View Full Version : Wait For Host
Basically sometimes I have trouble connecting to a multiplayer game, and it freezes on wait for host before proceeding further.
Game locks up, can't ever end the process and must reboot the computer and try again. Now this happens every once and awhile, but now it wants to stick around.
I have tried reinstalling, disabled my firewall and I am directly connected to my cable modem. I have also tried the netsh winsock reset plus deleting my mp data and my profile numerous times, still hanging.
Any help on this issue will be appreciated.

What missions are you trying to load? Evolution can be on "wait for host" like you say for a good 5 minutes before it moves, its not that its crashed ... its just taking all the data from the server for whats happened in the past five ours in game, and then telling your computer. Be patient, go make a cup of tea http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
It's not at the point where it is loading a game, it is within the first 5 seconds of the initial join where it crashes - cpu goes to 0 and it's impossible to end the task or process and must restart the computer.
I have looked into it more and tried everything under the sun, then I looked at the crash logs and it faults at ntdll.dll.
I did a reinstall last weekend when it started happening and it cleared it all up, but now it wants to persist and I can't join any games what so ever.
Typically I have a hard time joining the BDA server and I have to endure a couple crashes, evo's I have no problem it will get to the loading screen and just have to wait like you said.
Basically once I join and right before it will normally say MYNAME is connecting - it crashes and is stuck on wait for host. So less than 5 seconds after I join a game it crashes.

The fix for this is to do 2 server list 'Refresh' actions before joining.
Does that fix it?
I had this problem for a while my last pc, it would sit at "wait for host" and require a restart the pc to recover from it.
I tried everything, reinstalled several times, chipset and lan drivers and settings.
Maybe once out of 30 tries would it actually join the sever and work, pretty annoying , SP worked fine
I formatted and reinstalled then it works again, but I never figured out what was causing it.
