After installing 1.08, a mission I made comes up with all soldiers that originally had rifles, no longer do. Their pistols and AT weapons are still on them though.
Anybody else have this problem?
I have the German version, and I downloaded and installed the International Update.
So far I have 3 problems that ruin a mission I've spent 200 hours on:
1. New faces assigned.
2. Rifles missing.
3. Soldiers arriving too soon or too late in cutscenes, which screws up all my hardwork in camera placement.
This is not cool.
remove all 3rd party addons from your main addon folder, disable all mod folder, test them one by one to see which cause "losing gun" problem
cutscreen problem are caused by config difference, notthing could be done
now is there somebody could hand me a gun? i'm going to start shooting stuff http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/pistols.gif
I suggest you try to debug that issue somewhere in the mission editor. reconstruct at least one of the units who lack arms ( http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif ) and check what will come.

Uninstall the game.
Reinstall it.
Install patch 1.05.
Install patch 1.08.
Never again put 3rd party addons in the ArmA\Addons folder.

4 in 1: ***Thanks alot man. ***Removing all my addons from the addon folder (there were 6: ***3 vilas ones, 2 editor addons, and Mapfact_Misc) solved this issue. ***I will have to systematically put them back to determine which one caused the problem.
I don't understand how addons phuk over all missions, and not just the missions that use the addons...

after your problems i thought you'd probbaly figure that it's best not to put any addons in the addon folder. rather create new folders (for example @mapfact with a another folder in it called Addons and then drop the addons in that addons folder) and reference them when running arma by using a @addoname in the startup shortcut on screen.
AFAIK It's just vilas' addons causing the problem, I removed them and the 1.07 beta worked, so it will here http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
He's also made a config fix for 1.07+ so you can use them.

Most of the addons that caused problems should have fixed versions available.

Maybe it's an idea to make a list of Addons that caused the problems, instead of making ppl go through it manually *everytime* http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Yeah I am still learning about all this addon compared to mod stuff.
One thing I learned early is that an addon can interfere with your update.
I convert all addons to mods
And if I did put an addon in. I make not of it and remove it before any patch updates. So far after two major patch updates I haven't had any problems and I use many of all the great addons (converted to mods if they aren't done for me.)
Are there any experienced OFP/ARMA players that can confirm my method of give me a better BEST PRACTICE?

Keeping all your addons in mod folders should be good enough. That way it's also easier when you need to run without them in MP, which will become necessary with some addons in future with the new addon signing feature.

Addon signing feature? What's that? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif
Quick heads-up guys, after about an hour of painstaking checking and changing, the 3 addons I had that conflicted with the 1.07 and 1.08 patches were:
The older Vilas addons
The BMD addon
The Danish Forces addons (the one with the special land rover)
Hope it helps someone http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Its something to do with configs, i *think* of the M4's burst mode needing to be replaced in a config.
I dont know how to replace it or what to replace it with :\
