Hello

The Graphic flicker(white) Every time when i look up in the sky, an ammobox, or a bright landscape.

My graphic card is an ATI HD 4870X2 with the newes driver.

(I hope you understand me, my English isn't good.)

This looks like Crossfire related problem.

Renaming your arma2.exe to forcesingleGPU.exe should help with the problem for now.

Other option is to use Disable Catalyst AI in your drivers but note that it will completely disable application specific optimizations of the ATI drivers.

It is possible that with new ATi drivers there will be some better solution but we need to wait.

ATI may bring out a patch for ARMA2 for there cards i remeber they done it a while back with another game.

Arma2 is not able to properly utilize 4870x2? It has been around for ages! Great, so now I'll get horrible FPS on a top dollar vid card because it will only run on one core or buggy... If it's ATI's responsibility to get these things sorted then why have I seen tons of games that ATI never released anything for that just ran well on dual GPU straight out of the box? On top of that, Arma2 is not most well known game so I'm not confident ATI will put it at the top of their list. Dissapointing :(

Ati has had a profile for ARMA2 in there drivers for the last few releases. Who knows what the issue is yet. You ALWAYS turn off CF to debug. Being a CF and SLI user since the beginning, its the way its done. It would help if posters like you would stfu so we can keep the noise down and find out the issue. I hope a mod will prune this thread and other Troubleshooting threads from all the one liner Troll crap. It would help if posters with the issues can give more info.

I'd agree I've always been playing with SLI and games hardly ever work out of the box. I'd rather it be out a little sooner for the majority of people who don't have the multi-gpu and lets get stuck into finding out what the problem is.

This is such a great forum, where people that are slightly criticizing anything immediately get jumped on. Dev's have a bug tracker so they don't have to scan pages of threads for info. A forum is for voicing ones opinion on things. The issue, as you put it, should have been found out already in my opinion. This problem has been around for ages on arma, so has the 4870x2. Thus my dissapointment to see it again in arma2. I've seen it way too many times already where game dev's say nvidia/ati need to fix their drivers and nvidia/ati put the ball back in game dev's court, end result is nothing happens. But thanks for your rude reply. Internet etiquette rule 1: dont say anything you wouldn't dare say to someone's face.

Having Catalyst AI at "High" caused exactly the described behaviour in Arma1 with my two X1950 Pros. Lowering Catalyst AI fixed it so that it only flickers for a few seconds when entering the game, but other than that it works fine.

Never ever ever ever ever x200

Have catalyst A.I at high or off

Most games take into account that the default is the lower option so they design the game around it therefore if you change the setting it can give you undesirable effects :)

If you have any problems with ARMA2 and you know its because of the ATI driver please report them here
http://ati.supportcenteronline.com/ics/survey/survey.asp?deptID=894&surveyID=486

So they get fixed in driver releases as soon as possible

"Renaming your arma2.exe to forcesingleGPU.exe" (or arma2.exe.exe, was an accident, but i don't know what happen when i write *.exe.exe) it works.:)

"Other option is to use Disable Catalyst AI" it works, too.:)

thx at all and i hope i can use both GPU's.:)

Hello M-Dust, and everyone else. New to the forums :D

I also have an ATI HD 4870X2 2GB card. So it's true you can disable the 2nd GPU by simply changing the arma2.exe to forcesingleGPU.exe?

And how does the game perform for you? Very Highest settings? Resolution? Average framerate?

My Spec:

CPU: Q6600 @<hidden> 3.6Ghz
RAM: 4GB @<hidden> 1066Mhz
GFX: ATi HD 4870X2 2GB

Thank you

i start the game with the -winxp command , but the gpu ussage are only at 30%-50% for both gpu´s during play....

whats the problem?
i have buy this cool card extra for plying arma2 in high res :butbut:
but it seems to be a problem with arma2 ?

or anyone has a idea?

Interesting, I was going to suggest using AFR-FriendlyD3D.exe

Holy Crab Cakes!

Switched to "Disable Catalust AI" and now i play with everything Very High (honest) and 1680x1050 with averages of 35fps, highs of 50fps and mininum lows of 30fps. 100% silky smooth!

Thanks a MILLION guys!

Not sure if it does help anybody with an ATI GPU X2/Crossfire:
For SLI-Systems the workaround for now is to rename the arma2.exe into crysis.exe,
so the system detects the crysis.exe running when you start the game and uses the appropriate gameprofile for SLI.
Please tell me, if this works with ATI cards as well. Thank you.

Arma framerate friendly ? LoL

Alternate Frame Rendering Friendly Direct 3d executable. Driver optimizations for crossfire are dependent on the exe name. So, renaming ArmA2.exe to FEAR.exe (which is an AFR friendly d3d exe) would select the appropriate crossfire optimization that ATI figures should be used for FEAR. AFR is a crossfire rendering mode, along with supertiling and scissor rendering. Likewise, the exe name that Maruk suggested will render the game without crossfire x, only on one gpu, as per the exe name.

nvidia drivers seams to be a problem with helicopter lights at night as well

all the night lighting needs refixed and adjusted. to dark.

needs reflections from the moon =trees buildings etc.

Try forcing off vsync in CCC. Should eliminate or reduce flicker (did for my 4870X2).

I personally think they should change the hardware recommended spec system on packaging. It should have Minimum specs (cant run it basically, lol.) high end specs(run it on medium most probably) and developers specs(WHAT the #*$&@<hidden>$ developers made the game with) and FUTURE specs what you will need in order to run it the way it should be run.
