Hi

Im new to mission making in Arma and would like to ask a few questings.

1: I am currently trying to place 3 machinegun nests in a defensive position in some old ruins.

This is how i want them set up. The thing is when i load the game to check it out the machine gune nests are all over the place, two of them are inside one of the ruined towers! anyone tell me what im doing wrong ?

2: is there a guide on how to use the mission editor in Arma2 ?

Thank you all.

I think the grouping may affect your object placement. It looks like the MG nests are grouped with a unit in the middle there. Remove the grouping and see if that helps. (press F2 for "groups", click on one of the nests and drag to an empty space, that should remove the line you see going from the nest to the unit.)

Or just open the unit dialog and change the "In Formation" to "None", if you need to keep them grouped.
