About 5 minutes into a game my Arma crashes with the error. I have it patched and am running no mods.

I have the same problem. With me the cause is overheating of my processor (and potentially 3D chip) - yes, laptop.

Try installing sensor software like Everest and see what temperatures your CPU and such get. (I once had 91°C CPU after ArmA crashed...) If it gets hot, try cooling your hardware better.

overheating isnt the issue.

I found that it is related with my SB Audigy SE sound driver. When I disable this driver in hardware menu, the game works just perfect! (But with no sound, of course... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif ) If the driver is enabled - the game crashes - sometimes after some seconds, sometimes after 5 minutes. Does anyone has some suggestions? Driver reinstall does not help and there are no newer drivers.

Look in device manager under Sound devices - if you have a IDT high definition audio codec - disable it - seems that it works for me - the game no longer crashes! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif

If the above don't work, disable hardware acceleration in audio options (in arma).
