View Full Version : Patch 1.08 doesn't boot for me either
Many people are reporting that the new 1.08 patch does not work. Specifically when launching the game, nothing happens except a busy hourglass pointer, and then the DVD/CD drive spins up, and then nothing happens after that. We don't even get the check boxes and certainly no splash screen. But 1.06 DID launch and work for us. Well at least 1.06 worked and still works for me anyway.
BIS where are you? Have you left the galaxy to greener pastures? Do you remember your paying customers are beep out of luck until you provide a fix?

Same problem here. Had a perfectly working 1.05 installed and I cleanly ran the 1.08 patch with no errors and all I get is a spinning DVD and then nothing.
I test software for a living and I cannot believe I am seeing this. If this kind of thing happened to software I was testing I would be without a job.
Poor effort.

So you're testing hardware intensive software or just simply
software for business etc.?
If you're testing hardware intensive software (and i mean
games for pc's), your statement is very far off world and i wouldn't believe you doing that because you would then know how hard it is to find out problems in combination with certain pc setups.
If you're talking about the business software, then it's
a total other topic and could in no way be related to
problems like this one. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Chris Death go away you aren't helping by being smug here, even if you are right. I'm interested in a fix for the issue, not how testing business software is easier than games.

So anonjj, are you gonna flood every thread with your dissatisfaction now or will there be some constructive suggestion some time soon?
I guess it is understood that this must be somehow related to a Securom update causing the failure. And Maruk has already logged a complaint to Securom and you prolly read their suggestions. Right now there's not much else to than to wait until somebody finds a way to resolve this. And ranting each hour will not be solution by the way.
