View Full Version : Ofp: resistance site opens
BIS has just opened their official Operation Flashpoint: Resistance web-site (http://www.bistudio.com/resistance/) and it's looking amazing!
http://www.flashpoint1985.com/hlavnistrana/pics/resistance.jpg
On the site you can find the expansion-set's features, characters, a couple of great images and this is what is told in the History-chapter:
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Nogovo, a devastated former socialist outpost of the Soviet Union, turned fledgling democracy, makes a life for its citizens based on the export of raw materials and tourism. But the fascination of a new-found freedom is slowly dimming, corruption proliferates, criminality festers and some people start calling for the good old days.
Nogovo is located a short distance from the Malden Islands, and its gorgeous natural beauty spots are juxtaposed with built-up areas which still haven’t recovered from years of socialist ideology and life-style.
<span id='postcolor'>
One of the new things we didn't know before, is the presence of a brand new unit type included in the expansion; a motor-cycle.

2) The minimum PC requirements have gone up a bit, probably due to the increased resolution textures (Operation Flashpoint, Windows XP/2000/98, Direct X 8.1, 256 MB RAM, 733 MHz CPU, 1 GB HDD).
<span id='postcolor'>

Stay calm, it's not the minimum, but the recommended requirements and these are the same as for original OFP as you can see here (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/index2.html)

Is it just the screenshots or is the new island more saturated than the old ones?
I really like the realistic dim colours of OFP .. I hope they won't make it Quake-ish and oversaturated?!

In the pictures I have seen their are a lot of new houses but none of them was open, I find it quite regrettable (since they are beautiful houses and their are not so much open houses in the original game).
By patient for opened houses. Work in progress!

If the houses are opened will there be that problem of walking through the walls?
That is one thing I dont like about houses. One of the towers in the game is impossible to walk up becuase I fall through the steps.
I love the big building in the latest pics. look at the top there is a balcony for snipers.

Just wish they'd implement OpenGL support, makes a much sharper image.
As for the "quak-ish" thing, Don't tell me about it, i'm starting to poop my trousers... Imagine OFP with UTishly over textured graph, elite-forcish color gradients?
NOT.
This is a war game, not some acid stoner's frag-fest to circumvent sexual frustrations of lame geekdom.
What they are probably taking about is more along the lines of re-fined curves in the landscape, and less of the see-thru helmets under 16bit Grphx. In fact I suspect that the bigest change is probably a litle more gamma, brightness and a higher LODs (defaults at 0.019 for objects and 0.050 for shadows) by default, wich most of us with decent hardware already do to get the graphs up level with other games...
lol i need more RAM if this expansion pack is gonna run smooth hehe...
but yea im really excited about this expansion pack.
