Hi,
installed ArmA2 for the 2nd time but still game won't start!
Securom found an emulated drive on my PC and asks me to shut down software as "Alcohol120" or "DaemonTools".
No such Software is present on my Drives!
Nor does this Computer has a CD/DVD-Writer!!
Means there is none of this mentioned Stuff on my PC!
I did a registry check and even there was nothing found like "Alcohol" or "Daemon" !
Does anyone have a clue what my problem is?
I did use the search function, but no success.
I did the google-search and still no success.
I did change my DMA-Mode to PIO-Mode and backwards,no success.
I did sent my Analyzefile to Securom-Support,still no answer means no success either!
I would realy like to peek into this game,is there anybody able to help?
Thank You in advance, guys....

Do you have other software emulating drives? Alcohol and Deamon Tools are most common, but there are many others. CloneCD/CloneDVD.
Also, can you tell what exactly you've got in your PC? Are there external usb drives, what kind of optical drives you have (DVD-RW, Blue-ray, CD-RW, Combo, DVD-ROM etc.)
Any system informations would be helpful.

ARMA2 has securom tut tut
How disappointing, I have heard of this happening with other games rarely, I really don't know how to solve it :(

Thanks for trying to help, guys but there is nothing else than a normal "Samsung DVD-Rom" Drive.
No USB-Drive,no emulation-Drives or any copyrelated software...no DVD-Writer present,so therefor I do not need such software.

please do not doublepost (ever wanted to say that) :D

Could you show us your dxdiag.txt file so we can get a better idea whats your system looks like and what might cause trouble as a first try?

Sure Myke, would love to but the message containing the dxdiag.txt is too long for posting!
Maximum are 50.000 but my message has over 52.000! :-(
trying to cut it down like eliminating the Sound-lines!?

Ok, first, your graphics drivers aren't up to date, dxdiag says you have 185.20 but latest is 185.85. Get the latest nVidia drivers here. (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_185.85_whql.html).
And second, do i see this correct that you have 3 Harddrives installed and one contains 5 different partitions? C, D, E, G and I seems to be all on the SAMSUNG SP2504C. Are these real partitions or is one of them an emulated drive?
Snake_61
May 28 2009, 21:07
Well I do have 5Harddisks and 7Partitions but no emulated drive!
All other Securomgames works fine, even arma1.
Yeah I know I don't have the newest Graphicdrivers installed, but I have the new one already downloaded. You think it might be a Garphicdriver issue?
[FRL]Myke
May 28 2009, 21:09
I really don't know but surely worth a try, nothing to lose there. Dxdiag also says the driver is not WHQL certified but i doubt that this would have any effect on securom.

Discussing cracks on here will result in a permanent ban, this is your only warning.

I hardly guess he means a official BIS patch which disables DVD check as it was done in the past with OFP and Armed Assault. Guessing it since he named it patch and not crack.
But probably i'm just believing in the good parts of humanity. :D

Glad you solved it. And really nice you've posted your solution. Might help others that may have similar problems.

rofl what? ask your devs what they did after arma was released, there was a patch, where you didnt have to put the disc inside your drive all the time. cant believe you are a mod...

Yes Myke,
You took Yourself time trying to help somebody completely unknown to You (like me) that's what I'm realy thankful for...
So I wished to post my solution to help others too ;-)

That was a part of a patch, not a crack.
You can hardly blame others for your own poor choice of words.

Trolls, they always come out of the woodwork when a new game is released
(Referring to Rebel@<hidden>, I'm not calling sparks50 a troll).
Pity about Securom problems. Hopefully they sort it out. Seems common for these copy protections to screw over people with old DVD drives :(
Could be worse though, thank goodness they aren't using Starforce.

The most awful piece of software i've ever dealt with.

he wasn't trolling tho it was a legitamate (sic) point, when the patch came out for ArmA 1 where you didn't have to have the dvd in ur drive it was well welcomed as alot of players hate having to get the disc out n put it in when they go to play.
He wasn't talking about a crack but instead about how BI release patches after awhile where u dont need the disc :)

I knew they would use it again. So I bought an extra drive that can only read dvds. Worked for me :D

Yes we see that now, but it wasn't obvious the first time. And the moronic rude reaction from him was uncalled for. No need to be insulting when someone misunderstands you.
And I see we have another one several posts up from me. It's just childish.

Lads, please keep Discussion on topic. I think it's now obvious that there was a misunderstanding at first but i guess now it's sorted out and there's no longer a need to discuss about. If you don't feel so you're free to use PM for it.

you are right, so ontopic:
from time to time, securom freezes my system and i have to end the task via taskmanager (still using my old dvd drive because my 1 year old drive doesnt work with securom).
its ok to bugtest the game for me, because i know arma2 has a lot of potential, but its so frustrating to not been able to do so, because a crappy copy protection keeps me from testing.

Yes I'm aware of that, if that's all you meant then you have nothing to worry about do you? You certainly were not clear as to what you were implying.
cant believe you are a mod...
If you cannot accept my moderating I can easily find a way to make sure it's no longer a concern for you.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Either get the chip off your shoulder because I closed your thread or you can find some new forums, snide, trolling remarks are not acceptable.
At the end of the day Morphicon are the ones who decided to use Securom, if you want to complain about it then I'd suggest you contact them.

i have to worry about it, because i cant test/play a game properly which i bought because of a horrible bugtesting and a stupid copy protection.
and i wont comment your threatening attempt, i just laugh about it.
that's what you folks get for wanting a hard media ;)
In the last few years, i haven't bought any games that wasn't on digital download. No waiting time ( well, not days atleast ) from you're ordering it, til you can start using it. and in thise enviromental days, mutch less polution ( like i care, i get the game a couple of days faster, that's what i like about it )

Funny how you say I'm starting a flamewar when you keep making remarks like that. Irony.
Well whatever, this is a waste of time I guess.
@<hidden>:
Downloads come with their own trouble, especially the limited activations...
Personally I try to avoid download versions unless they are cheap.

I had the same problem as the initial poster.
My solution:
I've put my DVD in my DVD burner instead of in my DVD rom. (basically changed CD drive) and the problem was solved.
Seems that securom 'saw' my DVD drive as being an image or whatsoever :-)
