up to date
i did install the VopSound 2.1 mod and have removed that

i still get "Bad Version" when trying to join some servers

deleting the arma2 folders in "My Documents" fixed the problem

ive done everything you all said but i still have this problem, its getting very annoying because i have to go onto the demo to play online.

you say folders. I see two arma 2 folders in my documents
'Arma 2' and 'Arma 2 other profiles'.

Which one did you delete?
