View Full Version : Click MP = APPCRASH
This is a particular weird issue, running a ati 3870 HD with Vista and have just updated to latest drivers. Updated my network drivers at same time.
Firewall is off, there isn't a reason for this crash, and it happens in OFP as well!!!

I should be a beta tester because I find the worlds most impossible bugs, I bet NO1 has ever had this occur before, esp in both games.. lol

Tried pretty much everything, even switching to a different NIC. Must be a nasty vista service creating a big problem with OFP tcp system somehow.
Does the MP screen load with the network interface(s) disabled?
Do other games work? Did the game work at any time before this crash started happening? If so -- what did you change? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
Also, it's a longshot, but you could try resetting the IP stack to defaults, steps here (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/19/reinstall-and-reset-tcpip-internet-protocol-in-windows-vista-2003-and-xp/).
It'd probably be a good idea to backup the current registry settings incase it does more harm than good:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\DHCP\Parameters\[/QUOTE]
Yeah will give that a go.
Also it never worked on this install, and OFP does same thing, the MP screen doesn't get to load, just black and dump to desktop with error.
Lets see how she goes, oh and other games appear to work thought I only just got eve on atm.
EDIT: No luck, must be some broken service, I dunno. REALLY not interested in reinstalling vista as it is a day long process on this system.
got this from the netlog. As it fails with the server exe as well

Error is probably winsock 2.0 HOWEVER I dunno howto resolve that.

A google of the 10022 error does seem to point toward Winsock. Try typing netsh winsock reset in an admin command prompt and restart your machine.
Yes that would solve it normally. I found the issue after a reinstall of vista.
Turns out it was the way in which one of my HDD was mounted!! seems the file system wasn't working with certain windows drivers?? I don't understand it myself but it wasn't totally winsocks fault.
