Hi,

just finished my 7 hours download, installation went smoothly until I tried to start the game and got this:

I've restarted my system.

my specs are:

Intel Q9450 Quad
4 gig Ram
Windows xp 32
Inno3d 9800Gx2
all drivers up to date (was playing arma1 while downloading arma2)

no other known system issues, HD has 100 gig free space, directx is up to date.

update directx software might help.

just re- downloaded directx.

I've also uninstalled arma2 and I'm now re-installing it

edit - directx re-install failed to do anything.

I've un-installed the game and now attempting a fresh re-install

update - fresh arma2 install failed to fix problem.

1:35am gonna give it up for the night.

I'll try again tomorrow with a fresh head.

just a bit disappointing to say the least.

I've re-set the download to see if a total new dl and install works :) off to bed

update - download completed for second time over night.

4th attempt to install arma2 went ok to the point of starting the game, same crash to desk top from launch.

I've run the directx 'dxdiag' test and everything appears ok, no conflicts, I do not have problems running any other game, and I also have arma1 fully patched to beta 1.16 with ace 1.09 which runs perfect.

It appears something on my system doesn't like arma2 and I'm at a loss to check/find the error.

Something that has come up a couple of times is make sure you have the latest firmware for your DVD drive.

another update, I have win 7 64 on a partition and thought what the hell I'll try installing on that.

It works perfectly, runs smooth as, and it's everything I was expecting of Arma2.

Now if I can only get it working on win xp I'll be laughing.

Had the same issue.
Luckily I found out the file monitor of my virus scanner was the culprit (NOD32 AMON).
