You can use a cheat to end the mission if it really ticks you off... check avon lady's faq:

Alternatively, creep over to Provins, steal the green car that's in the middle of the village (not the UAZ that's guarded outside), drive down the road to the east and come to the alternate evac point from the other side; takes about 25 minutes and you won't have to fire a single shot.

If I remember right, as soon as I started moving, I would get fired on...maybe it's a different car. Or maybe they were after me to begin with. Maybe I'm just nuts...

I think I ended up 4xing that level - crawling and running...

just crank it up to 4x speed and leave the cpu for about 10 minutes. ***Come back and you'll see the fog has set in and you are practically invisible. ***Then just go to the second extraction point and get captured like your supposed to.

I did this one by legging it south along the tree line, dodging the fire from the patrol that come around the forest you start off in (btw, it's been a while, but aren't they Spetznaz?). Then I struck out west moving in between the bushes running that direction (they are between the two forests) and still taking fire. I got to this little town and stole a blue (I think) car, and drove it up the hill west of the town. At the foot of the hill over the crest (I think it has a tree at the crest), there is a forest and I turned back south towards the eventual new pickup (where the Soviets wait). Then I got out and ran to the forest, into the trap. That was on my 400,000 time I think.

What a level that is, I was sweating and my heart was going when I was safe.....

It took me only about 2 tried to complete this mission.
