Hi

I don't know anything about modelling but I just got this idea for ArmA which could perhaps be well used for cutscenes as a cool effect so I'm asking this to you guys, is it possible to combine the sitting-animation with a ready-to-fire-weapon?

I'm talking about semi-shot rifles, such as the sniperrifles, to be precisely. I've seen some photos of snipers sitting, instead of being crouched or lying down, to send their targets straight to hell.

Example 1 (http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/sniper18.jpg)
Example 2 (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-14-dvic532.jpg)

Perhaps it would be possible to mod it in such a way that the gained accuracy lies between being crouched and prone. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif

To be honoust: I don't know why I got this idea, as I can't come up with any situation in which it might come in handy, but nevertheless I'd love to see it possible in ArmA.

Any chance or luck that this might actually be pulled off by someone?

pardon me... but pic 2 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif no offence against females.. BUT

It kinda looks like she just fired the weapon and need to pause..

OR

She fumbles and will tip over with the next shot. Its a 7.62 rifle and shes sitting in a unstable possion.

So if i sniper was placed like that he better have something behind him.

But i like your idea man http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif it would be nice to see sitting snipers (Urban combat ect)

It is possible for someone who understands how to modify the
static anims. In the (now defunct) OFP NI mod we had all
sorts of alternative static fire positions set up for our PIRA
gunmen.

I seriously doubt that the lady in the second picture is even a
soldier. Her general turnout looks slovenly and unmilitary and
the M14 is a popular civilian plaything in the USA.

Anyway, for bad firing postures that's nothing; take a look at
THIS (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v692/whisky01/Screenshots/hopeless.jpg) (Greek or Turkish army, I think).

Luckily she has the sand bag as support there. Definately not a good solid grip of the weapon. Without the bag she won't be hitting anything. Plus she seems to be left handed and shoots like a right handed person http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
