Retexturing Tutorial?

Hey, I have downloaded the right tools and opened up the soldier texture thing in photoshop. It is just a big mess of ACU stuff. How does one go about retexturing it? Is there a blank template somewhere? A tutorial would be very helpful. I've done textures from scratch for FS2004, but never a retexture.
