I have a very basic rig but I haven't had problems with other games in the past and I don't know how to get Arma to run. First for my rig specs, AMD 3Ghz processor, 1.5 Gigs Ram, Windows XP Pro Service Pak2, Nvidia 6800GT 256MB, Direct x9, Realtek AC'97, 70Gig HD. Now I have the latest graphic and audio drivers and the game is patched up to 1.07 hot fix thinking patching would solve the problems but nothing works. Whenever I startup Arma 8 out of 10 boxes get checked then the game starts but all I get is a black screen with the in game background music and my monitor with "pc" on the lower right hand side as if it weren't getting a video signal. I tried uninstalling OpenAL, reinstalling, running the game with just my sound card, disabling the sound card all together and nothing, I don't know what else to do and Ive had the game for about a month now without being able to play, please help.

try to launch it using "-window" in the target section
of the shortcut, it might be that arma is using too
high freqency for your monitor.

To confirm any conflicts with loaded apps, use 'FSAutostart' (it's free) to purge all unneeded background operations. Things as simple as my flightstick having a wheel or switch in the on position, sending a character stream to ArmA when it's loading has done this to me.

Hope this helps...

you only ever get 8 out of 10 check boxes marked, even with a working game

^you are welcome.

yes, it seems you can't change refresh rate from windowed game.

what you can do is :

go to C:\Documents and Settings\name\My documents\ArmA

find the config file "Arma", it should look like this :

Quote[/b] ]language="English";
adapter=-1;
3D_Performance=8021.000000;
Resolution_W=1024;
Resolution_H=768;
Resolution_Bpp=32;
refresh=60;
FSAA=2;
HDRPrecision=8;
lastDeviceId="4318,658,69795840";
localVRAM=254341120;
nonlocalVRAM=394264575;
winX=164;
winY=39;
winW=1349;
winH=1012;
winDefW=1024;
winDefH=768;

here you can setup the refresh rate.

have fun !
