So when you're actually throwing the grenade it can cause damage enough to make a whole building / part of building to collapse. Thats the object(grenade) itself causing it not the actual explosion that is produced by the grenade.
Another one related to grenades seems to be the animation , you can double tap to throw a grenade , the soldiers makes the animation but no grenade is thrown. Not sure if it was only while running this happen.
