Hope this can make people complaining about the grass happier :)
Btw When I saw the lawnmover I was thinking I could cut down the grass in real time by "driving" the lawnmover across the grass :D

how does this effect AI?
THX alot.
Used a similar Addon for ArmA.
Makes Chernarus a bit more save for me. Lying on open ground, while seeing something ...
Any chance that you do some "Schnipp Schnapp Rasen ab" Work on the small island of Utes?!
Gruß benus
@<hidden>: Overall Clutter has no effect on AI afaik.
@<hidden>: I dont realy see a reason to lower the clutter on Utes. Its alredy very restrained. But il keep this in mind for any further updates if needed.

I haven't tried this mod yet, but how will it effect PVP?
Is there a dramatic difference in how much it takes away?

since this addon is only "a very small performance boost"
I have a feeling it will be temporary.
When the planed feature get implemented into the engine (clutter blocking AI sight) i doubt this addon will be use again. I might be wrong.
Anyway, good job SgtAce ;)
Thanks Ace! Might be my imagination, but there does appear to be a performance boost on my system.

BIS have stated they are looking at AI/Clutter interaction?

BIS have stated they are looking at AI/Clutter interaction?
They promised it will be implemented, it is in their plans. So we can expect it in a future patch ;)
Yep BIS said it long time ago. That taller grass etc was gonna be AI blocked. I remember thinking about sneaking over meadows with ghillie to get closer and closer to AI using the tall grassy parts between me and AI.
Another funny thing is that i noticed a unit in ghillie and a guy without were standing at the same distance (450 meter-ish) and i was looking with binos at them - identifying them (we were on same side) and i could get the spotter up, but the ghillie was never revealed even though i saw him clearly. Does that mean it is lower detection on ghillie? Hmm.
BTW cool addon. My mates get better performance indeed. :)

Great mod, can actually use the prone button now. And at least if I get shot I can see who shot me too

@<hidden>: Camouflage values from the allInOne.cpp:
USMC_Soldier_Base: 1.8
USMC_SoldierM_Marksman: 1
USMC_SoldierS (scout): 0.75
USMC_SoldierS_Spotter (ghillie): 0.5
USMC_SoldierS_Sniper (ghillie): 0.5
So at least the values are in.
Very nice SgtAce. I will be trying this out asap, but it looks like a keeper.

Correct. Ghillie snipers have best camo (are hardest for ai to spot). Then the values go up from there depending on the unit type. Enjoy your stealthy sniping :)

Great mod. my only wish is that this lower height of clutter would be made part of the 1.03 patch. Not only does it mean you can go prone and have a fighting chance of seeing the AI whilst it perforates your head, but imho it makes the terrain transition from close (clutter area) to medium (just flat texture) much less obvious and jarring. excellent stuff.

Yer, options is what we need for this beautiful game, i want to choose the length and amount of sway the grass can move, i think you could gain a few frames if you had a option to turn off grass and trees movement to help the mid and low range pc gamers, like in crysis.

Fabulous stuff, this has given me 5fps increase, and it looks and plays far better. I could kiss you :D

How do I use it once I downloaded it?
Lockdown:
Add the folder (@<hidden>) just as it is to your ARMA2 directory (NOT in ARMA2/Addons!). Right click your ARMA2 launching icon (ARMA2 shortcut on desktop) and hit properties. Top of that window you have a field called Target and in there you have a path to ARMA2.exe. In the end of it just make 1 space (space button) and add this line: -mod=@<hidden>
You can also add -nosplash after or before that one to load ARMA2 faster (skipping splash screens).
And to add more addons later you just add a semi-colon ";" between addons looking like this: -mod=@<hidden>;mod2;mod3
Alex
Without offense, i don't like this mod.
It seems to be like a FIFA 09 pitch in my mind...
It's so beautifoul the original clutter on Chernarus

I agree. Mods like this is good as it give players options, but I do hope that BIS will keep the original clutter.

i dont like this mod either. i love how the vegetation is dense.
if there was just a mod to make grass shorter AND another mod to make the grass draw distance longer than it would be better for me and other who DO love how nicely the vegetation looks but want a better gameplay\visual experience.

Don't use it then. It's all about choice.

I would prefer to keep the dense vegatation.
But im on one of maybe the most ancient machines running ArmA2 - so its a must for me!
For the fps boost it gives me!:yay:

Sorry if I'm missing something, or maybe I'm just dumb, but there is no .bikey file inside the zip, so I have no idea how to tell our server to accept clients that use this addon. Any help or hints greatly appreciated.

edit: ofpec tag is outdated use :http://dev-heaven.net/projects/list_files/sap

:pThanks, but unfortunately that key doesn't work, people keep getting kicked if they have the SAP-Clutter version that is downloadable at Armaholic et al.
Any way to get this working? I really dont want to open the server completely for any weird addons someone may brew for himself, so a working key is needed.
Is there any reason why the key is not included with the addon, like most other addons do?

There is also a(nother) "SAP.bikey" file available at the DevHeaven project page: here (http://dev-heaven.net/projects/list_files/sap). Will that work?

Why don't you include everything in 1 pack (pbo+signed files+server key) ?

Old thread, but worth a try ...
Trying to use this with Arrowhead 1.54 & doesn't seem to be lowering the grass the way it does with my reg Arma 1.07 - is this arrowhead compatible ?
Any help appreciated . . .

Works fine here (of course on Chernarus and Utes only).
